Ropo (ロポ Ropo) is a character in the Magistus arc of Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Stories. He is a servant to Endymion's family.

Design[edit]

Appearance[edit]

Personality[edit]

Ropo is a friend and former servant of Endymion. According to Endymion, Ropo served him well by his side where at present, Ropo still spoke to Endymion as his master respectfully. As such, Ropo was horrified that Endymion's brother would cause him to be possessed while trying to kill Endymion. This prompted Ropo to atone by listening to Endymion into being the latter's spy against his brother, which he accepted.

While possessed, Ropo would savagely attack Endymion and the others due to the 'evil magic' in him until he was freed. Ropo also believes in his role as a Servant. As such, while he was saddened by it, he never asked Endymion for money for his sick mother as he considered himself a mere servant.

Abilities[edit]

Ropo is a normal human who has not demonstrated magical skill of his own. However he read a spell that caused him to become controlled by evil magic. While controlled he had the following abilities:

  • Sharpshooting, firing arrows at a target, while remaining hidden
  • Reactive armor, donning armored formed by absorbing other-world magic. This armor enhanced his strength.

Biography[edit]

Ropo tells Endymion about his mother's death.

Ropo worked as a servant for Endymion's family and since Endymion was little Ropo was always by his side. He had a mother who was very ill, but the family could not afford to see a doctor. It was not permitted for a servant to ask things of their master, so he did not mention his family difficulties at work. However when his mother succumbed to the illness and died, Endymion noticed how distraught he was and asked what happened. Ropo confided and the shock served as an eye-opener to Endymion about the inequality people suffered, which in part led to him giving up his right to become king.[1]

Following Endymion's abdication, Ropo continued to serve the royal family. Endymion's brother assigned Ropo a mission to keep an eye on Endymion. And Ropo was given a piece of paper with a memo on it that he was instructed to read it if he got into trouble.[1]

Ropo observed Endymion's hometown, Graybeard, from a tree using binoculars, but fell when he was startled by Aleister Crowley. Ropo insisted he was not doing anything, but begged Crowley not to tell anybody that he saw him, before running away. He worried that he had compromised the secrecy of his mission, but remembered the memo he had been given to read if he got in trouble. By reading the incantation printed on it, he became engulfed in evil magic and fell into a trance, focused on his mission.[1]

In his entranced state, Ropo spied on Endymion, Crowley, and Rilliona in a forest. He shot an arrow at them, but it missed and hit Crowley's sandwich. Endymion grabbed his companions, ducked for cover and then cast a spell calling on the trees to capture Ropo, who became ensnared in their roots.[1]

Endymion immediately recognized Ropo, who then absorbed the flowing other-world magic power, causing him to don armor and become strong enough to break free. Ropo cursed and attacked Endymion, who realized he was being controlled. Not wanting to hurt him, Endymion cast a combination of elemental magic that resulted in the evil magic being burned away with minimal harm to Ropo.[1]

No longer controlled, Ropo apologized to Endymion and asked how he could make it up to him. He was told to remain in contact with the home country as if nothing happened and pass all orders that he received back to Endymion, without mentioning that to his brother.[1]
