So, yeah this WDC is based on Abyss Rising. Personally, I LOVE this set, it's a huge mess of WATER based cards! Which I love, since a WATER deck was the first deck I every tried to make competitive. The only main requirement(s) for the decks are creativity, fun, and they must use some cards from ABYR to support their strategy/theme.

Guidelines

  • All OCG and TCG are fine, as long as it has an effect.
  • This contest will be in March 1st, 2012 Banlist.
  • You may not add/remove any decks from the Registration Area.
  • You will be given maybe 1 day if you are late to post, after that, you're out.
  • Due July 31, 2012.

Registration

Example of Registration

Lightsworns are not in this WDC.

Decks/Cards to Choose From

I suggest you all look through the cards in ABYR. There are support cards for some of these cards in that set.

Only 2 contestants per deck/theme/card, unless there is high demand.

Comments? Questions?

You guys know how this works. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 14:40, July 14, 2012 (UTC)

I'll join if I feel there aren't enough members. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 14:47, July 14, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah....DN dosen;t have all the cards yet for at least 3 of the above topics. If that is an issue, I can delay the deadline or cancel the contest for now. Reply to this comment if you can. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 15:21, July 14, 2012 (UTC)
maybe you can wait until they are available in DN because we cannot see their capabilities yet --SharkTenjo
I totally agree with SharkTenjo, it would be very helpful to try out these cards on DN before publishing the decks here. Nephthy (talkcontribs) 13:24, July 15, 2012 (UTC)
Done, I'll tell Gadjilitron and DSAX, although ABYR should all be in DN by the end of July, or at least that's what the card status page says. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 14:10, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

can i play Killerman3333 (talkcontribs) 00:54, July 19, 2012 (UTC)

Uh.....this is only a deck building tournament. No dueling is involved in here. Unless you mean that playing is deckbuilding. 0__0 Fallensilence (talkcontribs) 05:14, July 19, 2012 (UTC)

testing dude. How can you sure your deck goes smootly if you do not test it? --SharkTenjo

Right.....forgot about testing. Back when I was your age, DN didn't ex....snore.......Fallensilence (talkcontribs) 19:27, July 19, 2012 (UTC)

You can join if you want, but the cards aren't on DN yet. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 21:05, July 19, 2012 (UTC)

then challenge accepted and game on. --Killerman3333 (talkcontribs) 06:23, July 22, 2012 (UTC)

The set has arrived in DN. Also dude i think u forgot other arhcetypes in the set like Penguin or Nimble. --SharkTenjo

Instead of using a template, can I just show the picture of the deck list? Fallensilence (talkcontribs) 18:58, July 23, 2012 (UTC)

I'd rather you just use the Template. Although, a link should be fine, only draw-back is, not everyone will know what all the cards are. And the Contest is back on, since all the cards are on DN. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 22:20, July 23, 2012 (UTC)
You mind considering Penguins? They did return in ABYR --SharkTenjo
We already did Penguins, plus they only got a few support cards. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 17:15, July 24, 2012 (UTC)

Requesting early submission. It's 30th July in my time zone, but I won't be available for the next couple days or so. Unless the submissions section is set up a little early... --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 02:34, July 30, 2012 (UTC)

Postponed Until Further Notice

Not all the cards are available on DN, so we'll wait until the end of July to restart this contest (By the end of July the cards should be up, based on the Card Status page), or as soon as the cards are available. I'll inform you all of when that happens. If the cards are available, it would be fine to work on it, but I'd prefer if you could wait. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 14:14, July 15, 2012 (UTC)

Contest is now Back-Up

All cards are on DN, so contest can resume. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 22:23, July 23, 2012 (UTC)

Ice Counter

Okay yeah boo me. I just used rabbits. I was thinking of Ice Heroes and Ice Gishkis but I had trouble with those. So without further ado, Snow Rabbits.

Here's how it works. You use Rescue Rabbit to get Gagagigos or Kabazauls. Then you either Xyz for Bahamut Shark or Snowdust Giant to get Ice counters. How with Bahamut Shark do you wonder? You'll need the help of Snowman Creator. Use Bahamut Sharks eff to bring out Submersible Carrier Aero Shark or any other rank 3 monsters, then next turn, summon Snowman Creator and use it on one of your opponent's monsters and bam! Three counters and a destroy one on the go. If you are lucky enough to have 3 water monsters on your side of the field and you summoned him, you can go for Snowdust Dragon if you are lucky to get him to your hand! If you are in a pinch and Bahamut Shark isn't available, try Snowdust Giant to even out the playing field against powerful monsters! Or better yet, use Kabazauls to bring out the Evolzars for safety measures!

I can't say much but yep that is the combo for the Snow Rabbit deck. The Cold Enchanter and the Snow Dragon is a "just in case" for more Ice counters. The Darkworld Shackles is used to keep a monster there to dump Ice counters at. And as for Snowman Eater.....yeah I couldn't find any room for him. I also wanted to test out Forbidden Garments for fun. Sorry if I can't think of anything else creative with Ice Counters. And Nexusshiker, Spongebob and Brooklyn Rage, feel free to kill me, I probably shouldn't have used your dinos without permission. Fallensilence (talkcontribs) 23:38, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Ice Spirit God - Moulin Glace

Gadjiltron

Right then. Normally, I could just construct any WATER Deck and splash in Moulin Glace, but where's the fun in that? Instead, I shall create something a little different that controls the Graveyard for Moulin Glace's summon.

Yes, this is an Orca Mega-Fortress of Darkness Deck. The main idea is to Summon Orca with A Legendary Ocean out, and then shoot out components of the opponent's field with its ammunition. The very act of firing off its ammunition will already do a fair amount of Graveyard filling. Mermail - Abysspike is also thrown in to help search for ammunition or Spined Gillman (and this will also fill the Graveyard). Gillman's also of great importance because it boosts Orca's otherwise craptacular (for its Level) ATK to decent levels.

If the Graveyard overfills, Salvage and Surface can be used to remove monsters from it and place them where I'd like them to be. Surface works particularly well with the ammo monsters since they effectively turn it into a 1-for-1 removal card. Aquamirror Cycle is present to recycle bigger monsters which Salvage can't touch, like Orca, Armed Sea Hunter or Warrior of Atlantis. Even Moulin Glace can be returned to the hand if necessary!

As for the other cards... Armed Sea Hunter is splashed in for offensive pressure and monster effect negations. Aegis of the Ocean Dragon Lord pretty much protects all my lesser monsters, but often most importantly Gillman, since the ATK boost is usually needed to fend off bigger monsters. Leviathan Dragon, Black Ray Lancer, and Gantetsu are intended to be used while ALO is de-levelling my monsters so that they can be valid for their summons.

Orca destroys the field and forces the opponent to consume their resources. Moulin Glace mops up what's left of their hand. A perfect partnership from distant eras. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 03:45, August 2, 2012 (UTC)

SharkTenjo

Hey guys! Well before i continue, i tried discussing that if Ace would allow Penguins as my deck made fits in the theme more. But anyways Moulin Glace is still included. So heres what i came up with.

Penguins now is very good as it is easily searched by 2 in the deck using their Emperor and some assistance from Rescue Rabbit. With this i can instantly Xyz Summon in Penguins. The monsters summmoned by Rabbit are Flying Penguin and Bolt Penguin. The Emperor can summon other Penguins including Nightmare Penguin. The problem with this is that Penguins are low leveled. This can be easily soleved by the new Umi, The Forgotten City of Lemuria. When i summoned these 2 Penguins, Lemuria can make the Flying Penguins lvl 6 and the Bolt Penguin lv5 which are very powerful monsters. With this fast search, the graveyard can easily be filled with water, enough to summon Moulin Glace the Elemental Lord.

The problem with the Emperor is that it is lvl 5, so it might need a tribute. So Treeborn solves this and is also water and can control the Water count. Swap and Foolish dumps Treeborn and with Treeborn coming, i can use Doggy!? to search for Baby Penguin and is very useful. It can resurrect the Emperor for another round of Xyz and may recycle other penguins especially Nightmare Penguin. I added Moray as it is a good draw engine and in some times, i draw 2 copies of my vanilla Penguins so Rabbit may no longer summon them as 2 copies are in hand so Moray solves this by returning to hand. Terraforming searches Lemuria as it is very important and Salvage recycles my monsters especially Nightmare or Baby. I did not add Penguin Soldier as my main goal is Xyz summon and his Level (which is 2) is not quite good for me as i use Lv 3 or 4. Hope you like it. Thank you! ----SharkTenjo 10:46, August 1, 2012 (UTC)

Heraldic Beast

I wanted to create a Heraldic Beast deck because I like Tron in the anime, but I knew there aren't enough cards for a pure Heraldic Beast deck. So finally, I fused them with another archetype. First with Divine Wind of Mist Valley as it can summon monsters from the deck, and both Heraldic Beasts are WIND attribute. Maybe it was my fault, but it didn't work at all. There were not enough Heraldics in my grave, so I could not use Aberconway's and High Medallion Arts' effect. So after a few super lame tries, I put them in a Dragunity deck. Ravine can send any Dragons to my grave, so I always have "food." Also, later on the game, Aberconway fuels Ravine. This is an Anti-Extra-deck deck. Most decks rely on Synchro and/or Xyz monsters. My T.G. Hyper Librarian and Crimson Blader are counters to a Synchro deck, Number 8 is a good counter to an Xyz deck. I Don't have a lot of monsters, because Ravine can search for any Dragunities or send Aberconway to the grave. This deck always has a monster. I can Synchro or Xyz summon every turn, and the opponent can't, or I can use his/her monsters' effects later. This way I can control the field, simple. Not made against Tier1, and OTK decks, but sometimes I can surprise the weaker ones. The Spell/Trap support is the usual, except High Medallion Arts, Ravine and Icarus Attack, these cards support Dragunities/Heraldics. Also, Retaliation is a new card, I can rarely use it, but when I can, it's a free Monster Reborn/Dark Hole etc. Awesome! The others are the obvious staples + Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror is in most of my decks, as it cripples DW and Inzektor decks. The whole deck is very flexible, if you want, you can easily make it an Assault Mode, Accel Synchro, Disaster Dragon, instant Xyz or any kind of deck. Mermail

Here's another deck from me. Not my greatest, in my opinion (which says a lot about the deck really), but I guess it's okay. Basically, given the right field, you could Xyz Summon monsters from Rank 3 - Rank 10 (if you have no LV4s or Poseidra, then the cap is Rank 8, and if you have no Poseidra then the cap is Rank 9) and beatdown the opponent. However, the summoning isn't quite fast enough, and it's hard to put all the needed monsters from all the Ranks in one Extra Deck, so, preferably, you have cards like "Photon Strike Bounzer", "Number 40", "Leviair", "Number 11", "Wind-Up Zenmaio", and, if you've proved you can summon Rank 9 and 10 monsters, "Number 9" and "Gustav".

A lot of cards Special Summon other cards. Poseidra summons itself, from the hand OR Grave, which is strong and helpful, Diva speeds the deck up a bit with her Search/Synchro effect, and cards like Abyssphere, Abyssquall and Bubble Bringer summon more monsters out. Foolish Burial assists Reborn, Squall and Bubble to help keep the field. Other cards, like Moray and PoD bring more cards to the hand at a very quick rate. Unfortunately, if you don't have enough monsters in your hand, or face a deck with immense swarming abilities (aside from Wind-Up, a lot of LV3s have discard effects) then it's hard to keep up. Anyway, enjoy~! --Darkskylarkalexanderx (talkcontribs) 15:40, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Madolche

OK i know what your thinking and this deck looks bad but after play testing it i can say it is good. first off let me explain the parts that make the whole. first we have butlerusk. he is used to get the field spell when another madolche is with him when he is normal summoned. next we have the dog. he is used to send a madolche card from your field to hand. this triggers ticket to get a search. this also makes him level 4. the next sweet is the which who when normal summoned can get a madolche monster to hand this can cause a small loop that can clear a field. then there is the maid who can fetch a spell/trap from the grave by getting flipped. note this also triggers ticket. the next is messager. its effect fetches a spell/trap from deck when special summoned while a beast madolche is in play. the ticket cqan special summon as can the next card. madolche cat. when normal summoned it can summon a madolche from your hand. setting of messagers effect. last the most dangerous card Chouxvalier. it can cause an opponent to be unable to penetrate your field. this is the loop. have a Chouxvalier in hand and one on field. the field spell must be in play for this to work. using desperate tag your Chouxvalier in hand gets summoned the one that got destroyed by battle goes to hand and you take no life point damage. what makes this loop so bad is waltz. it will deal the opponent 300 damage so long as the loop is not stopped. the last monster is puddingcess who during a battle can destroy a card nice also she is a fairy. neat. Madolche Chateau returns monster from grave to hand if they are returned to the deck as long as they are madolche. this is excellent for hand advantage against decks like wind-ups and inzektors. ticket adds a madolche monster to hand when a madolche card is returned from your grave or field to hand. unless you have a fairy madolche then the monster from deck gets special summoned. Mst for getting rid of little problems and same goes for book and heavy storm. dark hole is good for loading up the grave for queen. as for traps i used happy fiest which due to popular belief should be banned of changed. it aloud you to special summon every madolche monster in your hand. then during the end phase the get shuffle back into deck. this makes them go back to hand if the field spell is out and gets a search off if ticket is out. solemn for little problems. ultimate offering cause somtines this deck runs like gadget. desperate tag to do burn and safty loop. lastly waltz for the traps to inflict burn damage when nothing else works. extra deck queen to get rid of big problems. she can return to madolche cards to deck triggering Madolche Chateau and ticket to get a summon and get hand advantage but what is worst is her eff to send opponents card back to their owners deck. scary and only a rank four as well. the x-saber is for getting a four to set up another queen and reuse queens eff. alverd free detatch. everything else would weigh down the deck Killerman3333 (talkcontribs) 21:13, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

i forgot to mention this deck is good at making an opponent use allot of resources. this deck was play tested against all meta and antimeta and did quite well going mostly to game three or just winning a match in 2. Killerman3333 (talkcontribs) 21:28, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Fallensilence's Ice Counter Deck

Gadjiltron's Water Elemental Lord Deck

  • Fallensilence (talkcontribs) 21:16, August 2, 2012 (UTC) I would vote for myself if I did agree with my deck idea. Anyways, whales! Props to you Gadjiltron, props to you.
  • -Dark Ace SP (Talk) 00:42, August 3, 2012 (UTC) Truthfully, a couple of the decks could have gotten my vote, and a few of them have kinda caught my eye to work on in the future, but I think I'll vote for Gadjilitron, his deck just seems wired to get to Ice Spirit God. Although, the other decks were good too, and have made me want to maybe try them out. So no one should feel bad!
I doubt people would feel bad by only one opinion. Fallensilence (talkcontribs) 00:54, August 3, 2012 (UTC)
I never said they would, but as the host I have to say that. ---Dark Ace SP (Talk) 02:19, August 3, 2012 (UTC)
