Forum:A deck fit for a knight

I create many decks out of what i have, and I try to make decks with some cards I don't have. However, I have just recently thought to myself "What if I was Sir Shadow, the Ultamite Living Knight in dueling?". I now need help constructing a deck fit for that very name. I know the deck would revolve around warriors, however I don't know what I would put in the deck. please help me with some suggestions on what I might use. Just so you know, I don't want the deck to rely on Xyz summoning, and I want to include cards that can defend my monsters as well as my life points. Thanks if your able to help. --I may not be perfect, but thats who I am. (talkcontribs) 00:23, August 23, 2013 (UTC)

Well Sir, you may try a "Noble Knight" Deck, without the Xyz Monsters you could go for a Swarm/Beatdown version. --Missign0 (talkcontribs) 02:11, August 23, 2013 (UTC)
Noble Knights can't do much without Xyz Summoning. Don't get me wrong, it's cool to use Noble Knight Medraut to summon Noble Knight Drystan to destroy a card with Drystan, but that doesn't get the job done, at some point, you run out of options to summon. --Dark Ace SP (Talk) 14:33, August 23, 2013 (UTC)

Maybe a Warrior Toolbox? Well, they might not be as competent as they were in their prime, but it still somewhat fits the desired theme flavour-wise. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 15:20, August 23, 2013 (UTC)

Ok, this is what I have so far out of the cards I have:

Anything else I should add? --I may not be perfect, but thats who I am. (talkcontribs) 16:43, August 23, 2013 (UTC)

The Heroic archetype comes to mind, as well as the use of Rose, Warrior of Revenge for access to Colossal Fighter and Crimson Blader. Goblindbergh would be useful as well as it can drop into any level 8 synchro or rank 4 xyz, depending on the monster summoned. Jet-Black Nova (talkcontribs) 16:50, August 23, 2013 (UTC)

Ok, I'll consider a Heroic deck, as for a non heroic deck, this is what I have so far:

Although, I'm not sure on what kind of xyz monsters I would use if I included any in this deck. But remember I don't want this deck to be Xyz reliant. --I may not be perfect, but thats who I am. (talkcontribs) 19:30, August 23, 2013 (UTC)

Even without main deck Heroic monsters Heroic Champion - Excalibur is a decent xyz in any warrior deck for its once per summon 4000 attack points. Another good warrior is Koa'ki Meiru Bergzak who has a good 2000 attack points on a level 4 monster plus a decent effect all at the cost of revealing a warrior in your hand to keep it alive. If you really do not want to be extra deck reliant than consider The Seal of Orichalcos it gives all your monsters a 500 attack point boost but you can not special summon from the extra deck when it is on the field. (another drawback is it destroys all of your special summoned monsters when it is activated.) --Venom assult trooper (talkcontribs) 00:50, August 24, 2013 (UTC)

Find some Solidarity if you're going for a pure Warrior build, and throw in Rivalry of Warlords to shut down the opponent's summoning options as well. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 00:52, August 24, 2013 (UTC)

Ok, this is what I have so far:

I was wondering, would it help this deck if I where to add Marauding Captain, Valkyrian Knight, and/or Freed the Matchless General to this deck? Also, should i use 1 or 2 level 2 Mystic Swordsmen? --I may not be perfect, but thats who I am. (talkcontribs) 02:36, August 24, 2013 (UTC)

a few Marauding Captain cards are good with one you can xyz or synchro on your first turn (with a good turner like Comrade Swordsman of Landstar) with two on the field at once they form an attack lock to stop your opponent from attacking warrior monsters. Knight and Freed are both good cards and as for the matter of multiple cards of the same name I feel that having two or three of important cards if possible is always nice. --Venom assult trooper (talkcontribs) 13:09, August 24, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for helping me clear that out. This is what I have so far:

I thought I would add Utopia for it's effect, and the same with A. forces. Also, I notice that people are mainly suggesting monsters. Could you ppl also suggest a bit more for spells/traps? It would be helpful. --I may not be perfect, but thats who I am. (talkcontribs) 13:59, August 24, 2013 (UTC)

Threatening Roar is a good protection trap card. Dust Tornado is a great spell and trap destroyer (but it must be set first) and can make some good combos with traps in your hand if you use it during your opponents end phase. --Venom assult trooper (talkcontribs) 17:17, August 24, 2013 (UTC)

How did we forget The Warrior Returning Alive? Not as good as direct Grave-to-field revival, but an alternate means of monster recursion would always be welcome. Desperate Tag is also relatively okay for damage prevention while constantly placing monsters on the field, provided that you can keep monsters in your hand. Spirit Force also provides another means of damage prevention while searching for Warrior Tuners, if you run enough of them. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 01:02, August 25, 2013 (UTC)

Ok, this is what I have for the deck so far:

Anything else i might be able to add to this deck? how about 1-3 anti-meta cards? --I may not be perfect, but thats who I am. (talkcontribs) 02:05, August 25, 2013 (UTC)

Would recommend more copies of the important things.

For example, 2 Rivalry of Warlords should be enough to give you consistency while giving a backup copy in case the first gets taken out. (3 would be overkill, since you only need one active and other copies during that time become dead draws. Rivalry in itself is also an antimeta card.)
2-3 Warrior Returning Alive is also okay because most of your monsters are easily Normal Summoned with no additional cost, not to mention a few have effects that happen upon Normal Summon like Marauding Captain or Goblindbergh.
If you want to run more copies of Spirit Force, maybe throw in additional copies of Rose, Warrior of Revenge which are legal targets for its search.
More copies of Exiled Force and D.D. Warrior Lady can help you take down more monsters with different immunities to removal.
The Deck at the moment lacks means of taking down S/Ts, which would be troublesome since you won't be able to reliably counter a S/T reliant Deck. Pick up copies of Mystical Space Typhoon, Dust Tornado, Night Beam, and the like.

Ultimately, single copies of cards won't give you sufficient consistency, even if you're just defending/toolboxing to try to handle different situations, unless that's enforced by the banlist or unless said cards become frequent dead draws. --Gadjiltron (talkcontribs) 03:59, August 25, 2013 (UTC)

Ok, thanks for that. this is what I have:

I would need about 2 more spells, 3 more traps, and 2 more monsters to make this a complete deck. Any more suggestions? --I may not be perfect, but thats who I am. (talkcontribs) 15:31, August 25, 2013 (UTC)

Perhaps toss in another Marauding Captain and Koa'ki Meiru Bergzak both are very great cards so you want to draw them as much as possible. For spells another Solidarity and than any card you see fit would be good. For traps two good protection cards are Threatening Roar and Negate Attack. for your extra deck consider any other Rank 4 Monster Cards and maybe Rank 3 Monster Cards warrior monster (the rank 3 is for captain). good luck --Venom assult trooper (talkcontribs) 00:29, August 26, 2013 (UTC)

ok, thanks again. this is the final results of the deck thanks to you all:

Again, thank you all for helping me construct a deck fit for a knight. --I may not be perfect, but thats who I am. (talkcontribs) 01:21, August 26, 2013 (UTC)
