Revision as of 20:23, 6 June 2023
This is a list of cards with the longest gap between their original appearance (in any medium) and their OCG debut.
Criteria
- A card's "original debut" is considered to be when the card first appeared in any medium.
- This is not necessarily an appearance as a card. It can be an appearance as a monster or piece in other games or forms of Dueling, such as Monster World, Dungeon Dice Monsters, and Diaha.
- This does not include cards based on concepts that were not gaming pieces, such as signature move cards, "Xing Zhen Hu", "The True Name", "Attack the Moon!", and "Duel Tower".
- A card's "OCG debut" is considered to be its first release in either the Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game or Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, whichever came first.
- Neither debut date includes pre-release material, such as trailers, advertisements, and sneak previews.
- If there are multiple OCG cards based on the same thing, e.g. the legal "Slifer the Sky Dragon" and illegal "Slifer the Sky Dragon", the import time is counted separately for each one.
- Monster Tokens are not included.
Overall
The following cards have a gap of at least 15 years between their original appearance and their OCG debut.
Because of the 15-year minimum for this list, no card which was released in the OCG before mid-November 2011 (exactly 15 years after the publication of Error rendering {{chapter}}
🛈 in November 1996, which featured the very first appearance of Duel Monsters) can be included here. Similarly, no card whose original appearance was after June 14, 2009 ( ) can be included here.
Prior to the release of "Mimicat" and "Roulette Spider" on May 16, 2015, no card had been released more than 15 years after its original debut.

- ↑ The manga version of "Chasm of Spikes" has the same Japanese name as the OCG card "Trap Hole" (which was released before the first appearance of "Chasm of Spikes"), rather than the OCG card "Trap Hole of Spikes". "Chasm of Spikes" was given a unique Japanese name for the first time in the anime, which is the same name used in the OCG. SeeCard Trivia:Trap Hole of Spikes for more information.
