Forum:Magical Hats Qs?

1) If i use magical hats and my opponent attacks one of the spell/trap cards, with blackwing shura - Blueflame, would shura still be able to special summon a blackwing from his/her deck?

2) i play magical hats and my opponent activates royal oppression would RO negates the summoning of the 2-non monsters?

3) i play MHs, get 2 geartowns can RO negate the special summon of the ancient gear when...

 a) geartown is destroyed and sent to the graveyard by battle?
 b) at the end of the battlephase when they must be destroyed and sent to the grave by MHs ruling?

(friend and i had a real confusing time with Q3)

1) No, the monster that was destroyed by battle needs to be sent to the Graveyard as a monster.

2) Yes, the effect of Royal Oppression can negate the effect of Magical Hats.

3) a) No, when Geartown is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, its effect activates during sub-step 7 of the Damage Step. You can never activate the effect of Royal Oppression during the Damage Step.

b) Yes, you can activate the effect of Royal Oppression at the end of the Battle Phase. However, if both of them are destroy in this manner, both of their effects will activate and form a chain according to SEGOC. In this case, the effect of Royal Oppression can only negate one of their effects.-- HHTurtle Talk   17:59, November 2, 2010 (UTC)

sure ur right about Q1 & Q2?

1) Shura's "When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard, you can Special Summon 1 "Blackwing" monster from your Deck." the spell/trap card summoned by MHs is treated as a monster and is being destroyed as a result of battle and sent to the grave. So wouldn't Shura effect still activate?

2)RO negates cards that special summon i reread MHs. "Select 2 non-Monster Cards from your Deck and 1 monster you control. Shuffle those 3 cards and Set them on the field in face-down Defense Position." it just places them on the field facedown it never says anything about special summon anything. so isn't it not being counted as any kind of summoning kinda like how future vision is? (when normal summoned its removed then next turn its placed back on the field and it's not considered as any summon so cards like bottomless trap hole, solemn judgment, etc can't stop it)

im gonna need to know this cause i'm going to regionals saturday.

1. Sure, but not because it wouldn't be sent to the grave. Shuras effect activates at substep7 of the damage step and RP can't be activated in the damage step. See Breakdown of the Battle Phase.

2. Sure. Although they are placed face down that is still threated as a special summon. It is the same as with morphing jar 2, this is also threated as special summon. That it is like that you can see in this ruling:

Jowgen the Spiritualist: While this card is on the field neither player can activate... "Magical Hats"...or any other card that Special Summons a monster. (from Card Rulings:Magical Hats)

So there is nothing that would prevent RO from negating hats. -dest- (talkcontribs) 20:53, November 3, 2010 (UTC)

sry i cant figure out what "RP" suppose to stand for in ur answer to Q1. Shura's effect would work right, when it destroys the non-monster card placed by magical hats? btw u spelled treated wrong theres no 'h' lol

I meant RO, just a typo. And I see that I made a mistake here and now I get hhts answer, sorry. Misread something.

Shura doesn't work because it needs to send a monster to the grave. An s/t isn't a monster so it doesn't work. -dest- (talkcontribs) 21:29, November 3, 2010 (UTC)
