In episode 23, Akiza Izinski uses this card during her Ground Duel against Yusei Fudo. She Special Summons this card from her hand via "Seed of Deception". She then Tributes this card in order to Tribute Summon "Rose Tentacles". In the next episode, Akiza revives this card via its own effect (as she controls "Copy Plant"). Akiza then tunes this card with "Copy Plant" (who was Level 5 due to it copying the Level of "Junk Warrior") in order to Synchro Summon "Black Rose Dragon".

In episode 40, Akiza uses this card during her Ground Duel against Yusei. She Special Summons this card from her hand via the effect of "Twilight Rose Knight". She then then tunes this card and her two "Evil Thorns" with "Twilight Rose Knight" in order to Synchro Summon "Black Rose Dragon".

In episode 61, Akiza uses this card during her Ground Duel against Misty Tredwell. She Normal Summons this card after her "Black Rose Dragon" attacks and destroys "Dragon Queen of Tragic Endings" a second time. On Akiza's next turn, she activates "Fragrance Storm" to destroy this card and draw one card. Since the drawn card is a Plant-type monster ("Copy Plant") Akiza reveals it to Misty in order to draw one more card. After Akiza Normal Summons "Copy Plant", she revives this card via its own effect. On the final turn, Akiza activates the effect of "Copy Plant" to make its Level the same as this card's Level. Akiza then Normal Summons "Hedge Guard". She then activates "Shining Rebirth" to send "Copy Plant", this card, and "Hedge Guard" to the Graveyard in order to Synchro Summon "Black Rose Dragon" from the Graveyard.

In episode 75, Akiza uses this card during her Turbo Duel against Tetsu Trudge. She draws this card via the effect of "Witch of the Black Rose". Since this card was a monster, "Witch of the Black Rose" is not destroyed. Trudge then activates "Climactic Barricade" to prevent Level 4 or below monsters from attacking this turn as well as inflict 500 damage to Akiza for each Level 4 or below monster she controls during her End Phase. Akiza then activates "Speed Spell - Summon Speeder" to Special Summon this card from her hand. She then tunes this card with "Witch of the Black Rose" in order to Synchro Summon "Splendid Rose". Akiza then banishes this card from her Graveyard in order to activate the first effect of "Splendid Rose".

In episode 99, Akiza uses this card during her Turbo Duel against Andre. She sends this card from the top of her Deck to the Graveyard in order to Special Summon "Glow-Up Bulb" from her Graveyard.

In the non-canon duel YCS Providence 2012 Special: Yusei vs. Akiza, this is the only card in Akiza's hand when Yusei's "Junk Destroyer" attacks her directly. She activates "Seed of Deception", summoning this card from her hand and causing a replay. "Dark Verger" is then destroyed by battle by "Junk Destroyer".
