  • Since this is an extremely important card to certain Decks (much like "Umi" and "A Legendary Ocean") you might decide to use "Field Barrier" to keep this card protected at all times.
  • Use "Gravity Bind" with the monsters used for "Wetlands", since they are all level 2 or lower and all level 4 or higher monsters can't attack; this is a classic twist on the "Hydrobind" strategy.
  • "Star Boy" works well in combination with this card, giving you a 2250 ATK monster that can also power-up all your other WATER monsters by 500 ATK.
    • Additional copies of "Star Boy" will also boost each other's ATK, for a grand total of 3250 ATK each when all three are on the field.
  • "Ooguchi" (raised to 1500 ATK) and "Unifrog" (raised to 1600 ATK) work well with this card, giving you strong direct attackers.
  • Use this with "Oppressed People" (Level 1/Aqua), to raise it to 1600 ATK, then equip it with "Amulet of Ambition", which boosts it to 3100 ATK when attacking a Level 4 monster.
  • Use "Limit Reverse" to Summon weak 1000 ATK or less monsters such as the ones that get powered up by "Wetlands", or you can also bring back "Star Boy" (or possibly "Nightmare Penguin") for a surprise power-up when you need it most.
  • "Cryomancer of the Ice Barrier" is a Tuner monster card that is Level 2/Aqua-Type/WATER that has 1300 ATK; "Wetlands" makes him a 2500 beat stick. Also, if another "Ice Barrier" monster is on your side of the field, monsters Level 4 or higher cannot attack. However, that would not be detrimental to a "Wetlands" Deck as most of your monsters (if not all of them) would be less than level 4 anyway.
  • "Salvage" can bring back 2 of your "Wetlands" monsters to your hand.
  • "Junk Synchron" can bring back one of your "Wetlands" monsters from the Graveyard, and - more importantly - if the monster is exactly Level 2, you can immediately Synchro Summon "Junk Warrior", who gains ATK equal to the attack of all of your Level 2 or lower monsters. "Junk Warrior" can become the card of choice in a "Wetlands" based "Frog" Deck.
  • You can use "Falling Current" to turn a higher Level Aqua-Type/WATER monster to Level 1 or 2 and give it a power boost thanks to this card.
  • As the "Paleozoic" archetype is largely comprised of Trap Cards that can treat themselves as Level 2 WATER Aqua-Type monsters, this card can give all of those cards a significant ATK boost.
