Let me first say "Thank You!" for taking time to stop by and offer your constructive thoughts and critiques. I've been toying with this deck (following) for awhile now, and my biggest gripe is that it is inconsistent. I'll have these great rounds where I can do anything; the next duel, I'm squeaking by, unable to get a single good play off. Perhaps it's the nature of this type of deck. Perhaps it's because I'm running too many darn cards. But I'm hoping that there are either cards out there I haven't thought of that will help smooth this deck out, or someone can help me thin it down a bit.

So, after that very long intro, here's the deck as it now stands:

My thoughts on some of my choices follow in no particular order

Again, constructive comments are welcomed. Please don't suggest high priced cards like T.G. Hyper Librarian, because they are out of my price range (PoD would be okay, though, since it's coming out in the 2011 tins). And if you could give a reason for your suggestions, that would be appreciated. Thanks again for your help. --Kungfu-mama(talk) 21:47, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

27 Monsters, 13 Spells, 7 Traps. Ignore this count, I'm using it for reference purposes.

Well, I see the problem already. You generally want to stick to the 40 card minimum, but 41 or 42 is usually ok, and 43 or 44 works for Lightsworns. As you said, you are running too many darn cards. Let me see what I can do with this deck.

If you have questions, I'll be happy to answer them. Lappyzard (talkcontribs) 22:20, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

To Lappyzard's deck: Magna Drago is not as good as Dread Dragon, all things considered. And to KFM: DON'T - that is to say, DO NOT - use Totem Dragon in a deck with non-Dragons! And Infernal Dragon is not very good. Runer5h (talkcontribs) 23:25, July 22, 2011 (UTC)Runer5h

Right. Dread Dragon. I forgot about him. Thanks. Lappyzard (talkcontribs) 23:59, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the input, guys! Runer, I agree with you - Infernal Dragon isn't the best, but I didn't have a third Axe Dragonute. And I'll pull Totem out. Lappy, while I like Dodger Dragon, I'm not so sure he's a good fit here, since his effect only goes off when he's normal summoned. The likelihood is that he'll be coming out of the graveyard via REDMD. Still, you've given me something to think about with your spell and trap lineup. When I get some time, I'll post a revised decklist.

Dodger is a fantastic fit. Let's say you have Darkness Metal in your hand, and your opponent has a couple face-downs. Normal Dodger. Now, unless one of those is a Bottomless, which sees less play nowadays, or Torrent, they're probably a Solemn Judgement or a Solemn Warning. By Normal Summoning Dodger Dragon, you just locked those cards out of the equation, and you can remove Dodger Dragon to special summon Darkness Metal and start special summoning. 99.174.182.175 (talk) 16:49, July 23, 2011 (UTC)

Infernal Dragon is terrible. Seriously terrible. Totem Dragon won't work due to Lightsworns. Any Disaster Dragon deck needs three REDMD. Monster Reincarnation is a loss of advantage and not that good in general. Glow-Up Bulb is great card for this kind of deck. White Night Dragon is a Thought Ruler that you can bring back over and over with REDMD. Lyla and Ryko are great. Dark Hole and Giant Trunade are even greater. Lightsworns and Disaster Dragons are great in that they don't need defensive Trap Cards-just use Decree and you're good. Ehren is an amazing card-return a Face-Down monster to their deck. Make that really amazing. This should me much more consistent.

Wow, I like the way this looks! Can't afford the Glow-up Bulb, though I'd really like one; I'll probably add Delta Flyer back in for that. I'd already put a subscription to Shonen Jump to get a T.G. Hyper Librarian. Ehren is a bit pricey, but I can probably swing one with a bit of looking; I'll put Wulf back in to make up for the second Ehren. Yeah, I know, Infernal is terrible, but I didn't have a third Axe Dragonute; I'm working on getting one. And I'd seen Orient Dragon - can't wait for that to come out. Have to work on acquiring a few of the other Synchros, but I'll get there. So, with the changes I've suggested applied to your deck list, it would come out something like this:

My only concern now is that I seem to have a large number of high level monsters: Gragonith, White Night, REDMD (2), Dark Horus, and Judgment (2). Is that going to be a problem, do you think?
--Kungfu-mama(talk) 22:42, July 23, 2011 (UTC)

REDMD doesn't count as a high level monster. Lappyzard (talkcontribs) 22:45, July 23, 2011 (UTC)

Neither does Judgment Dragon.BobaFett2 (talk)

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions and help me out, guys! I really appreciate it.

-Genesis Dragon is really good in these builds, to recycel Judgment Dragon & REDMD-Resk () 00:29, July 25, 2011 (UTC)
I'll have to play around with Genesis Dragon. He'd be even more helpful if you could discard ANY card instead of a dragon monster in order to bring a dragon back to your hand. Thanks for the input!
