• This card shares the same ATK and DEF as "Stardust Dragon" and "Elemental HERO Neos" as well as the same ATK as "Dark Magician". These cards are the signature cards of Yusei Fudo, Jaden Yuki, and Yugi Muto, respectively, who are the previous protagonists from the first three series of the anime. This card is Yuma Tsukumo's signature card.

• This card has the number "39" on his left shoulder.

• The artwork book of Kazuki Takahashi released on December 2011 revealed that this card originally had the number "3" instead of "39", as the artwork shows "03" on Utopia's shoulder.

• The 3 in this card's number probably refers to the fact that it was one of the first three Xyz monsters released into the real game. The number 9 in this card's number is equal to 3 to the power of two. This may possibly reference the fact that this card was the second Number monster shown in the anime, or that it requires 2 XYZ materials to summon.
  • The number 3 could also reference the pronunciation of the Japanese "3" as "san" which can also be katakana for "sun". This could have been a reference to Yuma's sun-like power to "illuminate" people's hearts as said in episode 22. The number 9 may also be a reference to Yuma's last name Tsukumo, written as "九十九" which is also the way to write "99" in Japan (the nine is written as "九").

• This card is one of the first three Xyz Monsters to be released. The second is "Gachi Gachi Gantetsu" and the third is "Grenosaurus".

• • Lately, another copy of Utopia has been found in the "Utopia Value Box", which features a copy of Utopia's structure deck, four booster packs from the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's era and a large, blown up version of Utopia's card.

• This card appears in the artworks of "Xyz Energy", "Utopian Aura" and "Generation Force".

• This card's head resembles Yuma's head.

• Referencing to this card's Japanese name, this monster seems related to the story of Pandora's box. The god, Zeus, told Pandora to not open the forbidden box, but she got curious. In the result, she opened it releasing all the evil into the world. Quickly, she closed the box leaving only "Hope" behind inside.
  • Number 39 appears to have taken its form and name from Yuma's kattobingu, as he never gives up until the very end.

• This card's English name, "Utopia", is a literary term used for a perfect society or community. The word originated with Sir Thomas More, in his 1516 novel of the same name.
  • Utopia is also derived from the Greek word for "good place" and "no place".
    • This card's TCG name and meaning (the former one, "good place") could also allude to the Heartland, the main setting of Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL. By that, the Heartland (in appearance) seems to be a paradisaical locale.

• The initial form of this monster is an ovular sword-like object of silver and gold. Most of this is its wings, which fold back to reveal the monster while its spikes pop out.

• This card's monster form is similar in design to the Lancelot Albion from "Code Geass" with a similar color scheme, transformable wings, and twin set of swords.

• When this card uses an Overlay unit it is absorbed through the orb on its chest.

• When "Utopia" uses his effect his wings fold together to form a shield.

• "Numbers" take the form of their original owner desires. In this case, it is to remain strong, never give up, and protect. The result is a Warrior-type monster who can negate attacks by detaching an "Xyz Material" from it, preventing monsters from being destroyed, and protecting a player from direct attacks.
  • This card's effect may represent Yuma himself, as by detaching one Overlay Unit, it negates an attack, protecting the monster or person being attacked, like how Yuma would go out of his way to protect his friends or anyone else; as well as his refusal to give up even when a situation is at its grimmest for him.

• "Utopia" appears to be the most loyal Number to Astral: In episode 37 when Dark Mist attacked Astral, "Utopia" protected him. Also Utopia acted completely on his own as both Astral and Dark Mist were clearly surprised, implying that "Utopia", like "Number 83: Galaxy Queen" and "Dark Mist", has a mind of his own.

• As Black Mist can be seen as the dark counterpart to Astral, "Utopia" can be seen as the light counterpart to Black Mist's card form.
  • Another opposite for these two cards can be seen with where the number 9 is on their number. Utopia has the number 9 in the ones column while Dark Mist has the number 9 in the tens column.

• This card is the first card to be Cover Card of 2 different Starter Decks.
  • In the Xyz Symphony Starter Deck, "Utopia's" Set Number is YS12-EN039, which is the same as its number.
