"Ring the Bell", known as "Bullet Buried in Darkness" in the Japanese version, is the thirty-ninth episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime. It first aired in Japan on February 14, 2018, and aired in Canada on January 12, 2019.

As Playmaker sprints across the bridge, the concrete crumbles under them, sending him and Ai plummeting into the chasm as Ai screams. Pigeon screams that he fell, and Frog gasps Playmaker's name. Ai repeatedly screams that they're falling (in the dub he begs for a parachute app), and Playmaker grimaces as he braces himself, but then he senses something. A Data Storm suddenly whirls to life below them, breaking their fall and hurling them out of the chasm and onto the other side of the bridge, much to their surprise. Pigeon spots them (in the dub, he wonders if the abyss regurgitated him), and Playmaker asks Ai if he did that. Ai replies that of course he didn't, and Playmaker wonders what he sensed. Ai tells him that more importantly, Playmaker should look at that - the third ring of the Tower of Hanoi is complete, and there'll be major trouble if they don't hurry. Playmaker agrees; it's over when the sixth ring is completed (in the dub, he states that they only have three hours left). He sprints off, and Frog wonders if Playmaker is entering the Tower of Hanoi alone, before getting fired up, declaring that since they've come this far they'll report on LINK VRAINS until the end, and Pigeon agrees. Frog tells him not to stop filming even if they're turned into particles, and Pigeon agrees again as they fly towards the Tower.
A long line of footpaths in the dirt traces The Gore's path to the Tower of Hanoi. He remembers being in his orphanage, consoling the upset kids and putting them to bed. After he left their room, his manager told him that he couldn't let him go to LINK VRAINS. Gore replied that he couldn't stop him because he was fired, and his manager observed that Gore was going no matter what. Gore thanked him for everything, and his manager asked him to promise him one thing; that he would promise to come back. Gore grinned, asking who his manager thought he was talking to; he is The Gore (in the dub, Gore makes no mention of firing his manager, who already admits there's not stopping Gore, and adds that he has to come back for the sake of the children as well). Back in LINK VRAINS, Gore declares that he will return, but as he approaches the Tower of Hanoi, he spots a silhouette in the dust ahead and comes to a stop (in the dub, Gore notes that made it to the Tower, and the voice of Varis declares that just because it is doesn't mean it's within his grasp). The dust dies down, revealing Varis, who declares that he can't let Gore go any further (in the dub, he admits that he didn't expect anyone other than Playmaker to make it this far). Gore asks if he's Varis, and Varis observes that he is The Gore (in the dub, they already know of one another and simply trash talk rather than discuss philosophy). Gore notes that Varis is using that Tower to destroy everything, and he asks what his goal is. Varis smiles, and he asks what the point is in discussing that, as Gore has no intention of understanding his goal. Gore admits that's true; he won't listen to the nonsense of a villain. Varis asks "Villain?" and then admits that he does appear like a villain. Gore tells him to be quiet; no matter Varis's cause, this can't be forgiven (in the dub, Varis tells him to leave, and Gore asks if he got taught that in cliche school and asks how often it works; Varis replies that it works more often than Gore would think). Varis snorts, and he tells Gore that he shouldn't have come here. The Tower of Hanoi absorbed Blue Angel, so Gore should leave if he doesn't want that to happen to him. Gore is shocked to hear that Blue Angel was absorbed, and Varis explains that his subordinate Specter defeated her, but Playmaker defeated Specter (as he speaks, he recalls both of their defeats). Varis's opponent is Playmaker, not Gore (in the dub, Varis instead equates Specter's loss to Blue Angel's, and vows to avenge him; Gore tells him that he won't get the chance since he's facing him). Angered by the mention of Playmaker's success and his own dismissal, Gore tells Varis to stop messing around; if Playmaker defeated Varis's subordinate, Gore will defeat Varis. Varis resignedly agrees, admitting that Gore does have the skill to defeat one of the three Commanders of Hanoi, so since he insists, Varis will Duel him. Gore scoffs, calling Varis arrogant, but is thoughtful behind his facade, remembering Playmaker's warning from Ghost Gal that Varis had a terrifying card (a powerful new one in the dub), but thinking that he powered up his "Gouki" Deck for a new Duel. He adopts a wrestling stance, suggesting that they go and the two face off, before both declaring "Duel!" and the Zones appear beneath them.
Gore takes the first turn, Summoning "Gouki Suprex". He explains that since it was Summoned, he can Special Summon "Gouki Twistcobra" from his hand. Then he chants "Appear! My circuit!" and fist pumps as his Circuit appears in the sky. He explains that the Summoning conditions are two "Gouki" monsters, and sets "Twistcobra" and "Suprex" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon the Link-2 "Gouki Jet Ogre". Then since "Gouki Suprex" and "Twistcobra" were sent from the field to the Graveyard, their effects activate, allowing him to add two different "Gouki" cards from his Deck to his hand.
Pigeon and Frog spot the blue explosion of light by the tower, and Frog tells his cameraman to look over there. Pigeon gasps that it's a Duel. They quickly head down to Playmaker and Ai, informing him that someone's Dueling by the Tower. Ai asks if someone is seriously Dueling (in the dub, they tel him that there's Duelists at 3 o'clock, and Ai acts horrified that he missed lunch; Playmaker tells him that this isn't the time for jokes), and Playmaker notes that since both Blue Angel and Specter are gone, then it must be The Gore and Varis. He tells Frog and Pigeon that it's dangerous here and that they should leave, but Frog replies that they can't (not noticing Playmaker turning away to head off) they know Playmaker and the others are risking their lives to protect LINK VRAINS, and Pigeon states that they'll also risk their lives for the truth - and then they notice that Playmaker is sprinting towards the Tower of Hanoi again. Pigeon sheepishly states that he left (in the dub he's surprised by Playmaker's speed), and Frog tells him to stop dawdling and go after him. Pigeon does so, calling out in affirmation.
Gore declares that he's not done, and he activates the Spell Card "Gouki Re-Match" from his hand, Special Summoning two "Gouki" monsters with different Levels from his Graveyard in Defense Position. He revives "Suprex" and "Twistcobra", then chants "Appear again! My circuit!" He declares that the Summoning conditions are at least two "Gouki" monsters, and he sets "Suprex" and the Link-2 "Jet Ogre" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon the Link-3 "Gouki Thunder Ogre". Next he declares the effect of "Thunder Ogre", allowing him to Normal Summon again. He Normal Summons another "Suprex" and then activates its effect, Special Summoning "Gouki Riscorpio" from his hand. He ends his turn there.
Playmaker, Ai, Frog, and Pigeon all approach the nearby cliff overlooking the Tower of Hanoi, finally reaching the Duel. Ai cheers that Gore is full of vigor, and Playmaker whispers Varis's name (in the dub, Ai praises the "biceps on biceps" of Gore's "Gouki" monsters, and cheekily asks if Playmaker is "jelly" of them. Playmaker replies that he isn't, and neither is Varis). Gore tells Playmaker that he's too late; grinning that he'll be the one to defeat Varis, and telling him to stay quiet and watch. Varis comments that Gore must be very confident if he's being distracted by a bystander when he's facing him (in the dub he comments that the only thing that can overshadow Gore's confidence is his delusion), and he declares his turn and draws. Frog orders Pigeon to start the broadcast, telling him to put his heart into it (in the dub, he claims that as journalists they need to be impartial, but cheers for Gore anyway), and Pigeon does so. The Duel comes up on Kolter's screen, and he's surprised to see The Gore Dueling Varis, and notes Yusaku's presence. He tells them to do whatever it takes to stop the Tower of Hanoi from being built (in the dub, he notes that Gore's been on a winning streak against the Knights of Hanoi, but Varis is a different story). Shima is also watching the Duel on his tablet in a café (in the dub he thinks that it doesn't get more flash than this), and the orphans, Gore's manager, and the orphanage owner see the Duel come on too. One of the orphans recognizes Gore, and they collectively tell him to beat that Knight of Hanoi and wish him luck. The orphanage owner realizes that this is why Gore hasn't been around, but Gore's manager reassures her that George will return and suggests that they believe in him (in the dub, she worries about Gore losing and never coming back, but Gore's manager points out that she teaches them to never be afraid to stand up to a bully). The orphanage owner agrees (her response is cut from the dub).
Back at the Duel, Varis explains that he can Special Summon "Gateway Dragon" from his hand since Gore controls a Link Monster. "Gateway Dragon" emerges from its portal, and Varis activates its effect, Special Summoning a Level 4 or lower DARK Dragon monster from his hand. He Special Summons "Sniffer Dragon" and activates its effect since it was Normal or Special Summoned, adding another copy from his Deck to his hand, which he promptly Summons. He chants "Appear! The future circuit that lights up my path!" and conjures his Circuit in the ground in front of him, explaining that the summoning conditions are at least two non-Tokens. He sets "Gateway Dragon" and the two "Sniffer Dragons" in the Link Arrows, Link Summoning the Link-3 "Triple Burst Dragon". Gore notes the 2400 ATK of "Triple Burst Dragon", but thinks that he can strike back with the effect of "Gouki Twistcobra". Varis then activates the Spell Card "Arrow Charge" since the two monsters in the Extra Monster Zones have the same Link Rating, allowing him to draw two cards and reveal them - "Link Protection" and "Triggering Wurm". Then he uses the effect of "Gouki Thunder Ogre", allowing him to Normal Summon an extra monster to the zone that "Thunder Ogre" points to, so he Summons "Triggering Wurm". He smirks, commenting that he used the effect of Gore's monster to his advantage (in the dub, he also comments that the best kind of sabotage is self-inflicted).
Gore notes that a Link-4 is coming, and Varis chants "Manifest! The future circuit that lights up my path!" He explains that the Summoning conditions are at least two Effect Monsters, and he sets "Triggering Wurm" and the Link-3 "Triple Burst Dragon" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon the Link-4 "Topologic Bomber Dragon". Gore repeats the monster's name, and the watching Playmaker notes that it's one of Varis's ace monsters (in the dub, Gore is the one to note that it's one of Varis's best monsters, and Playmaker comments that it doesn't bode well). Varis then activates the effect of "Triggering Wurm" since it was used to Link Summon "Topologic Bomber Dragon", Special Summoning it from the Graveyard to a zone "Bomber Dragon" points to. Ai yelps that this feels bad (in the dub, for once, he remembers the effect), and Varis states that this then activates the effect of "Topologic Bomber Dragon" since a monster was Special Summoned to a zone a Link Monster points to, destroying all monsters in the Main Monster Zones. "Topologic Bomber Dragon" ignites its energy wings as Varis declares "Decimation Destruction". Gore is shocked, but activates the effect of "Twistcobra" in response, Tributing "Riscorpio" to add its 2300 ATK to "Thunder Ogre" until the end of the turn. "Thunder Ogre" rises to 4500 ATK, and then the effect destroys "Twistcobra", "Suprex" and "Triggering Wurm". Varis adds that when "Triggering Wurm" is destroyed by the effect of a Link Monster, he can draw a card. Gore notes that only monsters in the Main Monster Zones were destroyed, but "Thunder Ogre" was in the Extra Monster Zone. He activates the effect of "Thunder Ogre", since an effect destroyed a monster that it pointed to, increasing its ATK by 400, to 4900. Then he activates the effects of the "Suprex", "Twistcobra" and "Riscorpio" that were all sent to his Graveyard, adding three different "Gouki" cards from his Deck to his hand. He comments that this fight is only just getting started, and Ai comments that Gore is trying really hard (in the dub, he taunts him over the math of the cards he adds, and Ai admits that it checks out).
Varis activates a Continuous Spell Card, "Link Protection", which will prevent "Topologic Bomber Dragon" from being destroyed by battle this turn and they will both take no battle damage. He orders "Topologic Bomber Dragon" to attack "Gouki Thunder Ogre", and "Bomber Dragon" blasts a magenta beam from its eye, while "Thunder Ogre" retaliates with a lightning blast from its hands. The blasts clash, and Ai protests that it's pointless to attack if Varis can't destroy "Thunder Ogre". But Varis reveals that when the battle ends, Gore's monster will be destroyed, and "Thunder Ogre" explodes in a flash of flame. Gore grits his teeth as he shields himself from the explosion, and Ai muses that he sees (in the dub, Ai admits that he's the idiot). Then Varis activates the effect of "Topologic Bomber Dragon", inflicting damage to Gore equal to the ATK of "Thunder Ogre". "Topologic Bomber Dragon" crackles with magenta energy as Varis declares "Aiming Blast", and it unleashes the shockwave. But Gore activates the effect of "Gouki Octostretch" from his hand, discarding it to halve the damage (in the dub, he adds that he's not tapping out just yet). "Octostretch" appears in front of Gore to shield him, and the halved damage sends him skidding backwards, reducing him to 2900 LP. Ai cheers Gore's move, telling him to keep it up, and Playmaker tells him to watch quietly. Ai grumpily agrees, and Playmaker turns back to the Duel as Varis admits that wasn't bad (in the dub, Ai and Playmaker's exchange is cut). but how long will it last? (in the dub, he compliments Gore's nice play, but comments that it doesn't make Gore a playmaker, not wonder he could never beat him). He Sets a card and ends his turn.
Gore closes his eyes, remembering being with the children at his orphanage. He mentally tells them to wait, and he declares his turn and draws (in the dub, he thinks that it doesn't matter if Varis talks down on him, since the only faces that matter are those of the kids). He immediately activates another "Gouki Re-Match", Special Summoning two "Goukis" from his Graveyard in Defense Position. He revives "Twistcobra" and "Suprex", and thinks that he promises to restore LINK VRAINS. He chants "Appear! My circuit!" and explains that the Summoning conditions are two "Gouki" monsters, so he sets "Suprex" and "Twistcobra" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon the Link-2 "Gouki Heel Ogre". As the new monster appears, Varis frowns - Gore has summoned it to the zone that "Topologic Bomber Dragon" points to, which will destroy all their monsters in the Main Monster Zones. Gore grins that it's also guaranteed to activate, and "Topologic Bomber Dragon" ignites its energy wings. Varis asks what Gore is planning, and Gore replies that he's about to find out. He activates the effect of "Gouki Heel Orge", since "Topologic Bomber" is in the zone that "Heel Ogre" is pointing to, its effect is negated and it is destroyed. Varis asks "What?!" in shock as "Heel Ogre" leaps into the air (in the dub he calls it impossible), twirling its double-ended club and then jamming the end into the ground. Flames explode around the point of contact, and then "Heel Ogre" slams the club down, sending a blast of flames towards "Topologic Bomber Dragon" that consume it. Ai cheers that Gore destroyed "Topologic", and even Playmaker cracks a small smile. In the orphanage, the watching children cheer that The Gore did it, and Gore grins as he retorts that he also used the effect of Varis's monster to his advantage (in the dub, he also throws back Varis's line of the best kind of sabotage). Varis grins in amusement, and Gore adds that he can also Special Summon a "Gouki" Link Monster from his Graveyard. "Heel Ogre" glows orange as Gore resurrects "Thunder Ogre", then he activates the effects of "Gouki Suprex" and "Twistcobra" since they were sent to the Graveyard, adding two "Gouki" cards with different names from his Deck to his hand. Playmaker notes that The Gore no has two Link Monsters out and is still allowed to Normal Summon this turn, and Ai adds that he has six cards in his hand, probably full of "Gouki" monsters (in the dub, Playmaker notes that Gore's Deck was always solid, but he's added new cards to enhance its power, shocking Ai, who asks if he really just complimented Gore). Playmaker wonders why Varis is so confident, and gets his answer when Varis activates the additional effect of the Continuous Spell Card "Link Protection" (in the dub, he also warns Gore that a single card can change the entire Duel), by banishing it and the destroyed "Topologic Bomber Dragon", it will prevent Gore from attacking this turn unless he controls a number of Link Monsters equal to the Link Rating of the banished Link Monster. Ai notes that "Topologic Bomber Dragon" was Link-4, so Gore can't attack unless he has four Link Monsters, while Playmaker continues to watch quietly.
Gore calls Varis's move clever, but notes that he just needs to get two more. He Summons "Gouki Suprex" from his hand, then he activates its effect, Special Summoning "Gouki Riscorpio" from his hand. Next he activates the effect of "Gouki Headbatt" from his hand, sending another "Gouki" monster ("Gouki Moonsault") from his hand to the Graveyard to Special Summon it in Defense Position. Then the other effect of "Headbatt" activates, increasing the ATK of "Thunder Ogre" by 800 until the end of the turn, to 3000. He chants "Appear! My circuit!" declares that the Summomning conditions are at least two "Gouki" monsters. He sets "Suprex", "Riscorpio", and "Headbatt" in the Link Arrows, Link Summoning the Link-3 "Gouki The Great Ogre". Thinking that he just needs one more, Gore activates the effects of "Riscorpio" and "Headbatt" since they were sent to the Graveyard, adding two "Gouki" cards - "Gouki Ringtrainer" and "Gouki Face Turn". Then he activates the Continuous Spell Card "Gouki Roar"; when his "Gouki" monster attacks, it gains 300 ATK for every "Gouki" monster on his field. Playmaker frowns, and then Gore activates the Spell Card "Gouki Face Turn", destroying "Gouki Roar" to Special Summon a "Gouki" monster from his Graveyard. He orders "Gouki Jet Ogre" to resurrect, and Ai cheers that now Gore has four Link Monsters. He looks up at Playmaker, asking him why he's being so depressing; Gore will attack Varis repeatedly and win. Playmaker replies "No...", and then he remembers Varis Setting a card (in the dub, he first comments "Perhaps..." and then realizes, perhaps not, dwelling on Varis's face-down card specifically).
Gore states that he promised to protect LINK VRAINS so that the children would smile, and that is why he, The Gore, will defeat Varis. Varis smiles, admitting that he doesn't hate passionate people like Gore, but that he's cold-hearted in a Duel (in the dub, Varis asks if that's so, and he tells Gore not to disappoint them and to finish him off). Gore declares his Battle Phase, attacking Varis directly with "Great Ogre". "Great Ogre" twirls its lance before charging forwards towards Varis. Varis dramatically tells Gore to sink into the abyss of bottomless despair as he activates a Trap Card (in the dub, he tells him to remember when he said that one card could change an entire Duel), which erupts with a blinding blue light that causes Frog and Pigeon to panic as Frog asks what it is. In the real world, Kolter's screen is entirely blotted out, Shima covers his eyes with his arm as the light erupts from his tablet, and the children watching at the orphanage do the same. Playmaker covers his own eyes as he recognizes the light.
Varis has activated the Trap Card, "Mirror Force", which destroys all of Gore's Attack Position monsters. Gore's monsters all explode in flashes of smoke as he cries "What?!", and as the light fades, Gore realizes that the terrifying card that Playmaker mentioned was "Mirror Force" (in the dub, he names Ghost Gal as the one who warned them, and he gasps that Varis got him). Varis laughs as Gore looks back in shock, and as Playmaker and Ai watch, he smirks.
Featured Duel: The Gore vs. VarisEdit
The Duel is conducted as a Master Duel.
Turn 1: Gore
Gore Normal Summons "Gouki Suprex" (1800/0). As "Suprex" was Normal Summoned, Gore activates its effect to Special Summon a "Gouki" monster from his hand. He Special Summons "Gouki Twistcobra" (1600/0). Gore uses "Suprex" and "Twistcobra" to Link Summon "Gouki Jet Ogre" (2000/←↓) to the Extra Monster Zone. As "Suprex" and "Twistcobra" were sent from the field to the GY, Gore activates both of their effects to add a "Gouki" card from his Deck to his hand. He adds two unknown cards. Gore activates the Spell Card "Gouki Re-Match" to Special Summon two "Gouki" monsters with different Levels from his GY in Defense Position. He Special Summons "Suprex" (1800/0) and "Twistcobra" (1600/0). Gore uses "Suprex" and the Link-2 "Jet Ogre" to Link Summon "Gouki Thunder Ogre" (2200/↙↑↘) to the Extra Monster Zone. The effect of "Thunder Ogre" allows the turn player to Normal Summon an additional time during their Main Phase to a zone "Thunder Ogre" points to. Gore Normal Summons "Suprex" to the zone the bottom-left Link Arrow of "Thunder Ogre" points to. Turn 2: Varis
As Gore controls a Link Monster, Varis Special Summons "Gateway Dragon" (1600/1400) from his hand by its effect. Varis activates the effect of "Gateway Dragon" to Special Summon a Level 4 or lower DARK Dragon monster from his hand. He Special Summons "Sniffer Dragon" (800/400). As "Sniffer Dragon" was Normal or Special Summoned, he activates its effect to add another copy of "Sniffer Dragon" from his Deck to his hand. Varis Normal Summons another "Sniffer Dragon" (800/400). Varis uses "Gateway Dragon" and the two copies of "Sniffer Dragon" to Link Summon "Triple Burst Dragon" (2400/↑←↓) to the Extra Monster Zone. As there are two monsters in the Extra Monster Zones with the same Link Rating, Varis activates the Spell Card "Arrow Charge" to draw two cards and reveal them, but Varis must banish any of those drawn cards during the End Phase if they are still in his hand. He draws "Triggering Wurm" and "Link Protection". Varis uses the effect of "Thunder Ogre" to Normal Summon "Triggering Wurm" (600/???) to the zone the top-center Link Arrow of "Thunder Ogre" points to. Varis uses "Triggering Wurm" and the Link-3 "Triple Burst Dragon" to Link Summon "Topologic Bomber Dragon" (3000/↑↙↓↘) to the Extra Monster Zone. As "Triggering Wurm" was used as a Link Material for the Link Summon of a Link Monster, Varis activates its effect to Special Summon it to a zone that Link Monster points to. He Special Summons it to a zone "Topologic Bomber Dragon" points to. As a monster was Special Summoned to a zone a Link Monster points to, the effect of "Topologic Bomber Dragon" activates, destroying all monsters in the Main Monster Zones, but Gore activates the effect of "Twistcobra", Tributing a "Gouki" monster to increase the ATK of another "Gouki" monster he controls by the Tributed monster's ATK until the end of the turn. As "Trigger Wurm" was destroyed by a Link Monster's effect, Varis activates its effect to draw a card. As monsters "Thunder Ogre" points to were destroyed, Gore activates its effect, increasing its ATK by 400 ("Thunder Ogre": 4500 → 4900 ATK). As "Suprex", "Twistcobra" and "Riscorpio" were sent from the field to the GY, Gore activates all their effects, adding three unknown "Gouki" cards from his Deck to his hand. Varis activates the Continuous Spell Card "Link Protection". Once per turn, when "Topologic Bomber Dragon" battles, Varis can prevent it from destroyed by that battle and prevent the battle damage to both players. At the end of the Damage Step in which Varis activated this effect, the monster "Topologic Bomber Dragon" battled with is destroyed.
"Topologic Bomber Dragon" attacks "Thunder Ogre", with Varis using the effect of "Link Protection" to prevent "Topologic Bomber Dragon" from being destroyed, and take no battle damage from that battle. After damage calculation, the effect of "Link Protection" destroys "Thunder Ogre". As "Topologic Bomber Dragon" attacked Gore's monster, its effect activates, inflicting damage to Gore equal to that monster's original ATK, but as Varis activated a card or effect that would inflict damage to him, Gore activates the effect of "Gouki Octostretch" in his hand, discarding it to halve the damage (Gore: 4000 → 2900 LP). Turn 3: Gore
Gore activates the Spell Card "Re-Match", Special Summoning "Suprex" (1800/0) and "Twistcobra" (1600/0) in Defense Position. Gore uses "Suprex" and "Twistcobra" to Link Summon "Gouki Heel Ogre" (1000/↑↓) to the zone the top-center Link Arrow of "Topologic Bomber Dragon" points to. As a monster was Special Summoned to a zone a Link Monster points to, the effect of "Topologic Bomber Dragon" activates, destroying all monsters in the Main Monster Zones, but as a monster "Heel Ogre" points to activated its effect, Gore activates its effect to negate the activation of that monster's effect, destroying it, then Special Summoning a "Gouki" Link Monster from his GY. The effect of "Topologic Bomber Dragon" is negated, it is destroyed, and Gore Special Summons "Thunder Ogre" (2200/↙↑↘). As "Suprex" and "Twistcobra" were sent from the field to the GY, Gore activates both of their effects, adding two unknown "Gouki" cards from his Deck to his hand. As "Topologic Bomber Dragon" was destroyed, Varis activates the effect of "Link Protection", banishing both it and "Topologic Bomber Dragon" from his GY to prevent Gore from attacking this turn unless he has at least the same number of Link Monsters as the Link Rating of "Topologic Bomber Dragon", in this case four. Gore Normal Summons "Suprex" (1800/0). As "Suprex" was Normal Summoned, Gore activates its effect, Special Summoning "Riscorpio" (2300/0) from his hand. Gore activates the effect of "Gouki Headbatt" which lets him send a "Gouki" monster from his hand to the GY, Special Summon "Headbatt", and increase the ATK of a "Gouki" monster he controls by 800 until the end of the turn. He sends "Gouki Moonsault", targets "Thunder Ogre" and Special Summons "Headbatt" (800/0) ("Thunder Ogre": 2200 → 3000 ATK). Gore uses "Suprex", "Riscorpio" and "Headbatt" to Link Summon "Gouki The Great Ogre" (2600/↙↓↘) to the Extra Monster Zone. As "Riscorpio" and "Headbatt" were sent from the field to the GY, Gore activates both of their effects, adding "Gouki Ringtrainer" and "Gouki Face Turn". Gore activates the Continuous Spell Card "Gouki Roar". Whenever a "Gouki" monster attacks, it will gain 300 ATK for every "Gouki" monster Gore controls during the Damage Step. Gore activates the Spell Card "Gouki Face Turn" destroying a "Gouki" card he controls to Special Summon a "Gouki" monster from his GY. He destroys "Roar" to Special Summon "Jet Ogre" (2000/←↓) from his GY.
"Great Ogre" attacks Varis directly. As Gore's monster declared an attack, Varis activates his face-down Trap Card "Mirror Force" destroying all Attack Position monsters Gore controls. "Great Ogre", "Thunder Ogre", "Heel Ogre" and "Jet Ogre" are destroyed.

During a panning shot before Turn 3 starts, Gore is shown with Gouki Suprex on his field even though it was destroyed by the effect of Topologic Bomber Dragon during Varis' turn. This was corrected in the dub.
