* In episode 13, this card appears in the Shadow Duel between Yami Yugi and Yami Bakura. It attempted to reap Tristan Taylor and Joey Wheeler after the "Cyber Commander" and "Flame Swordsman" cards that contain their souls are sent to the Graveyard. Yugi revives them with "Monster Reborn".

* Panik then used this card in his duel against Yami Yugi. He used its effect to destroy one of Yugi's face-down cards, thinking it's the Swords of Revealing Light, but it turns out to be Spellbinding Circle. The Trap Card redirected one of Panik's attacks towards the Reaper, destroying it. In the anime, it targets Spell Cards instead of Trap Cards and is not a flip effect. This might have been the inspiration for the card Spirit Reaper, that has similar looks and symbolism and is destroyed automatically when targeted by an effect.

* In episodes 14 and 15, Panik plays this card against Yami Yugi. He attempts to use its effect to destroy a face-down Spell Card, which he thought was "Swords of Revealing Light". As it was the Trap Card "Spellbinding Circle", this card could not target it and that card redirected the attack of "King of Yamimakai" from "Curse of Dragon" to this card, destroying it.

* When Reaper of the Cards is summoned, it destroyed one Spell card on the field.

* Reaper of the Cards then made another appearance when Yami Bakura sent some of Maximillion Pegasus' guards to the Graveyard.
