• Neos' design derives from either the manga series Guyver or the Ultraman series.

• "Neo" is a Greek prefix meaning "new", showing him as the new "Elemental Hero".

• This card is very similar to "Dark Magician". Both have similar stats, are supported by a variety of cards, and are the top cards of their respective owners' Decks (Jaden Yuki and Yugi Muto respectively, who are also coincidentally the main characters of their respective series). This connection is explicitly stated by Jaden in episode 179 of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. Coincidentally, Neos is a LIGHT Warrior-Type monster, while Dark Magician is a DARK Spellcaster-Type monster. The main protagonist of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, Yusei Fudo's, Signature Card is Stardust Dragon, which has 2500 ATK like Neos and Dark Magician, although Stardust Dragon is a WIND-Type Synchro Monster and has an Effect, unlike Neos and Dark Magician.
