Forum:Xyz a reduncy?

Doesn't everyone feel that it's boring when revolving around with Xyz Monsters and their Xyz Materials? I know it's necessary for them to activate their effects, but it's become really redundant. It's like the first Psychic-Type monsters always having to deal with Life Points. I mean, I try to compare them with other "special" Monster Cards, such as Fusion Monsters, Ritual Monsters, etc. Okay, I understand that they all have their own special summoning requirement, but they don't require something unique to activate their effects all the time. This is just my opinion; what do you guys think? LastMinute (talkcontribs) 07:22, February 3, 2012 (UTC)

That's kinda like saying "Let's have Synchro Monsters that don't need Tuners to be summoned." It takes away from the entire schtick of the card type. 75.163.211.37 (talk) 07:32, February 3, 2012 (UTC)

I just said, "I understand that they all have their own special summoning requirement". just the idea of using Xyz Materials for effects all the time is kinda annoying. LastMinute (talkcontribs) 09:35, February 3, 2012 (UTC)

I wouldn't mind an archetype whose Xyz Monsters didn't need to detach materials to activate their effects, but had support cards that focused on detaching materials to gain effects. Golden Key (talkcontribs) 14:22, February 3, 2012 (UTC)

Look at it this way: The Material system allows Xyz to have more powerful effects, but limits their usage due to a smaller number of potential activations. For, example, think about how the game would be if Evolzar Laggia was a flat once per turn effect, or if Gachi Gachi Gantetsu was flat-out immune to destruction. 75.163.211.37 (talk) 15:41, February 3, 2012 (UTC)

Gachi Gachi Gantetsu's effect without material doesn't sound as bad as maybe Wind-Up Zenmaines would be. Oh cool, you tried to destroy Zenmaines? Negate destruction, destroy your card.58.169.180.226 (talk) 03:28, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

We have Gem-Knight Pearl which doesn't have an effect and Tiras, Keeper of Genesis. BF2 Talk Deck Guides 13:18, February 4, 2012 (UTC)

True and with Gem-Knight Pearl he's actually got a few support cards which he can give his XYZ materials to for effects. I think as time goes by we'll see more innovative ways for XYZ to use their materials.--The FireFALL (talkcontribs) 21:01, February 6, 2012 (UTC)

It's just that it's tiring to see every Xyz Monster summoned with flowing Xyz Materials. LastMinute (talkcontribs) 03:08, February 7, 2012 (UTC)

Xyz monsters are still new. Give Konami a few sets and they'll probably think of some crazy stuff to do with them. I personally want to see more that are like Tiras, which was mentioned above. I'm hoping the "new gameplay concept" in Return of the Duelist has something to do with making Xyz monsters more diverse in some way. -- Summoned Skull 2: Electric Boogaloo 03:14, February 7, 2012 (UTC)
I think your wish has been granted, LastMinute. Golden Key (talkcontribs) 17:02, February 14, 2012 (UTC)
