Rename[edit]

Due to the ridiculous number of naming issues this card has, I'd prefer not to rename it to coincide with the current TCG names. Something is going to have to give with the current TCG names, whether its an official name change or an archetype condition. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 14:35, September 27, 2017 (UTC)

I agree.--XBrain130™エックスブレーン130」 14:49, September 27, 2017 (UTC)
I suggest we rename it to "Rainbow Over Dragon"0123456789 The Great (talkcontribs) 02:59, September 28, 2017 (UTC)
We can't. That's precisely the problem. It is now a 3rd member of an archetype that was essentially erased upon translation into the TCG, and the TCG didn't see a need to fix that issue. And now that it has become an issue, we're left with a tremendous headache. Artificially adding in an archetype condition that calls it a "Rainbow Dragon" monster at least is no good, since that would extend to include "Malefic Rainbow Dragon". And you can't say that's a series rather than an archetype, because lo and behold, "Rainbow Neos" can be Fusion Summoned using this thing as Material, yet by current TCG card texts, it would appear otherwise. You could just call it a "Rainbow Dark Dragon" monster and call it a day; but doing that is ugly beyond belief and I think everyone around would be appalled I even said that. Like Cheesedude and XBrain up above, I vote that we avoid touching this issue with a 10 foot pole and just let Konami try and sort out this mess that they created. Should be amusing in some dark and twisted fashion or another. Aeron Solo wuz here (If you wanna talk) 03:38, September 28, 2017 (UTC)
Do you suppose it could be possible that Konami change the TCG text of certain cards to instead specify a card that has "Rainbow" and "Dragon" in its name (except Malefic Rainbow Dragon)? Has that ever existed in a card? I doubt it, but it may work...Computer Bug (talkcontribs) 03:38, September 29, 2017 (UTC)
"Ancient Gear" support used to do that in German, and I suppose "Avalon" does check two archetypes. However, it is incredibly unlikely that would happen here; it's far more likely that we'll see an archetype condition on at least "Rainbow Dark Dragon", possibly also "Rainbow Dragon" depending on the exact archetype name. --SnorlaxMonster 10:18, September 29, 2017 (UTC)
This is really a headaching issue, and an example of the ultimate failure of TCG RENAME. We might as well as rename it, and give a text "When using this card, you may treat it as if you are using Rainbow Dragon/Rainbow Dark Dragon", but that's simply irrevelant. OR

I hope either

  1. Konami keep this card OCG-only
  2. Konami Errata all card referring to Rainbow (Dark) Dragon.
  3. Konami tell everyone "Oh this card is Ultimate Gem God"0123456789 The Great (talkcontribs) 15:37, October 11, 2017 (UTC)
Or they can do what Grezar is saying they should do. Add the archetype condition ("This card is always treated as a "Supreme Crystal Lord" card"). "Supreme Crystal Lord" would be a great TCG take on "Ultimate Crystal God". (And them keeping this OCG exclusive definitely won't happen.)

The issue with this is that there's gonna have to be a helluva lotta reprints for erattaring, as much as I adore grezar's stuff. Sanokal K-T (talkcontribs) 18:39, November 23, 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, it would. But it'd at least be an excuse for Legendary GX Decks, or something like that, to make the process easier for them, and be an excuse to finally give us the Pendulums, Over the Rainbow and Crystal Hoard. I'll just stop there though before I lead this into another discussion.--Saffira, Queen of Dragons (talkcontribs) 21:08, November 23, 2017 (UTC)
They can't even give it a condition to treat it as "Rainbow Dragon". Over the Rainbow specifically mentions Rainbow Dragon and Rainbow Dark Dragon, so you can't use it with Rainbow Over Dragon. At this point, I think those two cards (Over the Rainbow and Rainbow Over Dragon) are specifically designed to mess with TCG's naming scheme.--Tharm (talkcontribs) 09:52, December 23, 2017 (UTC)
