The usual Deck-build rules don't apply here. A player can have as many copies of a card as he/she likes in their Main Deck, Side Deck or Extra Deck if they get more than 3 copies. Also, all cards that you don't use in your Deck are used as your Side Deck.

Sealed Format, also known as Sealed Deck format, is a format in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game and Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game in which players construct Decks using cards opened from products provided at the event. This format is commonly played at Sneak Peek events.

Format[edit]

There are two distinct ways in which a Sealed Deck format can be run: Sealed Pack and Booster Draft. In Sealed Pack format, players are given a fixed number of booster packs and/or a sealed pre-constructed Deck product, from which they construct their Deck. In Booster Draft format, players open their booster packs in groups (with the specific rules specified by the judge at the event).[1]

Deck construction[edit]

Only cards obtained from products provided as part of the Sealed Deck event can be used in the Deck. Players may not add other cards they own to their Deck, nor can they trade cards with other players during the event.

Unlike the Constructed format, there is no limit on the number of copies of the same card that can be included in the Deck.[1]

The minimum Deck size at Sealed Format events is always at least 20. Individual events may choose to set a higher minimum Deck size, but this must be announced beforehand. Any obtained cards not included in the Main Deck or Extra Deck are used as the Side Deck. There is no maximum size for any of the Decks.[1]

Re-draw rule[edit]

In Battle Pack 2: War of the Giants Sealed Play events, players can utilize a re-draw. Once per Match (not once per Duel), after drawing their opening hand but before the first player draws their first card, a player can place their entire hand on the bottom of their Deck and draw 5 new cards, then shuffle their Deck.[2] (At the time of Battle Pack 2's release, in the TCG/OCG the player who went first could conduct their normal draw on their first turn.)

The player who goes first has the opportunity to use a re-draw first. If they choose not to use it, they cannot use it that Duel, regardless of whether the player going second chooses to use their re-draw.[2]
