Forum:Genex Deck Review

I recently put together a Genex deck and I would love to have some input on how to improve it. A lot of doubles aren't my thing and I don't use the Advanced Format rules.

Total of: 46 cards Main Deck and 11 cards Extra Deck

I lack 3 of the original Genex synchros but other than that how could I improve this deck? I want to stay true to the Genex aspect but other than that what should I do?

Your main problem is using just about every Genex monster there is. Genex decks, are in general, weak-they don't have a lot of defense or powerful support and there are some decently powerful subgroups but in general, the archetype is not unified. I would suggest exclusively sticking to a few different Genex-you can get a lot of Special Summons using Genex Power Planner, Genex Searcher, R-Genex Accelerator, R-Genex Crusher, R-Genex Magma, R-Genex Oracle, R-Genex Overseer, and R-Genex Turbo.

Next, for the Spells and Traps. Genex are a woefully undersupported archetype with potential for greatness. However, to exploit this, you need to be able to stop attacks. Cards like Poison of the Old Man are useless outside of Chain Burn, the only good burn deck. Double Summon isn't very good either. Faustian Bargain, Back to Square One, and Synchro Boost are likewise unecessary. Try using Dark Hole, Giant Trunade, Smashing Ground/Fissure. As for Traps, Scrubbed Raid is unecessary and Metalmorph, Nordic Relic Laevateinn, Raigeki Break, and Defense Draw are also very low-powered. If possibly, you should replace Sakuretsu Armor with Dimensional Prison but if you can't that's perfectly fine. Mirror Force and Torrential Tribute are two very good low-cost cards. Bottomless Trap Hole is a great card as well that I'd suggest using, and if you can get any copies of Solemn Warning and Solemn Judgment they'd make the deck much better. BobaFett2 (talk)

Well I keep Synchro Boost in there to summon Vindikite easier due to his wonky star level and my lack of wind attribute Genex monsters. I play the same six people all the time and the guy I duel the most uses Stardust and Shooting Star very heavily so I threw in the Nordic Relic and I don't understand why Scrubbed Raid should be taken out. Could you explain that one?

You could side the Nordic Relic but you shouldn't put it in your main deck unless you need it. Scrubbed Raid is generally an okay card but it doesn't actually give you any advantage. You should use Mirror Force instead. Also, you should try using duplicates of cards instead of just one of each card.BobaFett2 (talk)
