Camellia

Camellia (カメリア Kameria) is a character appearing in the Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Stories manga, and the antagonists of the second half of the "Sky Striker" story alongside Azalea.

Camellia is a clone of Roze, having been made alongside Azalea when their creator, Zard, felt Roze was becoming insubordinate. Unknown to Zard, however, both Camellia and Azalea desired to rule the world themselves and plotted to usurp Zard by killing him including those of Karma along with Raye. Camellia is ultimately betrayed however and later on she and her sister are ultimately defeated by the end of the series and perish together after their loss.

Design[edit]

Appearance[edit]

Camellia in her uniform and suit.

Camellia resembles an older Roze (about the same age of Raye, who's 15), and to a larger degree than Azalea, retaining her progenitor's fair skin and red eyes, although her hair is a lighter shade of gray (fading to green on the sides of the face) and much shorter, covers her right eye, and forms drills that drop down her chest.

Her normal attire consists of a coat resembling a military uniform, gloves, tights, boots, a brooch pinned to the collar, and a small purse hanging from the coat's belt. The overall outfit is black with light trims. It is almost identical to Roze's outfit, with the exception of lacking the scarf and peaked cap, and the addition of a small cape draped over her right arm.

When using the Sky Striker technology, she instantly changes into a black full-body bodysuit with silver and green trims (some parts of which appears to be padded or armored) and high-heeled shoes. This suit also resembles Roze's but to a much lesser extent than the uniform, as its design is somewhat less elaborate and lacking a helmet. In addition, a green sword with glowing stripes appears in her hands. This sword is significantly larger and broader than Roze's own, which is more rapier-like.

Etymology[edit]

The camellia is a red flower propagated by cutting, making them copies of the same individual. This likely references how she is a clone of Roze.

Personality[edit]

In the beginning of her introduction, meeting Raye, Camellia acts surprised and friendly. Despite having known Raye for only a short amount of time, she had immediately gone to save Raye when discovering she was in trouble. Willing to betray her creators to rescue Raye, claiming she learned to be good through a voice Raye suspected to be Ciela. In truth, however, she had lied.

With Azalea, Camellia and her sister pondered why humans such as them must be subservient to machines back in Spectra, quickly deciding to rebel and rule together. Plotting together so that for Camellia's role, she would go to Karma and gain their trust. Destroying them when Raye left to ensure no opposition may remain, destroying the entire town. Though Camellia was honorable enough that she was willing to spare both Aileron and Pylon and simply told them to run far away. Unlike her sister, Camellia doesn't show signs that she looks down on machine AI's and admits their continued reason to fight for humanity, even after they perished, is admirable.

Even so, upon returning to rule the world with her sister, Camellia was shocked to discover that Azalea intended to rule the world alone instead of together as previously agreed on. Her attempt at rebelling ending when Azalea uses the micromachines in her to stop her, much to Camellia's frustration. Though despite this betrayal, Camellia is unwilling to leave Azalea as they were born together as sisters, and continues to aid her to make a world for humans. Camellia admits though that she can't comprehend humans coming to an understanding when speaking with Raye. Becoming frustrated with Raye's words that they can and attacks in tears refusing Raye's words under the belief she and Azalea are right. Claiming what they do is needed for the world.

After Camellia and Azalea's defeat, despite Azalea's betrayal and reason for their dying, Camellia comforts her sister at their last moments. Admitting that in the end, they lost due to refusing to understand the human heart, but is glad she still spent her life with Azalea, with both 'sisters' passing away in tears.

Abilities[edit]

Camellia is a clone of Roze (who herself was genetically engineered) modified to be an even greater Sky Striker, having further-enhanced strength, speed, durability, and intellect. She easily overpowers Solferina and has the strength to destroy the entire town of Karma on her own. Capable of even pushing Raye back and only loses when Raye uses the power of Adhilsaber (Aileron and Pylon).

Like Roze, Camellia also appears to have innate combat mastery, and is capable of manipulating others to gain their trust as she did with Karma.
