- Tributing one Synchro Monster is a cost to activate "Synchro Barrier".
8901: Trap Card > Slip Summon
- The effects of "Slip Summon" do not target.
- "Slip Summon" cannot be activated during the Damage Step.
8902: Spell Card > Tribute to the Devil
- The effect of "Tribute to the Devil" targets the Special Summoned monster on the field that is to be sent to the Graveyard. You can also target a monster on your opponent's field that was Special Summoned.
- The monster targeted by "Tribute to the Devil" is sent to the Graveyard at resolution.
- "Tribute to the Devil" cannot be activated if you do not have any Level 4 or lower Normal Monsters in your hand.
8903: Spell Card > Insect Cage
- Removing from play one Insect-Type monster is a cost to activate the effect of "Insect Cage". This effect targets one of your opponent's attacking monsters.
8904: Spell Card > Flooding of the Mad Plant
- "Flooding of the Mad Plant" cannot be activated if there are no Plant-Type monsters in your Graveyard.
- The effect of "Flooding of the Mad Plant" does not start a Chain Link when all Plant-Type monsters are destroyed during the End Phase.

- The text "Return 2 WATER monsters from your hand to the Deck" of "Moray of Greed" is performed at resolution. It is not an activation cost.

- You cannot activate "Preparations for the Ritual" if you have no Ritual Monsters in your Deck which you can add to your hand.
- If you have a Ritual Monster in your Deck, then you can activate "Preparations for the Ritual" even if you do not have any Ritual Spell Cards in your Graveyard.

- Removing from play "Ritual of Salvation" from your Graveyard is a cost to activate its effect which stops the effects of Spell, Trap, and Monsters Cards from targeting. This effect targets one Ritual Monster you control.

- The text "Tribute 1 face-up Level 4 Gemini Monster you control" is a cost to activate "Gemini Spark". This effect targets one card on the field.

- The effect of "Spider Web Field" which changes the monster to Defense Position at the end of the Damage Step does not start a Chain Link.
