Battle Phase

A Battle Phase is conducted every turn, after your Main Phase 1, as long as you have at least 1 monster in Attack Position. A Battle Phase cannot be conducted during the first turn of a Duel.

There are 4 parts to the Battle Phase:

• Start Step
• Battle Step
• Damage Step
• End Step

You automatically enter Main Phase 2 when your Battle Phase is over, or if you choose to skip your Battle Phase. Besides running out of Life Points if a card effect such as Morphing Jar #2 activates forcing you to Set monsters and you have no monsters or cards in general left in your Deck, you lose.
