When this card is Normal Summoned or Special Summoned successfully, you can add 1 Spell Card from your Graveyard to your hand. A monster that is destroyed by this monster as a result of battle is removed from play instead of going to the Graveyard. When this card is destroyed or removed from the field, it is removed from play.

Why would you have a Dark Magician when you have a Dark Magician of Chaos? It's not as good as Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning, but it has the added bonus of not being banned.
2800 ATK, 2-Tributes, and is very useful for preventing cards such as Sangan and Witch of the Black Forest] from resolving, since the cards in question wouldn't go to the Graveyard if attacked, instead, being removed from play immediately. But, this card has a major downside. When it is removed from the field (Be it via a Card Effect or Battle), it is Removed from Play. This includes if the card is returned to the owner's hand, or if it destroyed or tributed.
