Master Duel
Master Duel is the term used in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game and the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime to describe the standard Duel format, in contrast to Speed Duels.[1][2]
Master Duels have 5 Monster Zones and 5 Spell & Trap Zones (in contrast to the 3 of each used in Speed Duels and Rush Duels). Additionally, Master Duels include both Main Phase 1 and Main Phase 2.
According to Roken Kogami, only a Master Duel can unleash the true potential of Link Monsters.[2]
Similar terminology[edit]
Like Speed Duels, some other alternate formats have particular names to refer to the original format.
- In the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime, regular Duels are referred to as Standing Duels,[3] in contrast to Turbo Duels.
- In the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS anime, the original version of the game is referred to as Goha Duels,[4] in contrast to Rush Duels.
