Duelist Revolution seems like a fun set. It's got all sorts of things! It's got synchro fusions! It's got fusion support in general! It has Elecs! It has Naturia Forest among other things! It has... um... Earthquake Giant. (Way to start off the 7th series, Konami...) But right now, I'm particularly interested in the fact that it has the new Scrap monsters! Like you'd think, they can recycle themselves easily, and searching them is also a breeze. So, time to see what I can do with this archetype!

Here's how the deck works. First of all, I have Scrap Goblin, which is a pretty good attack blocker as they go, and can keep itself on the field for a tribute. Scrap Beast is an excellent 4-star tuner with a retrieval effect. Scrap Golem can revive my Scrap Goblin for an easy level 8 combo, or Scrap Beast to synchro for XX-Saber Gottoms. Scrap Chimera is most useful for synchro summoning Scrap Dragon, but it can also get me a quick two monsters for attacking.

Gigantes is an easy summon in this deck, making higher-level synchros easy, being a beatstick, and doubling as S/T removal in a pinch. Giant Rat can block attacks and thin the deck. The only Scrap monster it can search is Goblin, but I put in some other Earths too. For instance, there's Mormolith, which I though could be useful with my large amount of Earths, and can take out DAD and Colossal Fighter in one fell swoop. Card Trooper and Spell Striker are also valid targets. Spell Striker isn't really a GOOD idea, being almost a free special summon, but if I feel like it's necessary I'll use it. Card Trooper, on the other hand, mills my own deck to make itself a beatstick, and grants me a card when it's destroyed. Also, I have Sangan for added search power.

The first spell is Scrap Area. 6 targets in the deck, so it won't easily become a dead draw. Heavy Storm and MST are just about staples. Card Destruction and Hand Destruction form part of this deck's draw power, and get targets into the graveyard for easy use or just dump dead cards. Pot of Avarice seems like it would work here. I'm not entirely certain, but I do have many effects to get monsters into the graveyard. And then there's the pick that I find to be very cool - Creature Swap. It obviously combos with Giant Rat, but also with Sangan, Card Trooper (assuming I don't buff it), and Scrap Goblin (0 ATK, and if it's in defense position I'll get the retrieval effect).

The traps are fairly simple. Torrential Tribute wipes the field of monsters. Bottomless stops threats to my LP. Waboku does the same, and keeps monsters on the field for synchros or tributes for Scrap Golem. And Call of the Haunted has some neat combos of its own.

The synchro monster I really want to talk about here is Scrap Dragon. Its destruction effect is a bit odd, but it activates the effects of Scrap Goblin and Scrap Beast, so no complaints there. And at the same time, I'm taking out my opponent's card. It has a high ATK as well. And if it's destroyed, I simply special summon Scrap Golem, then use its effect to special summon Scrap Goblin, and pow! Scrap Dragon's back! The other Synchros should be fairly obvious.

Tell me what you think of this concept deck. Runer5h 21:00, March 18, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

i can see where this deck is going, but you might wanna recycle cards in your graveyard more often^^

Umm, I assume that's a joke. Each and every Scrap monster has a recycling effect, as does Pot of Avarice. Runer5h 02:36, March 19, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

can be assumed as a joke if the deck works at a slower pace

Why is the deck named "Frog King"? Is this some PUN?! So help you God if it is!I'm not amused, but now Offended. but seriously, why? Cool deck though...--Helix-king 04:36, March 19, 2010 (UTC)

I'm guessing he grabbed my template to save time & forgot to change the name :p, but anyway, looks fine, but could maybe swap a Mormolith for a Neo-Spacian Grand Mole? and possibly grab a Spiritual Earth Art - Kurogane?-RESK-193.62.251.50 10:57, March 19, 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, I'm not too sure on this yet, though. Maybe add a Scrap Recycler nah. It doesn't fit here. Did you consider Scrap Hunter, though? It seems to be a little fine for setting off the Scrap monsters' effects and shuffling about the positions of your Scrap Tuners (or other tuners, for that matter). --Gadjiltron 12:58, March 19, 2010 (UTC)

Exactly, Resk. I've thought about Spiritual Earth Art - Kurogane, but I think I have enough recycling power anyways. And, unfortunately, there aren't enough combos to use it with. Scrap Hunter is also something I thought of, but I don't think I can afford to lose that much field presence. Grand Mole is not something I thought of, though, and it would work quite well - I think I'll put that in. Thanks for the idea. Runer5h 19:23, March 19, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

What about Widespread Dud? Since you'll be quickly summoning Scrap Dragon, you can use it with its destruction effects to ward off a threatening swarm. --Gadjiltron 04:58, April 2, 2010 (UTC)

I considered it, but I couldn't think of what to take out for it. Runer5h 17:10, April 2, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

EDITS

Now that the full list for Duelist Revolution has been shown, I've decided to remove the two Creature Swaps and Spell Striker for Scrap Squall, which I think should speed the deck up, getting combo pieces into the graveyard easily and taking full advantage of monsters special summoned by Scrap Golem and Scrap Chimera if I don't feel like synchro summoning. Runer5h 16:26, April 14, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

And another edit... I can get monsters into the grave just fine, so I dropped Card Destruction for Brain Control. Makes Golem easier to use. Runer5h 23:36, April 18, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

Oh, yeah... also, I'm swapping out Mormolith and a Giant Rat for two Lightning Vortex. Runer5h 19:58, April 19, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h
And ANOTHER edit - I'm switching out my copies of Pot of Avarice. I couldn't get 5 monsters in very well, and even when I did, I found myself not wanting to use it because I could get much better use out of recycling the in-grave cards. I'd just set it as a tribute for Scrap Dragon's effect. I replaced it with 2 My Body as a Shield, for those pesky Bottomless Trap Holes and such.
BTW, about Scrap Dragon... it is amazing. With the two easy combos to summon it (Chimera+Beast and Golem+Goblin) it is really easy to summon. Its destruction effect can really be abused, because the Scrap monsters give me +1s so easily it isn't even funny - not to mention Card Trooper and Sangan. And even if my opponent destroys it, I can get it back to the field, usually next turn. I've gone through all three in a duel - frequently. I suppose Pot of Avarice would work to recycle it, but if it becomes a problem I'll side in a Pot of Benevolence or Transmigration, or something. But I doubt it will - Beast and Goblin can send Scrap Dragon back to the extra deck with their effects.
Any more ideas? I'm liking the deck now, but I think it could be better. Runer5h 02:59, April 20, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

Hmm, just wondering, from what I've seen of the scraps, they are able to maintain good hand advantage, but seem lacking in field, but as you get more back to the hand when they are destroyed, would Ultimate Offering work perhaps?-RESK-14:17, April 20, 2010 (UTC)

I haven't had a problem with field advantage yet. The deck might not be able to swarm, but I can keep a monster on the field easily enough with Scrap Goblin's immunity to battle and Scrap Dragon's revival effect - not to mention some of my protection traps. Besides, I can get rid of my opponent's field easily enough. Runer5h 20:17, April 20, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h
And ANOTHER edit - I'm removing Call of the Haunted. I think I have plenty of ways to retrieve from the graveyard without it, so it's no longer needed. In its place, I'm putting in Foolish Burial. It can mill Beast to return with Chimera, or send any useful monster to the graveyard to set up combos. Runer5h 21:41, April 20, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

Epic Duel and the results

You guys HAVE to see this. With this deck, I dueled Akiza (no, not THAT Akiza) on the IRC, against his Bamboochute Lockdown. These are the amazing results, and they are a must-see. So, clearly this deck can hold its own.

However, that incident has gotten me interested in side-decking for this deck. Do any of you have ideas for side-deck cards that I could include? Solemn Judgment seems like a good idea here, but what else? I was also thinking that I could perhaps side in some Pots of Avarice... what are your opinions? Runer5h 02:51, April 22, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

One change: I'm swapping out a Hand Destruction for a Dandylion. It's a really amazing card - synergy with Hand Destruction, Card Trooper, Lightning Vortex, Foolish Burial... and it gives Sangan and Giant Rat some more targets. Aside from that, it's a great tribute for Scrap Golem, and provides tokens for the effect of Scrap Dragon. Runer5h 19:41, April 22, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

Just so you know the field spell Naturia Forest wasent used correctly in that duel. It cant be used when you negate a monsters summoning. It can only activate after you negate a spell or trap or a monster's effect. 24.190.118.235 17:14, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, neat. I'll remember that. Runer5h 18:36, May 22, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

Starstrike Blast

With the newest set showing its cards already, it seems the Scrap archetype is getting some important support. They now have access to Scrap Twin Dragon, which can destroy one of my cards and BOUNCE two of my opponent's (AKA, my opponent can have 3 Starlight Road for all I care). And it has a similar looping effect to the original - I can SS Scrap Golem when it's destroyed by battle, and use that to SS Scrap Beast on my turn, and synchro for Twin Dragon all over again. Not to mention its 3000-ATK-ness.

Moving on... Scrap Searcher can replace any of my Scrap monsters when they get destroyed. In my opinion, it should be very easy to have tribute fodder for Scrap Golem now. And I can wall up with Scrap Goblin for a turn, and then as soon as it's gone, I get this. It's not a tremendous problem that I lose all non-Scraps either. Scrap Soldier isn't really something I'm too crazy about. I run one because I can special summon it with Scrap Chimera and synchro summon instantly for Scrap Dragon. It has the Scrap tuner retrieval effect, but as it only has 700 DEF it's not going to be any use for that. The other card I decided to include was Scrap Oil Zone, which instantly revives one of my Scrap monsters, at the cost of it losing its effect and me not getting a battle phase that turn. I figure that if I can bring out Scrap Dragon/Twin Dragon all the easier, I'll be able to deal with a single lost battle phase.

I think this will allow me to play the deck the exact same way I have been, if I so choose. The difference here is that I can now play it differently by abusing Scrap Twin Dragon, maintaining field presence even better than ever with Scrap Searcher, and more big plays thanks to the Oil Zone. Runer5h 19:42, May 19, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

eh i know it soudns kinda stupid but ill put my 2 cents in,you could try running Sacred Phoenix of Nephtys, reason this is recommended is you have several cards in your deck to destroy and revive it,most notably the combo being if you use it with scrap dragon or scrap twin dragons effect you can always get rid of your oppenents spell and trap cards every turn and and can get rid of 1-2 of their cards, its the perfect ammo a giant fire chicken bazooka made from scrap.--Raventheblack 01:37, May 20, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, I see what you're getting at - with Torrential, Scrap Searcher, and the two Dragons... alright, I'll do my best to find somewhere to put it in. My main concern here, however, is bringing it out in the first place. I'd probably have to run some Hands of Nephthys, and... well, we'll see. Runer5h 02:03, May 20, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

well if i may suggest you may wanna take out Gigantes, i understand hes a good beatstick but he requires you to get rid of recyclable monsters in your grave and hes not always gonna be brought out.--Raventheblack 04:09, May 20, 2010 (UTC)

Well, first of all, I've made some changes. Scrap Soldier was NOT useful - Golem can synchro into Twin Dragon just fine, thank you. In its place goes Treeborn Frog, which makes easy tribute fodder for Scrap Golem and destruction fodder for the two dragons. I'm also dropping a My Body as a Shield for a Foolish Burial, which has been very useful. As for dropping Gigantes... I'm still on the fence about that card, to be honest. Runer5h 19:32, May 20, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

I think you can remove the other My Body as a Shield. I don't see how you would mind your monsters dying, seeing as the majority of them are easily accessed through the Graveyard. In its place, maybe try out Widespread Dud? It's a sort of slap in the face to a lot of S/T removal, and combos nicely with your pet Dragons. I know that it's situational in only dealing with Attack Position monsters, but it's all I can think of at the moment.--Akiza Izayoi 04:54, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

After duelling this mofo upfront, I definitely think Scraps are a great archetype. xD Not really good with fixes anymore, but I love the build! Duel again soon! =D <3 --YamiWheeler 05:17, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, YamiWheeler. As for dropping My Body as a Shield... hmm. I see your point. But I don't want to put in Widespread Dud - a bit too situational. I'll stick in an Enemy Controller, which really allows me to abuse Scrap Searcher and Treeborn Frog, and blocks an attack. Runer5h 16:11, May 22, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

Oh, and you need some S/T removal in the Side Deck. Maybe Dust Tornadoes? Macro is a 13i+ch.--Akiza Izayoi 19:17, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

Good idea. Yeah, that seems like it would work. Runer5h 21:43, May 22, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h
I've just had another duel, this one against E-Dizzle and his Quickdraw Turbo deck. Check it out. The deck is working beautifully, it's very consistent, it's got the ability to make great comebacks, and it can and will abuse the hell out of Scrap Dragon AND Scrap Twin Dragon. Runer5h 00:04, May 23, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

OK, new edit. I'm swapping out a Scrap Oil Zone and Giant Rat for 2 Dandylions. That should make tribute summons and synchro summons easier. Runer5h 15:39, May 23, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

Small edit. Putting a Scrap Archfiend in the extra deck. Should be useful. Also dropped Grand Mole for another Searcher. Runer5h (talkcontribs) 04:14, July 16, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

Just a random thought: You have a lot of targets for Debris Dragon. You can bring back Dandylions, Frogs, Searchers, and Goblins. I realize that he can't make Twin Dragon, but he can make regular Scrap Dragon! I also think Synchroing into Black Rose Dragon while you have one of your two Scrap Dragons on the field could be productive as well.--Akiza Izayoi (talkcontribs) 05:36, July 16, 2010 (UTC)

HUGE REVISIONS INCOMING!

When I say huge, I mean HUGE. It's been a while since I've updated this decklist on the wiki, so I figured that I'd better get on with it.

I still have three Chimeras and three Goblins, but I also have three of another card - Scrap Shark! Its 2100 ATK is nothing to scoff at, and the fact that it mills Scraps from my deck is great. Its self-destruction isn't actually so bad, since I have ways of keeping field presence regardless.

I swapped three Scrap Beasts out for having two Scrap Beasts and two of the OCG-only card, Scrap Orthros. The latter is amazing for retrieving my Chimeras. I also dropped down to only 2 Golems, for reasons of consistency - they can be dead draws sometimes. Scrap Searcher helps keep my field presence when one of my Scrap monsters is destroyed (by an EFFECT, not by battle, unfortunately). And then I have the only two non-Scraps in the deck - Machine Emperor Wisel Infinity! Yes, the card has been released in the OCG, and it is PERFECT for Scraps. Negating spells, 2500 ATK, can be special summoned whenever my Scrap Goblin or Scrap Shark self-destructs, and in many other situations besides... It's amazing. Oh, and I also have a single Scrap Mind Reader, the only-OK TCG exclusive card for Scraps.

I still have three Scrapyard and three Scrapstorms, because they're just so good. I also have two of the phenomenal spell card Pot of Duality! It speeds up my deck enormously. Two Mystical Space Typhoons deal with bad spells and traps that could mess me up, and two Enemy Controllers and a Book of Moon serve as defense. Dark Hole and Monster Reborn act as staples, Mind Control works really well in a deck with 8 tuners, and Foolish Burial is important for milling retrieval targets.

Royal Decree is my only trap card, and it works quite well. I can cut off any Solemn Warnings, Bottomless Trap Holes, and other traps that would mess me up. Not to mention that with it and Wisel out, I have something approaching a lockdown situation.

The extra deck is pretty standard... so tell me what you think of this deck! Runer5h (talkcontribs) 16:19, December 4, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

Runer5h (talkcontribs) 20:41, December 6, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

I Must have missed every recent version of this... anyway, You no longer have any realistic way to sync for Formula Synchron, so it may be an idea to remove it, Also, as you mentioned with shark, I don't think it's worth it unless you have 1-2 searchers in grave, to make up for it dying, so you may want to add a 2nd searcher again?, finally, I find Enemy Controller really... bad without Treeborn Frog... so perhaps One for One to search out the searchers? or maybe a Glow-Up Bulb if you wish, apart from that, it's looking good,-Resk (talkcontribs) 04:43, December 31, 2010 (UTC)
