Traditional Format

In the TCG, the Traditional Format was created around October 2004 as a counterpart to the then newly-introduced Advanced Format and its Forbidden list, since some players, especially those that had been playing for longer, still wanted to play with cards that had become Forbidden. The Traditional Format does not have any Forbidden cards; cards which are Forbidden in the Advanced Format are instead Limited in the Traditional Format. The two formats are normally identical other than Forbidden cards; the only list specifically for the Traditional Format was in October 2005.

Traditional Format is rarely seen in Regional Tournaments, and never in World Championship Qualifiers or World Championship Events.

The OCG does not have a Traditional Format.
