Similar to other real-life Twenty-One-type of banking games such as Blackjack, two teams of players add cards from a deck to their hand and sum their values to get as close to 21 as possible. When a Monster Card is drawn, its Level is added to the total, while a Spell Card or a Trap Card (regardless of their type) doubles or halves the current total value respectively. Before the player adds a card to their total for their turn, they must decide whether to draw up to 10 cards from the Deck or choose one of the six cards (which have their images shown but all other properites are obscured). When choosing from the latter, the player's partner will also guess which type of card (Monster's Level, Spell or Trap) After choosing their cards, one team may either "stop", being unable to add any more cards to their value (in which case the opponent draws, and the winner is determined by comparing both teams' values) or let their partner take their turn for setting the team's value. The team that gets the closest to 21 wins the round. If victorious, the player will be scored based on various factors, then they will continue playing more rounds until they lose.

Gameplay[edit]

Similar to other real-life Twenty-One-type of banking games such as Blackjack, two teams of players add cards from a deck to their hand and sum their values to get as close to 21 as possible. When a Monster Card is drawn, its Level is added to the total, while a Spell Card or a Trap Card (regardless of their type) doubles or halves the current total value respectively. Before the player adds a card to their total for their turn, they must decide whether to draw up to 10 cards from the Deck or choose one of the six cards (which have their images shown but all other properites are obscured). When choosing from the latter, the player's partner will guess the obscured card's properties (Monster's Level, Spell or Trap). After choosing their cards, one team may either "stop", being unable to add any more cards to their value (in which case the opponent draws, and the winner is determined by comparing both teams' values) or let their partner take their turn for setting the team's value. The team that gets the closest to 21 wins the round. If victorious, the player will be scored based on various factors, then they will continue playing more rounds until they lose. If both teams have the same score or have the same score difference from 21 (e.g. 20 vs. 22), the round is declared a draw and is replayed.

The player's partner determines how accurate they are able to correctly guess the card from the six pool cards; characters known to be highly intelligent such as Bastion Misawa will make more accurate guesses.
