Anzu Mazaki clashes with the beautiful but sadistically strict Ms. Chono, and organizes a petition to change the school rules. But Chono's underhanded counterattack ruins the petition—until Dark Yugi steps in.

Summary[edit]

The school's beauty[edit]

Chono flirting with the vice-principal to get stricter rules

Ms. Chono arrives at Domino High School and had the immediate attention of male teachers and students. Miho Nosaka also admires her, but Anzu Mazaki less so. Ms. Chono asks a female student about a key chain that she was using, telling her that it was against the school rules, and confiscates it. Anzu mentions a rumor that Ms. Chono wanted to makes the rules even harder. The two friends are approached by their classmate Mayumi, who sought advice.

Mayumi's love puzzle[edit]

Ms. Chono arrives at the vice-principal's office, throwing the confiscated keychain in the trash. She asks the vice-principal about her proposal for a complete ban in the students personal items and more strict penalties for those infracting. The vice principal tries to excuse himself, but Ms. Chono approaches him, insisting on her proposal, and he relents, trying to flirt with her afterwards.

Mayumi and the gang buying the puzzle

Mayumi told Miho and Anzu that she likes Katsuya Jonouchi and asks for their advice on what he likes, so that she could get a present for him. Miho mentions that he likes pornographic videos, but Mayumi replies that is not appropriate, so they turned to Yugi Mutou for ideas. He also mentions pornographic and Anzu asks again for a present that girl would give to Jonouchi. Yugi thought of games like the ones sold at his grandfather's shop.

On Saturday afteroon, the four went to Sugoroku Mutou's shop, where he recommends an old blank jigsaw puzzle that he used to win over Yugi's grandmother. The idea was to write a love message in the pieces and get the other person to assemble the puzzle. Mayumi likes the idea, buys the puzzle, and thinks her message over on Sunday.

Chono's nefarious actions[edit]

Chono's nasty side

Ms. Chono has her marriage meeting with a suitor, whom she appealed to at first. Chono wanted to receive more praise from him before crushing him with rejection. However a young boy, related to the suitor, accidentally falls over her kimono. Chono becomes angry and kicks the boy, revealing her nasty personality, causing the suitor to turn her down.

On Monday, Mayumi brings the puzzle to school, to the happiness of Anzu and Miho. Miho suggests leaving the present in Jonouchi's desk and Yugi offered to distract him.

Chono arrived at the vice-principal's office and discovers that her rule changes proposal is going well. The vice-principal asks her about her marriage interview, and she excuses herself with a laugh, fleeing to the bathroom, where she has a tantrum, breaking a mirror and kicking a bin. She was angry at her rejection the day before, because she wanted to reject her suitor first, as was her habit.

Chono's tantrum

Jonouchi arrives late for class because he was spending time watching Hong Kong action movies. Chono arrivs soon after. When the class begins, Jonouchi finds the present. Chono notices this and approaches him, asking about the cute box. Jonouchi replies that the box was not his. Chono confiscates it and opens it in front of the class, to Mayumi's chagrin. Chono discovers the nature of the puzzle and assembled the hidden message:

"From the first time I saw you, You have always been on my mind."

Chono ridicules the confession message and all the class laugh at it. Chono says that the message is a distraction and a violation of rules, deserving of expulsion. Chono asks for the owner of the puzzle, but Anzu asks her to stop, because her intentions were mean. Anzu claims ownership of the puzzle and Chono orders her to come to staff room after class.

In the staff room, Chono reproves the love message, but Anzu insists it did not cause any problems in class. She also criticizes various of the school strict rules, like forbidding part-time jobs. Chono is upset by her response and asks her to create a petition to change the rules, gathering enough signatures form other students. Chono gives back the puzzle but plans to ruin Anzu.

The love message

The failed signature petition[edit]

Unbeknownst to Anzu, Chono complains to other teachers about her supposed rebellion against the school's rules and lack of remorse. Anzu begins the signature campaign to relax the school rules, thinking of working in her job freely. She made various posters and Yugi offers to help her.

Later, the posters are vandalized, with writings insulting Anzu. Anzu does not take it seriously, but is later bullied by the math teacher, who was convinced by Chono's words. The signature campaign does not have much success and Miho tells Anzu of the rumor that the teachers are picking on the students that signed the petition. However Anzu remains optimistic about the campaign.

Jonouchi attacks the bullies

The next day, Anzu continues asking for signatories. She approaches three boys, but they reply that the rules are enough and begin to bully her, taking the record of signatures and breaking it. Jonouchi sees the exchange and tries to defend Anzu by attacking the bullies and punching one of them.

Chono takes advantage of the incident and calls Jonouchi, Anzu, and Yugi to the staff room, where she reproves the three, telling Anzu that she began the trouble with her campaign to change the rules and that she would be expelled. After this, Chono speaks with the bullies, thanking them for their support and offering to clean up their rule-breaking records. Yugi overhears the conversation and becomes angry, awakening Dark Yugi.

The puzzle's shadow game[edit]

Chono's Penalty Game

Dark Yugi emerges and challenges Chono to a game. If he wins, Anzu will not be punished. If she wins, Yugi will not tell anybody about Chono's plan with the bullies and will do whatever Chono wants. The arrogant teacher is keen to see Yugi expelled, so she accepts the game.

The game is a jigsaw puzzle, involving two mirrors and being blindfolded. Dark Yugi breaks the mirrors and explains that whoever recompletes their respective mirror first wins. He gives Chono a pair of gloves to prevent her from cutting herself. Chono thinks Dark Yugi is stupid and cheats by removing her blindfold. However Dark Yugi tells her that the game is a Game of Darkness, where a Penalty Game will be given to anyone who violates the rules.

Chono happily completes her mirror and thinks that she won, but Dark Yugi says that she used her position of authority to hurt Anzu and that she merely wore the "mask" of a teacher, hiding her hideous nature. Now her face would reflect her true nature. At the same time, Chono's facial makeup breaks apart like a jigsaw puzzle, revealing a now ugly and aged face, as her Penalty Game. Chono is horrified and runs away, crying. Dark Yugi says to himself that he prevented her from cheating.

Later, Yugi and his friends discuss Chono's lack of action about their supposed punishments. Jonouchi asks about the puzzle, still believing it to have been from Anzu. Anzu replies that it was a prank and Miho tells her privately that Mayumi has since confessed to a second-year senior and that Jonouchi did not stand a chance anymore. Chono uses more make-up to conceal her face. But the makeup continues to crack any time she acts tyrannically, such as trying to stop the relaxation of the rules by the vice-principal. She returns to the bathroom to put more make-up and complain about her new situation.
