• In the anime, this card is depicted as being summoned directly in front of the opponent's Duel Runner, preventing the opponent from speeding up.

• "Gate Blocker" is considered to be the one of the standard arsenal of cards that "Sector Security" uses to apprehend criminal duelists on the run.

• In episode 2 of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, Trudge is given a new deck to use in a rematch against Yusei Fudo. When he looks through the deck, "Gate Blocker" is one of the cards seen.

• In episode 3, Trudge Summons this card and forces Yusei to slow down because it appears directly in front of his Duel Runner. Yusei removes it by attacking it with "Speed Warrior" and using "Turbo Booster's" effect to destroy it. Trudge then used "Broken Blocker" to Special Summon 2 more. He used 1 of them along with "Jutte Fighter" to Synchro Summon "Goyo Guardian". The other was destroyed after Yusei switched it to Attack Position and he attacked it with "Nitro Warrior", winning him the duel.

• In episode 30, this card was used by a Guard of Sector Security against Crow in a Turbo Duel. Crow used "Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind's" effect to halve its DEF. He attacked it with "Blackwing - Bora the Spear", whose ATK had been raised to 5000 thanks to "Sirocco the Dawn"'s effect. The Security took 4000 Piercing damage, losing the Duel.

• In episode 31, another Security Summoned this against Crow and Yusei. He immediately Tributed it to Special Summon "Gate Blocker 2".

• This card appears alongside Gate Blocker 2 in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's World Championship 2011: Over the Nexus, but not as cards but obstacles in Duel Runner races in the game. Attacking and destroying said obstacles will yield items that can be picked up.
