Card Tips:Thunder Dragon
- This card can be searched by "Thunder Dragondark", "Thunder Dragonroar", "Fusion Reserve", "Fusion Conscription", "Thunder Dragonduo", "Thunder Dragon Fusion", "Chaos Zone", "Rescue Ferret", "Chaos-End Master", "Witch of the Black Forest", another copy of "Thunder Dragon", and other generic searchers.
- It's generally a good idea to use the effect of "Thunder Dragon"' as soon as it is drawn. Your opponent will know what two of the cards in your hand are, but there are no risk drawing another "Thunder Dragon" on a later turn, effectively wasting both the draw and the effect of "Thunder Dragon"'.
- If there are enough LIGHT monsters needed to banish for cards such as the Summon Condition of "Soul of Purity and Light", or the effect of "Freed the Brave Wanderer", discard 1 "Thunder Dragon" by its effect to search for a second copy, then discard the second to the Graveyard to search for a third copy.
- After "Thunder Dragon" is discarded to get two more into your hand, "Polymerization" can be used (using such cards as "King of the Swamp", if necessary) to Fusion Summon "Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon", a powerful monster with 2800 ATK, whilst effectively only decreasing your hand size by two cards.
- Nowadays the other 2 copies can Pendulum Summoned to Xyz Summon "Constellar Pleiades", for a powerful offensive/defensive monster.
- This card can also be useful if the card effect is used which require the cost to discard, essentially allowing such cards to be used for free up to two times.
- This card is good in an "The Forbidden One" Deck that tries to thin out the Deck so that all 5 pieces of "Exodia" monsters are drawn quickly.
- This card is good with "Eccentric Boy" to fill the hand with Level 5 monsters and Synchro Summon for a Level 8 Synchro Monster.
- Use this card with cards that benefit from a larger hand such as "Muka Muka" or "Final Destiny".
- Use this card with cards like "Hand Destruction", "Magical Mallet" or "Reload" to draw more cards.
- Running 3 of this card is useful in a "Batteryman" Deck, as they thin out the Deck so that all the important OTK cards needed is likely to be drawn. They are also good fodder for the effect of "Batteryman Industrial Strength".
- Use this card to Special Summon "Lightray Grepher" from the hand, and use the second "Thunder Dragon" to banish a monster from the Deck.
- Use this card in an "A-to-Z" Deck as discard fodder.
