Personality[edit]

Endymion is a no-nonsense man, who holds a prestige behavior that comes from his past when he was royalty. He can be quick to dismiss radical theories ideas, such as Crowley's suggestion of "other worlds" and "spirits". But open-minded enough to accept them after seeing proof. He finds Crowley to be somewhat annoying for his optimistic and rash behavior, but acknowledges his skill and knowledge.

Endymion sees magic as a way to enrich others' lives and has worked on ways of enabling people to use magic for good purposes. He abandoned his right to the throne to focus on such research. This ideal stems from his past when realizing the ill-treatment between high and low-class; He learned his former servant and friend, Ropo, had been unable to ask him for help due to his status and as such lost his mother to an illness. This resulted in Endymion wanting everyone to be equal to avoid such tragedies. He is kind-hearted enough to find a way to harmlessly subdue Ropo, when Ropo attacked him while possessed.

Endymion dislikes that those with magic are shunned by others for it, thus joining Zoroa in opening the Theurgy to unleash magic upon the world. But, alongside Crowley and Rilliona, he was shocked by the truth and fought against Zoroa to close the gate when learning people would die by the overflow of magic.

Abilities[edit]

Endymion is a powerful magic user, who focuses on research and study. One of his research methods is his attempts at crystalize magic power so that anybody could use magic whenever and as for long as they want to. He is capable of sensing disturbances in magic power, and holds the ability to fight utilizing his magic. Endymion knows many spells, including elemental magic. His spells include:

  • "Thor Hammer" (裁きの雷トール・ハンマー, Tōru Hanmā): a lightning attack. The spell had little effect on Cocytus, but Endymion attempted to improve it and Crowley pointed out that he was not using elemental magic to its full potential by using the right spells in the right environments.
  • "Towering Walls" (屈強絶壁タワーリング・ウォールズ, Tawāringu Wōruzu): Manipulates the earth to create two walls around a target.
  • "Double Cyclone" (螺旋暴風ダブル・サイクロン, Daburu Saikuron): Creates a tornado
  • "Fireball" (火球ファイアボール Faiabōru): conjures a fireball. This was used in conjunction with "Double Cyclone" to burn away evil magic.
  • A spell that imprisons a target and makes them float in a bubble sphere.
  • A spell that manipulates tree roots in the ground as way to mark a trail or capture someone.
  • The ability to create a magnified projection of an object by holding his staff over it.

Alongside Crowley, Rilliona, and Zoroa, Endymion can also call upon a guardian deity, Artemis in his case, to lend him power.

Biography[edit]

Endymion learns of Ropo's mother's death.

Endymion is from a noble background and was in line to become king. As a child, he had a servant, Ropo, who was always by his side. One day, he noticed Ropo was distraught and asked what the matter was. He learned that Ropo's mother had been sick and died from an illness and that Ropo's family had been too poor to afford a doctor. Endymion was surprised that he had not been told about this sooner, but servants were not normally permitted to ask things of their master. Since that day, Endymion came to believe that all people should be equal by nature.[1]

Endymion abdicated his position to his younger brother. He reasoned that his main concern was improving the lives of the people and that he could more effectively do that by pursuing his magical research.[2] He moved to Graybeard, where he was less well-known, enabling him to better immerse himself in his research.[1]

Endymion attempting to crystalize magic power

Endymion attempted to crystalize magic power on a disc above a bi-pyramid at his residence. He made two attempts only for the magic power to explode and the bi-pyramid to topple each time. He blamed the antics of Aleister Crowley and Rilliona for each explosion and scolded them at a feast later. Endymion denied the existence of Korozo, a spirit only visible to Crowley, and scoffed at Crowley's theories on other worlds and the ability to summon spirits from them. However Zoroa encouraged him to be more open-minded to all kinds of research as the full potential of magic was still unknown.[2]

The next day, during a particularly abnormal flow of magic power from another world, Endymion and Rilliona went to Crowley's house, knowing he had sensed something. Crowley led them to the source of the flow, a dried up stream and inadvertently summoned Cocytus in his attempt to contain the other-world magic power. Crowley gloated that he was right to Endymion, who suggested he show some remorse for making the situation worse. Endymion and Rilliona identified Cocytus as hostile and attempted to destroy it. Their attacks proved ineffective, but they were saved by Korozo absorbing the other-world magic power, causing Cocytus to disappear.[2] Endymion became cautious of Kofozo following the incident, having seen the form Korozo took after absorbing the magic power.[1]

Determined to improve his offensive magic, Endymion dragged Crowley into the countryside and asked for feedback as he cast his "Thor Hammer" spell damaging a boulder. He believed Endymion was not taking environmental factors into proper consideration when using elemental magic and gave a demonstration of more effective use.[1]

The next day, Endymion again insisted on Crowley joining him and Rilliona for more fieldwork and left traces of magic in the trees that they past in order to leave a trail to find their way home. The trio were attacked by a sharpshooter, unaware it was Ropo, under a spell and following orders to target Endymion. Unaware, who the shooter was Endymion grabbed his companions and ducked behind a bush. Using the magic he left in the trees earlier, he called upon them to capture the sharpshooter. The trees ensnared Ropo and Endymion then recognized him.[1]

The evil magic around Ropo caused him to grow armor and he attacked Endmymion. Endymion figured Ropo was being controlled and did not wish to harm him with a counterattack. Instead, he made use of what Crowley taught him about elemental magic; He cast a "Towering Walls" spell to restrict Ropo's movement, then conjured a "Fireball" and finally cast the "Double Cyclone" spell, which burned away the evil magic, returning Ropo to normal. Ropo was apologetic about the attack and looked to make amends. Endymion simply told him to report as if nothing had happened and notify him of any future orders from Endymion's brother.[1]

Rilliona showed a crystalline meteorite she purchased to Endymion, Crowley, Zoroa, and Spoon. Crowley spotted an image inside the stone, which Endymion magnified and projected. Crowley recognized the mountain in the image and Spoon was able to create a portal to take them all there. The group then followed a magic power into a cavern, where they found Theurgy[3], the gate to other worlds.[4]

Endymion, Crowley, Rilliona, and Zoroa all eventually became Magistus. However, Zoroa betrayed the others and manipulated them into opening Theurgy. This was to result in a flow of magic power into their world. Rilliona, Crowley, and Endymion attempted to combine their powers to close Theurgy, but were confronted by Zoroa. Endymion pointed out that the flow of magic power would result in many deaths and was disgusted by Zoroa's lack of concern. Zoroa attacked the trio and they fought back by calling on their guardians deities to grant them power. Artemis was called in the case of Endymion.[4]
