Card Rulings:Elemental HERO Prisma
Contents
TCG Rulings
- This text is functionally different from the old text. Revealing 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck and sending 1 of the Fusion Material Monsters listed on that card from your Main Deck to the Graveyard is now a cost to activate the effect.[1]
- Elemental Hero Prisma [sic] can only be used for Fusion Mosnters [sic] that have at least 1 Fusion Material Monster that is specifically named, and can only be used to change its name to a specifically named Fusion Material Monster. You cannot reveal a monster like Five-Headed Dragon and send any Dragon-Type monster from your Deck to the Graveyard.[1]
- If Elemental Hero Prisma’s [sic] effect activates and resolves and later that turn Skill Drain is activated, Elemental Hero Prisma [sic] will still retain the Fusion Material Monster’s name since the effect has already been applied.[1]
- If the Fusion Material Monster that was sent to the Graveyard is removed from play, Elemental Hero Prisma [sic] retains the name of that monster since the effect has already been applied.
You must send the Fusion Material Monster from your Main Deck to the Graveyard. You cannot send a monster from your Extra Deck.[1]
- If Elemental Hero Prisma [sic] is already on the field and your opponent activates Prohibition naming Gladiator Beast Bestiari, then Elemental Hero Prisma [sic] can still copy Bestiari’s name and can attack or change its battle position. If Prisma is Summoned after Prohibition is activated, you can still copy Bestiari’s name, but you cannot declare an attack or change its battle position.[1]
OCG Rulings
- Showing 1 Fusion Monster to your opponent and sending 1 Fusion Material Monster to your Graveyard is a cost to activate the effect.[2]
- You cannot send a Fusion Monster from the Extra Deck to the Graveyard to activate the effect of "Elemental HERO Prisma". If you reveal "Elemental HERO Shining Flare Wingman", you must send "Elemental HERO Sparkman" to the Graveyard.[2]
- If "Gladiator Beast Bestiari" is declared by "Prohibition", "Elemental HERO Prisma"/"Phantom of Chaos"/etc can have its name changed to "Gladiator Beast Bestiari". If "Elemental HERO Prisma" etc was on the field before having its name changed, then it can attack, change its Battle Position, etc. If "Prohibition" was activated and later "Elemental HERO Prisma" etc was Summoned, then when the name of "Elemental HERO Prisma" is changed to "Gladiator Beast Bestiari", it cannot attack, change its Battle Position, etc.[3]
- To activate the effect of "Elemental HERO Prisma", you can only send from the Deck to the Graveyard a monster whose card name is specifically stated as a Fusion Material Monster on the Fusion Monster. Thus, you cannot reveal "Five-Headed Dragon" and send any Dragon-Type monster to the Graveyard to activate the effect.[4]
- Suppose the name of "Elemental HERO Prisma" is changed to "Elemental HERO Neos" by its effect, and then it and a WATER monster are used as Fusion Materials to Fusion Summon "Elemental HERO Absolute Zero". Afterwards, if "Elemental HERO Absolute Zero" is targeted by "De-Fusion", then you can Special Summon that "Elemental HERO Prisma" which was used as a Fusion Material, even though the name of "Elemental HERO Prisma" returned to its original name when it was sent to the Graveyard.[5]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[14] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. Judge List Rulings
- If "Elemental Hero Prisma" [sic] sent a Tuner Monster to the Graveyard, it would not gain the Tuner category. You could not Synchro Summon with "Elemental Hero Prisma" [sic] as the Tuner Monster, even if it had the correct name, since it is not a Tuner Monster.[6]
- When using "Elemental Hero Prisma's" [sic] effect, if you reveal "Rainbow Neos" you can only send "Elemental Hero Neos" to the Graveyard. You cannot send "Rainbow Dragon" or "Rainbow Dark Dragon" to the Graveyard.[7]
- "Elemental Hero Prisma" [sic] can be used with monsters with the effect "Fusion Summon with the above Fusion Material Monsters". The name of "Elemental Hero Prisma" [sic] has changed, so it is a proper Fusion Material Monster.[8]
- If you use the effect of "Elemental Hero Prisma" [sic] to copy the name of "Dark Magician" and you equip it with "Magic Forumla" [sic] in the same turn, at the end of the turn "Magic Formula" is destroyed when "Elemental Hero Prisma's" [sic] name returns to normal.[9]
- "Elemental Hero Prisma" [sic] can only send Fusion Material Monsters that are specifically named.
- Example: When you reveal "UFOroid Fighter", you would only be able to send "UFOroid" to your Graveyard, because it is the only Fusion Material Monster that is specifically named in "UFOroid Fighter's" text.[10]
- You could not reveal "Evil Hero Dark Gaia" [sic], because it does not specifically name any Fusion Material Monsters.[10]
- When a player reveals "Gladiator Beast Gyzarus" with the effect of "Elemental Hero Prisma" [sic], they can only send "Gladiator Beast Bestiari" to the Graveyard because it is the only Fusion Material Monster specifically named.[10]
- If you send "X-Head Cannon" to the Graveyard with the effect of "Elemental Hero Prisma" [sic] and later in the same turn you equip it with "Y-Dragon Head", when "Elemental Hero Prisma's" [sic] name returns to normal in the End Phase, the equipped "Y-Dragon Head" is destroyed because "Y-Dragon Head" can no longer be equipped to it.[11]
- After sending the Fusion Material Monster to the Graveyard, you can use "Elemental Hero Prisma" [sic] for both Contact Fusions (such as for "Elemental Hero Marine Neos" [sic]) and for Fusion Summons (such as with "Polymerization").[12]
- If "Elemental Hero Prisma" [sic] copies the name of "Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin", it can be sent to the Graveyard for "NEX", but no monster can be Special Summoned from your Fusion Deck. "Elemental Hero Prisma" [sic] is in the Graveyard, its name is no longer treated as "Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin", and there is no Fusion Monster whose name is or is treated as "Elemental Hero Prisma".[12]
- If "Elemental Hero Prisma" [sic] copies the name of "Gladiator Beast Laquari", it can be returned to the deck by the effect of "Test Tiger".[12]
- You cannot select a Fusion Material Monster that is not in your Deck. When you reveal "Elemental Hero Shining Flare Wingman" [sic], you can send "Elemental Hero Sparkman" [sic] but you cannot send "Elemental Hero Flame Wingman" [sic].[13]
