Forum:Overlooked Cards Thread

Hey guys and girls, I don't know if this has been done before. So basically it's a thread about very overlooked cards that can actually be of some use if used right.

  • I'll kick things off, since I'm a big E-hero fan I'll discuss R - Righteous Justice.
  • This card can easily be a 2 for 1, better than MST, it may not be quickplay but combos well with Stratos and Voltic, or any card that swarms. The reason it's overlooked is the possibility of a dead draw or not being able to use it, it's your choice. If you're adding cards that are 'just in case something goes wrong' use MST. If 'creating a further push' then go for R - righteous Justice. Or even both if you're feeling dandy. Be warned you must destroy spells and traps EQUAL to the number of E-heroes you control so if your opponent only has 1 spell/trap and you have 2 e-heroes you can't use it or you'll have to destroy on of your own spell cards... flexible enough for e-heroes. Out of ten: 7/10?
  • What cards do you think are overlooked? It can be any card you like, a staple? or a specific card for a specific deck? Let me know what you think. And what Rating would you give the card? Superboltboy (talkcontribs) 19:35, May 8, 2011 (UTC)SBB

I made a list (ADD TO IT IF YOU'D LIKE):

Legendary Jujitsu Master
Creature Swap
Bait Doll

Lava Golem. That's all I have to say. Lappyzard (talkcontribs) 01:29, May 9, 2011 (UTC)

  • Wow nice support guys, ok I have another one, although not super great can be a decent bait card for MST like cards:

I have 2 cards to discuss both are good, but different people will prefer one over the other. Okay here's another one.

CARD #2: Dark Coffin For a bait card this is beast! Make you opponent waste two cards instead of one. Pros:Causes a two for one situation for your opponent. Tribute or discard (Neither can be stopped by Stardust) :P If your opponent only has one monster he's gone. Cons: Again slow and specific but as a bait card its brilliant. 8/10 Superboltboy (talkcontribs) 16:53, May 9, 2011 (UTC)SBB

It's mained in some Scrap builds, due to destruction & getting past Royal Decree-Resk ✩ (Talk) 17:06, May 9, 2011 (UTC)

Hedge Guard. Seriously, you can tech this card in a lot of builds (aka Gladiator Beast). Elite Wolf (talkcontribs) 17:50, May 9, 2011 (UTC)

  • Ok I'll make another one, but I'll have to call it a day, I be back after about a month after my finals.
  • Heres the last combo, but you guys keep it up :)

CARDS: Flute of Summoning Kuriboh x Transcendent Wings (Winged Kuriboh x Wing Kuriboh LV10)

Basically this card is Mirror Force on steroids or the more memorable Duelist Kingdom arc effect of Mirror Force (Super Broken!) You'll could easily OTK your opponent with just these two cards! Just back it up with Counters and your sorted. P.S. try and discuss the pros and cons and give your own personal rating ;P

  • Winged Kuriboh LV9 seems like a very good card, very easy to summon, and played late game you got a solid beastick. All you need is one chain and BAAM! you got what? 3000? atk at least? possibly more! Superboltboy (talkcontribs) 17:58, May 9, 2011 (UTC)SBB

I'm not trying to be annoying, but the "Instant Mirror Force" requires you to discard 2 cards (so major advantage is lost) and they have the ability to call of the attack because the monster setup on your side of the field changed.BobaFett2 (talk)

The effect can be used 'during battle phase' not just when attacked-Resk ✩ (Talk) 20:06, May 9, 2011 (UTC)

Oooh. I thought Winged Kuriboh required an attack. Cooool.BobaFett2 (talk)

What about Neko Mane King? You'd think that, with all of the mass-destruction and discarding running rampant in this metagame, NMK would be side decked as a decoy to cockblock the opponent's strategy. SynjoDeonecros (talkcontribs) 18:02, May 10, 2011 (UTC)

Dark World Shackles, Half Shut, Mystical Knight of Jackal, Miraculous Descent, Chivalry, & Pestilence. Those cards aren't seen too much, but can be devastating. Automation44 (talkcontribs) 05:30, May 11, 2011 (UTC)Automation44

I think the only reason why neko mane king isn't really seen play is that you might wind up having to waste your normal summon/set on it. It would be better to draw into a dark hole or something than it. BUt, I agree, like if its in the grave and you have a face down Call of the Haunted and your opponent plays MST, revive it or something.

I kind o flik ethe card Mind Haxorz, but i haven't really figured out how to use it. Malfunction is pretty sweet too, especially if you negate a Solemn JudgmentTrak0don (talkcontribs) 12:03, May 11, 2011 (UTC)

That's the beauty of Neko Mane King; it activates if sent to the graveyard from the field, hand or deck, so it's a really good bait for Lightsworns or Brionac/Trishula or such.
Another overlooked card that I see for one particular deck would be Naturia Fruitfly in a King Tiger Wanghu Anti-Meta deck. I've seen decks like that sing Ultimate Insect, which I think is a little slow considering you have to waste a summon and wait a turn to get out Ultimate Insect LV5; with Naturia Fruitfly, however, one will slam the opponent's monsters for a 300 ATK and DEF loss automatically, and 2 will multiply that to 1200 ATK and DEF (300 x number of Naturia monsters on the field x Number of Naturia Fruitflies on the field). Right there, you've pretty much wiped out most of the opponent's big-name monsters. SynjoDeonecros (talkcontribs) 12:53, May 11, 2011 (UTC)
Inferno Reckless Summon on Naturia Fruitfly. They lose, at minimum 2700 ATK and DEF, meaning you can either destroy or steal their cards at will. --Blue-Eyes Starlight Dragon (talkcontribs) 01:48, May 12, 2011 (UTC)

Reverse Trap. 'Nuff said. Stormvale12 (talkcontribs) 23:47, May 11, 2011 (UTC)

I see your Reverse Trap and raise you an Overworked. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 11:42, May 16, 2011 (UTC)

Trap of Darkness. It's basically Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude for traps. Elite Wolf (talkcontribs) 21:26, May 16, 2011 (UTC)

Offerings to the Doomed, in spades; It's basically a monster version of Mystical Space Typhoon, and the loss of a draw phase is minimal if you know how to play it right. 50.102.209.113 (talk) 00:07, June 11, 2011 (UTC)

I must admit i do love Defense Draw quite a bit. I use a Dragunity deck with a bunch of WIND supports. When Flying Kamakiri 1 is destroyed by battle, i get to special summon a weak WIND monster from my deck, but the monster must be in ATK mode, so if im being slammed by a few attacks in one turn, i can keep the Kamakiris coming and stop the inevidable damage with Defense Draw, AND i get a +1 Thedarkdoor (talkcontribs) 13:47, June 11, 2011 (UTC)thedarkdoor

I love Magic Drain, especially against an opponent with very few cards in his hand.

- "Yes, I top-decked a Dark Hole and no other cards in my hand! I'll activate it!"

- "Can you spare a Spell Card?"

- "Fffff...."

I don't see Playful Possum being used much. I would think it would be cool in a Meklord deck to break out your Emperors. It even comes back! I also don't see people use Nordic Relic Laevateinn, even though it's a glorified Sakuretsu Armor that can't be countered. Same goes with Xing Zhen Hu Replica. AnnoyingMacroPrick (talkcontribs) 04:29, July 15, 2011 (UTC)

The reason nobody uses Laevateinn is because they have to destroy a monster first. That means you still lose advantage instead of getting a 1 for 1. That and the fact that Dimensional Prison is about as good as it gets. Also, people just use Mystical Space Typhoon since Xing Zhen Hu Replica doesn't actually get rid of cards.BobaFett2 (talk)
