- This can be a staple card if you're running a Deck like Dragon's Roar.
- You can use "DNA Surgery" or "D. Tribe" to boost "Dark Paladin"'s ATK by turning all monsters on the field to Dragon-Type, or "Rebirth Judgment" to change all monsters in both players' Graveyards to Dragon-type. (Note: "Rebirth Judgment" is only available in Tag Force 3 and Tag Force 4)
- This card works great in a combo with "Jinzo","Royal Decree" or "Sorcerer of Dark Magic". This combo would make it so that the only effects that your opponent can use are Effect Monster effects. Even then, "Destiny Hero - Plasma" or "Angel O7" can negate those.
- You can use Summoner's Art to pull a Dark Magician from your deck, so if you have Polymerization and Buster Blader, (or a fusion-substitute monster) in your hand, you can Summon Dark Paladin easily.
- By having "Fusion Sage", "Emblem of Dragon Destroyer", "Future Fusion" and on the field "Skilled Dark Magician", use first "Fusion Sage" to bring "Polymerization", then "Emblem of Dragon Destroyer" to add "Buster Blader" to your hand and finish with "Future Fusion" to summon "Five-Headed Dragon". Then use "Skilled Dark Magician's" effect to bring "Dark Magician" on your side of the field and fuse it to bring "Dark Paladin" with an attack of 5400. And later you would have your "Five-Headed Dragon" with 5000 ATK points and also increase "Dark Paladin's" to 5900.
- This card overcomes Buster Blader's main weakness, that it relies on the opponent using a specific kind of monster to power up. This card powers up if you also use Dragons, making it extremely handy.
- A card that combos extremely well with this is Mirage Dragon. It doesn't completely lock down traps, but it prevents your opponent from using traps during the Battle Phase, which tend to be the most troublesome traps, and boosts this card's ATK by 500 at the same time.
- If you're lucky to have two in your deck, this combo can help you a lot. All you need is Fusion Recovery and Emblem of Dragon Destroyer. Play Polymerization and then Fusion Recovery in which you retrieve Dark Magician and Polymerization from the Graveyard. Then play Emblem of Dragon Destroyer to regain Buster Blader and Re-Fuse.
- You can use Dark Paladin's effect to discard Ojamagic, giving you more cards to discard due to Ojamagic.
- If you face an empty field, you can attempt an OTK with this card. Attack directly with Dark Paladin, then activate "De-Fusion" to Special Summon Dark Magician and Buster Blader from your Graveyard. Attack directly with both for exactly 8000 damage (2500+2600+2900=8000).
- Use King of the Swamp to make Dark Paladin easier to Summon, since it can act as a Fusion substitute and a way to search out Polymerization. Using King of the Swamp also allows you to focus on either Dark Magician or Buster Blader, without having to include the other one in your Deck.
