Questions for the candidate

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve as an administrator. Please answer the following four questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
A: I intend to keep my regular work, covering information of the manga series and helping adding information/removing unnecessary or wrong information to articles in general. Hadn't been able to contribute as much as I did once, but I'm still able to cover the most essential information for the mangas and similar work.
2. What do you consider to be your best contributions, and why?
A: Undoubtedly saving the manga series. When I started editing, we had little to no information on the mangas. I started adding chapter articles, card articles, translating information and adding images for them and keep doing that up to today. I also usually add information regarding Japanese to artciles in general, such as explaining a card's name in their Trivia page or explaining a character's mannerisms in their article.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A: Yes, while I'm very open minded and like to discuss stuff over, I tend to lose patience if I think the other person is too obviously wrong but keep neglecting my/our arguments. But usually, when that happens, I try to just bail out from the discussion or something similar to avoid saying stuff I don't want to.
4. Do you regularly contribute to any other wikis? Are you an administrator or bureaucrat on any of them, or do you have accounts with similar roles on forums, blogs, etc.? Could you provide links, if so?
A: I do contribute do a few other wikis, but very rarely. I'm only an active editor in this one. I am a (completely makeshift) moderator on Neo Ark Cradle under the name "Kankurou".
5. Question from Cheesedude: In regards to translation, are you willing to discuss things with the Organization a bit more before adding your own translations (or make an effort to check with them after the fact)?
A: Are you asking this because of the B.A. incident? xD I don't usually use my own translations here unless it's for new cards from the manga (which the Org doesn't translate). Even for BA, I just added that translation because we had no translated name added at the point. I never have (intentionally, at least) and will never replace Org translations by translations of my own, I'm fully aware that Ark and many other Org members have much more knowledge than me and discuss the translations over and over. I do add stuff for the manga with my own translations, though, since we hardly ever get other people translating them, which I believe is not a problem.

Support

  • I support this fully. LAU's been a valuable contributor, not that I need to tell anyone that of course. Sanokal K-T (talkcontribs) 01:00, September 5, 2015 (UTC)
  • I have no reason to oppose LAU becoming an Admin. --Golden Key (talkcontribs) 15:03, September 18, 2015 (UTC)
  • So long as he keeps in mind the below comments, I support. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 16:04, September 24, 2015 (UTC)
  • LAU has been a valued contributor for some time, and in many ways, a promotion to SysOp is overdue for him. As long as the translation issues below are kept in mind, I would be delighted to welcome LAU as a SysOp.--TwoTailedFox (talk) 16:30, September 24, 2015 (UTC)

The BA translation thing did show we need to pay more attention to TCG-first cards when it comes to translating. We've been pretty lax about it. I know you won't replace the Org's translations, but I simply ask you to be more careful in the future. Do a bit more research. In the same vein, I'll attempt to do a better job checking them with the translators myself. I know you wouldn't intentionally add bad translations, but in some cases, no translation is fine until the research is done. It doesn't have to be a race. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 16:59, September 17, 2015 (UTC)

I'm aware of that, I simply didn't know the Org was working on a translation. I thought you guys only worked on official translations for cards without official English names. Still, I didn't replace any other translation anyone came up with, and just gave my point in the discussion because I was asked to. Sure, I will be careful in the future, but I don't think adding a provisional translation when we had none harmed anyone, and I'm not sure why this is being seen as a big deal. The Org wasn't working on a translation, actually. We don't usually make a concentrated effort for TCG-first cards. I'm not trying to make a big deal out of this. It wasn't a big deal. But if it happens continually, well, then it becomes a big deal. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 00:01, September 18, 2015 (UTC)
I see. Don't worry then, it sure won't. I don't usually meddle in OCG/TCG stuff, my territory is anime/manga. LegendaryAsariUgetsu (talkcontribs) 11:08, September 18, 2015 (UTC)
