Forum:Venom + Worm = ?

Gadjiltron here. Man, it's been a while since I last created a thread in this part of the forum.

So I was looking and thinking over how to improve a Deck based on summoning Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes. Clearly the Venom monsters were all too weak and Venom Swamp takes too long to wear out the opponent, and to be blunt, Venom monsters are not really necessary to the Deck at all, since 'naga and 'non both look at Reptile monsters in general. So, I turned to the other major-looking Reptile archetype: Worms.

The name of the game is simple: Search, mill, and cycle until all the necessary pieces are in place. Worm Xex + Worm Yagan provide a nice standalone combo that gives me a monster that doesn't mind being face up (for Offering) and something else to bounce (semi-)Nomis with. Worm Cartaros is a standard search engine for any Worm I'll need. Worm Hope is a minor draw engine which also lets me toss out Vennominon into the Grave if I have him in my hand. Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter provides removal while milling things to power up 'non and 'naga.

The main combo for summoning 'naga is to use Limit Reverse to revive Vennominon on the opponent's turn, then switch him to Defense Position to fulfill the condition for Rise of the Snake Deity. However, as Rise is particularly picky and doesn't like it if the Deity is already in the Graveyard, I have Dark Eruption handy in case my Rykos mill 'naga. Book of Eclipse serves as defense while also resetting any Flip Effects that I've used on purpose.

How else can this Deck be improved? Do comment. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 02:43, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

Do yourself a favour and ditch the Rykos altogether. They're not needed. Instead add in 3 Snake Rain, it's a far better way to mill the Worms and if done right can mill them all on the first turn.

If you really wanted to shake things up a bit I'd also suggest running a few of the higher worms and putting the others down to two each, as Snake rain makes sure you won't have them dead in hand. Then run a Future Fusion along with a few Viper's Rebirth and you'll be able to quickly dump and resummon the worms if you want to. That said this is really only if you want to :P

Finally explore adding a Lightray or two to the deck. As Lightrays run great with the worms and are powerful allies to have.--The FireFALL (talkcontribs) 04:10, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

Wow, you're right. Using the Snake Rains made Dark Eruption irrelevant because I'm less likely to accidentally mill 'naga. Though having Viper's Rebirth also means taking out Sangan to make it useable. But what else can I use to fill in the extra monster space? Lion Alligator, maybe? --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 09:12, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

For the time being, lots of edits.

No W Nebula Meteorite? It's kinda a staple in Worm. Do you need 3 Worm King? Wouldn't it be dead a bit? Also, I'd probably go for another Cartaros over a Lion Alligator. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 14:22, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

Not sure what can go to make space for W Meteorite. Maybe a Worm King. I'd like to test how Meteorite meshes in, but I'm simulating the Deck with WC2011. Blasted 2012 being for the 3DS... --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 14:25, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

Don't worry about Nebula, you're playing for Vennominaga not for the worms. If worms was your primary focus then yes Nebula would be good but you're not so don't worry about it. Switch out a Worm King and add in a Worm Queen, that way you can revive Queen with Viper's Rebirth and use her effect to tribute her to special summon King from the grave. That said you can also use Viper's Rebirth as a quick way to get access to Vennominaga. Simply ditch a Vennominion with Snake Rain, have a Rise of the Snake Deity ready and activate Viper's Rebirth on Vennominion. Come end of turn Vennominion is destroyed via Rebirths effect and you can activate Rise and get Vennominaga out. So what I'm trying to say is run Viper's Rebirth at 3 ;P.--The FireFALL (talkcontribs) 01:16, July 16, 2012 (UTC)

Which is pretty much why I removed the Limit Reverses once I realized that Viper's Rebirth can do that. I've also forgotten that Worm King and Queen are capable of Tributing themselves for their own effects, so that's one more reason to run V-Rebirth in triplicate.

You have enough Spell/Trap destruction against "Zombie World" and "Imperial Iron Wall" (worst enemies of Naga, Offering, Viper's, etc). You could side a "Mask of Restrict" against a random Final Countdown Deck (because of "Lava Golem"/"Volcanic Queen"), but your Deck looks good the way it is. --Missign0 (talkcontribs) 18:48, July 17, 2012 (UTC)

nice, now we have the 3 Reptile archtypes ( actually 3 of 4) on the deck help section worms and venom and my aliens--LaserGhost (talkcontribs) 20:12, July 17, 2012 (UTC)

I know this may sound really obvious.....but replace Bottomless Trap Hole with Solemn Warning in case of cards like Legendary Six Samurai Shien and Stardust Dragon. Also, maybe Honest can help because of the worm monsters. Fallensilence (talkcontribs) 20:59, July 17, 2012 (UTC)

fallen is right, the meta is full of stuff that will get over bottomless.LaserGhost (talkcontribs) 22:01, July 17, 2012 (UTC)
I can't use Honest here, it'd render Viper's Rebirth unusable once I use him. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 01:35, July 18, 2012 (UTC)

Oh........right. You still going to use Effect Veiler though? People do really on stopping monster effects so....yeah. Fallensilence (talkcontribs) 02:10, July 18, 2012 (UTC)

Where the hay is your future fusion and Worm Zero? Future Fusion loads the grave for King and Queen attack buffs, and lowers your deck size to get other cards. Adamtheamazing64 (talkcontribs) 15:20, July 21, 2012 (UTC)

A tad hard to squeeze that in. I'd rather Snake Rain for my milling power. Can get 'non out of the way so I don't draw him. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 15:33, July 21, 2012 (UTC)
