Magic (Magistus arc)

Magic ( Ma) is a concept in the "Magistus" arc of Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Stories.

Individuals possessing magic abilities are capable of collecting magic power in order to use magic.

Types[edit]

  • Invocation, known as summoning magic (しょうかんじゅつ Shōkan Majutsu) in the Japanese version, is the summoning of spirits from other worlds.[1]
  • Elemental magic (属性魔術エレメンタル・マジック Erementaru Majikku) is the controlling basic elements, including Thunder (雷), Wind (かぜ Kaze), and Fire ( Hono). The effectiveness of elemental magic can depend on the right person being in the right place at the right time with the right climate and terrain.[2]
  • Evil magic (じゃあく) has been demonstrated to be used to possess individuals.[2]

History[edit]

There was a time when only small shreds of magic drifted through the world. Because of this people were fearful or scornful towards spellcasters.[3] Because of this, Zoroa and Spoon[1] founded the town Graybeard, as a safe haven for spellcasters to live and practice their magic.[3]

Magic power from another world began to flow into Graybeard's world, sometimes bringing spirits with it.[1] Zoroa opened Theurgy, the gate to other worlds in order to embrace this flow of magic power. He did so knowing this would lead to the deaths of numerous people and other lifeforms, which he accepted as a natural consequence to begin a new era. However Aleister Crowley, Endymion, and Rilliona confronted him to try and close the gate before that could happen.[3]
