Forum:Deck Contest 9: Ancient Prophecy Come True

From Yugipedia
Jump to: navigation, search

WDC9 is based on a prophecy. One that we would receive some important imports from the OCG in the new Ancient Prophecy set. Some of these cards go way back to when Yugi still dueled. Well, that prophecy came true, and we now have 10 new cards in the TCG. They are:

This time around, everyone will pick 1 of those cards, and build a deck to best utilize that card. They are first come first serve, so you had better get here and reserve your card quick. Entry will be until the end of Saturday, try to post your deck on Monday or early Tuesday. DO NOT enter early. Anyone who does will be disqualified. And for you veteran participants, please allow a little time for newer users to enter. Thanks, good luck to all! Messengerofthedark 22:01, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Contestants & Card

Can we...?

  • Use the new ban list?
Because the new banlist isn't in effect, please use the current one (advanced format) Messengerofthedark 02:29, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
  • Use another base deck, like zombie world for kasha, gladiators for card blocker and so on?
It doesn't matter how you use your card, just make sure that you can find a way to either make it a focal point, or a main support. Go ahead and splash your card into decks. Messengerofthedark 02:29, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Oh god if I had to use it in a Dinosaur deck I woulda been screwed Batteriespwn 02:38, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
  • Use ocg only (or currently only) cards?
Any card that is not Anime Only is fair game. DO NOT use a card that is on this list, unless it is yours. Messengerofthedark 02:29, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
  • Use copies of our chosen card? Killbolt 02:17, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
You may use up to 3 copies of your chosen card in a deck. Messengerofthedark 02:29, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
  • Does the card HAVE to be a MAIN support?--Hydronic 08:49, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
In a way, you have to put your card to good use. Messengerofthedark 18:54, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
  • Do you bulid a deck around the card you chose? Blackwingggys 21:25, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
In a way, it must be used, and it must be used in a good way. Do not add your card to a Blackwing deck, just because it must be in the deck. Messengerofthedark 01:27, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

The Contestants and Their Decks

Dino Bounce

Rocks aren't the only monsters that can bounce

This is actually a very fun deck because it has a combination of ways to go with it. First there's the massive defensive battle damage that comes from Sauropod, and Stone Statue ,then there's the bouce that can be re-used many times with Sauropod and Shifting Shadows effect and the occasional book of moon ,this can cause major damage from Grave Ohja, and give major life points from Spring of Rebirth. Tail Swipe is amazing because it majorly fits the theme of the deck. Hunting Instinct is obvious and can be very helpful when the opponent blows your monsters away and tries to get an otk field. Use Sauropod's effect to flip your opponents monsters face down and then use nobleman, its perfect. Compulsory and Force Back are very good for the deck, return your opponent monsters early so they can't attack weaker monsters, and get +500 from Spring. Soul Exchange is perfect because you don't attack the turn you summon them [normally]. Anyway, Medusa Worm is just an added bonus and Criosphinx is the same and it searchable by giant rat so its great. Basically it's a pain in the butt because along with the annoying bouncing, some monsters have nice attack clear the field to attack every turn.

Fusion Blast

What to do with 10000ATK

Well, the way to play this is to get Armityle to the field and ATK, then, if the opponent is still alive, tribute it for Catapult Turtle for 5000dmg.

Another way is to have uria hit the field (quite simple because of imperial customs) and have him take the place of Armityle, or serve as material for him.

Imperial customs is quite a main card as you can avoid paying LP for mirror wall, and have indestructible trap monsters. Curse of Darkness is at 3 because the deck has few (3) spell and is quite a good damage and ATK boost for uria.

It is pretty much a Stall-burn with OTK finish.

Decks with lots of spell cards will get a hard time as well as those without defense against effect damage. Killbolt 23:37, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

well this deck is supposed to help me get a quick win so that i will win a duel let the duel rock on!!!! i built this deck to be modleed after my original rock deck so i hope you enjoy! Blackwingggys 01:34, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Children's card game cards that are based on other playing cards

Would you like to activate a Spell? Trap? Monster Effect? TOO BAD!

I must make this Post short due to time constraints, and for that I apologize. College is a very time consuming thing.

The Main idea is to get out the Big guy, Joker, and swarm the feild for a quick win.

Joker Locks all effects, Marauding captain locks battle, insert monster destruction, and warrior power ups, WIN. Good Luck to everyone in the Competition.

Again, I apologize for such a short post as I would rather take my time in an elaborate explanation.

Tremble before the earth

A twist on the traditional Elemental Hero Toolbox. Anyways... Decree stops pesky cards like Mirror Force, Sakuretsu Armor, Dark Bribe and Solemns my opponent will throw at me. Lots of Earth Monsters, even the heroes are Earth. Polymerization + King of the Swamp helps to thin the deck and get a quick Gaia, since there are so many Earth Monsters you can get Gaia almost instantly. Also the original Heroes are here, just in case I run out of Gaias (not likely, that's why Sparkman is not in the deck). With Bladedge and Wildheart, I can make either Gaia or Wildedge. Mirror Force/Torrential Tribute is self-explanatory. Big Bang Shot is for more beatdown. Hope you enjoy. Toob 07:25, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Unity Makes Strength!

The title of the Deck is the litteraly translated french sentence "L'Union fait la Force". I picked this as a title of this deck because generally, Warriors' effects brings support to each others, like Marauding Captain, Command Knight, Comrade Swordsman of Landstar or Warrior Lady of the Wasteland, Card Blocker etc... These effects are either ATK boosts, Special Summons or Attack redirections, Deck Searching... This deck mixes the old Warriors, with the new Synchro Monsters. Since Warriors are the one of the most supported, most membered monster types in the card game, the new Synchros and Tuners might be too! (Like Junk Synchron used by Yusei, Goyo Guardian, Comrade Swordsman of Landstar...)--Hydronic 20:12, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Gaap Divine Wrath

Dont Hold Back!

sorry to leave the deck list at midway but now i can continue this deck is a quick burn deck and a punish to you opponent and by cards like Fatal Abacus and Chain Energy i can keep dealing damage to my oponent and cancel my cost and damage with Spell Economics and Des Wombat then by cards like Battle Mania,Final Attack Orders and Gaap the Divine Soldier your opponent should keep all of his monsters in atk position and i attack them with high atk monstersand deal battle damage so i quickly win the duel 190.141.88.119 00:20, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
