Forum:HELP! which deck should I make? (tantara)

So, I need help deciding which deck to start putting together cards for. My top deck ideas are -

  • Blackwing (when Raging Battle comes out of course)
  • Beast (most likely Synchro using Manticore and Shiba-Warrior for lvl 8 synchs)
  • Insect (Actually a viable deck once Crimson Crisis comes out)
  • Alien (I enjoy this type of deck, I won't make it if Cosmos Fortress is expensive XP)
  • Crystal Beast (Using this deck is fun and you usually win so...)

Just pick your favorite, keep in mind though that I want to keep the deck budget, do Blackwing wouldn't have Allure or DAD and Beast wouldn't have Baboon. Thanks! --Tantara 00:20, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

i find CB works great but u may find it hard to get some cards and black wing are kind of the same as Six Samurai their special sommon by the number of monsters on the field i run six sam and im going to try to do black wing because the diffrence is that u can use synchro sommons oh and try morphtronic there great and there fun to play with and so cheap does not cost alot


  • Yeah, CBs work amazingly, and the cards aren't TOO hard to find XP Black Wings I think will be harder to get as I'm guessing that they'll be popular when they come out XP I've looked at morphtronics and I have to say... they suck, even with raging battle, they still suck. I like aliens a lot, but beast now have a great sit in the new meta. Why not a core chimair when they come out? Killbolt 02:47, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

  • I say Crystal beast or aliens because they are both fairly fun types, I like crystal beasts because of their large amount of staying ability on the field. Blackwings have the unfortunate ability to die to prohibition of Jet-black whirlwind or a shadow imprisioning mirror...I know of course because I proxy them right now, buying the cards as soon as they come out (I only like the toolbox status and Icarus attack, favorite cards in deck are jet black and icarus). They also are a little harder to run DaD with but I have an idea so far how to I just don't want to throw out the money for a 60$ DaD (The cost around here). So yeah Run Crystal beasts or aliens, both are fairly good archetypes and do not show up that much in my opinion. As for blackwings meh...I hope it doesn't become too popular, it does have a serious weakness though, that weakness is shared with other swarming decks like six sams, loss of a large amount hand advantage if not played well enough. loss of hand advantage sucks..A LOT when it happens.--Takuma. 06:40, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Haha, I've been leaning away from black feathers for a while now, sirocco and qu'al (or whatever it's called) are just so good XD, and to Killbolt, Core Chimair suck. Their cards just don't work well together. Sorry if that's offensive to you XP

My opinion

I was looking at the Black Wing Archetype as well, and thought that I would try a deck of Blackwings as well. So that is my vote. My girl and I are making a Crystal Beast Deck at the moment for her, and with the money I have spent on this deck for her, I hope she enjoys it. You could put a vote for that one as well. I have tried a variety of concepts and thoughts for Insects, and either I don't have the right cards or something because those turn out terribly for me. No vote for that one, I have a good amount of cards for Aliens, but have never looked at any type of deck, so I have no opinion on those.

Basically what this rambling said was I like Blackwings, and CB's so that is my vote one for each of them.

Haha, Okay then XD, I've been playtesting insects with the new Crimson Crisis Support, They're not bad. I think Blackwing, CB, Alien, and Beasts are better though. Insects are just something that you can order off TrollandToad for $10 XD

My thought

Crystal Beast are pretty good and shouldn't be hard to get them. I'm using a Crystal Beast deck and it's really fun and can be powerful if build correctly with Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins. You can even throw in a Rose, Warrior of Revenge for a fast Synchro Summon. One advantage they have if your opponent uses alot of card destruction, it will benefit you. They also can swarm the field very fast thanks to their support cards and draw power with Rainbow Ruins and Rare Value. I'll vote on that.

Aliens are starting to get powerful thanks to the new supports in Crimson Crisis. They can easily weaken the opponent's monster (Burden of the Mighty, Alien Revenger), destroy you opponent's monster with ease ( Planetary Contamination Virus, Triangle Area, Cell Explosion Virus, Gol'Gar), control your opponent's monsters ( Alien Mother, Mass Hypnosis ) and swarm pretty fast ( Code A Ancient Ruins, Damage = Reptile, Alien Revenger, Alien Ammonite ). You can also throw in a Card of Safe Return for draw power if your going to use Code A and Ammonite alot. The only thing I will find expensive will be Gol'Gar and Revenger ( if they change its rarity, I hope not but they will like they did with Gol'Gar), the rest of them are rare and common. A vote for the Aliens.

Blackwings can be a very powerful archtype if you combine it with DARK support cards. They can swarm easly and can weaken your opponent's monsters with ease too ( take Armor Wing for example ). You can also combine it with Winged Beast support cards like Icarus Attack. I don't have more to say due to the fact I haven't look into them deeply. A vote also.

Beast have potential also thanks to Manticore and Green Bamboo but if I have to build one I will use the Manticore Loop with you can draw like crazy. I love the fact that they made Manticore unlimited and Green Bamboo so the Beast-Down Deck may succeed. Now they have potential. A vote.

I really don't yet see a card that will make Insect competitive or have a strategie, but it could be fun making one. No vote for them.

Try This

I would recommend a Dragon Deck. They've already made 2 Structure Decks involving dragons and also there are many different types of Dragon Decks. --ShiningDragon55 11:40, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Morph?

Hey... whey do morphtronics suck?

They are loads of fun to play. Not to mention that it is a cheap deck to make. My fave thing about them is magnen lock, then build up counters on clocken... O_O

the reason why beasts are not THAT good is because even though there is a loop with manticore, card of safe return is limited now. plus, many of the beasts are focused around either pure power with no effect, or trampling, and rarely anyone plays defence position monsters anymore i believe. the 3 archetypes u have listed are all good, for fun, why not try aliens? theyre cool but its kinda tiring to be keeping tracks of the counters.. my vote goes to bf though. theyre the fastest, strongest, awesomest, and outspeeds those other decks. Haha, Sorry, but Morphtronics just seem so situational for me, I can't stand them XP And the beasts that I'm talking about is a synchro deck. Giant Rat to search out Shiba-Warrior/Nimble Momonga, summon Manticore and synchro Manticore and Shiba for lvl 8 synchro, discard beast to keep Manticore. They're no longer mindless brute attacking XD

My Vote

If I had a say in this I would suggest either Alien of Crystal Beast because I have yet to see really any of them around any of the tourney's I go into. I mostly just see Tele-Dad/Dark, warrior and one beast deck. I personally love the Crystal beasts and think that alien thing though weird would be interesting to see in action.

i would say black wing but a pure blackwing deck would not be so good till raging battle. I don't know about aliens but I probably have a complete set of there cards kicking around somewhere. crystal beasts are cool they definatley are fun to play with so they get a vote and beasts will be different to what anyone else is playing. my votes are for crystal beasts and blackwing--Chaos soldier 22:49, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

I really want to vote for Aliens since they're getting a really nice update, and I've kinda had a soft spot for them since they came out, but then again, the Blackwings look to be absolutely insane a few sets from now...
