A blank card is a card which holds great power, but can only be used when a Duelist evolves their level of Dueling in order to unlock it. It has been shown to guide its user to victory after their evolution. It also can refer to cards that do not have real form and are instead given their form by their owners, one way or another. Sometimes they become something that the owner desires, as seen with the "Numbers". When the blank card transforms, the front of the card lights up, and then the light peels off the blank card, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly, and the card isn't blank anymore. However in Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, it has often been used to prevent spoilers instead. "Soul Prison" cards also appear blank before a soul is sealed inside them.
Images of OCG/TCG cards without text, Level stars, or an illustration, may also be referred to as blank cards.
