Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's[edit]

  • In the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime, this card is known as "Crimson Mefist".
  • In episode 94:
    • this card appears when Tetsu Trudge and Mina Simington are investigating the disappearance of Robert Pearson: while questioning Crow Hogan, they reveal that he last dueled an opponent who was using "Crimson Mefist" before his demise, and Tetsu and Mina are looking for the card's user. When Crow states that he had not heard of it, Mina explains that several cards like it were developed that inflicted real damage to an opponent with their effects (and could also send their opponents to the Netherworld in the dub).
    • While assisting the investigation, Crow shows an image of the card to Bolton, who reacts with shock at the sight of it - when Crow demands to know more, Bolton refuses to comply and challenges Crow to a duel, with the stakes being Bolton's knowledge of "Crimson Mefist" and "Black-Winged Dragon", which Crow does not know the location of. During the duel, which continues into the next episode, Bolton tunes "White Warrior - Hail the Iron Hammer" with "White Warrior - Snow the Rope Dart" to Synchro Summon this card, causing Crow to flashback as Bolton revealed that he was responsible for what happened to Pearson.
      • Bolton and Robert Pearson were former partners in Duel Runner research, which had come to a halt due to lack of funding. Pearson refused to sell his designs to potential funders from New Domino City in the hopes of teaching the children of Satellite that they could do anything without the City's help; Bolton was infuriated and took matters into his own hands, stealing the Duel Runner research with the intent to sell it and challenging Pearson to a duel. During that Duel, Bolton Summoned "Crimson Mefist" and defeated his former partner; depending on the version, this either sent Pearson to the Netherworld or knocked over a lamp and started the fire that claimed Pearson's life.
    • Once Bolton Synchro Summons this card, he activates its first effect to inflict 300 damage to Crow for each card he controls (totaling 600 damage); in the Battle Phase, this card attacks and destroys "Blackwing Armed Wing". During Crow's turn, he Sets a card, taking 300 damage from this card's second effect; when Bolton prepares to activate the first effect of "Crimson Mefist" next turn, Crow activates a face-down card, "Down Burst", to Set both "Whiteout" and "Sacred Arrow". Bolton activates this card's first effect again, but Crow activates the face-down "Delta Crow - Anti Reverse" to destroy all of Bolton's Set Spells and Traps before the effect resolved, inflicting 300 damage to Crow. Bolton then Normal Summons "White Warrior - Sleet the Morning Star" and activates its effect, Tributing it in order to give "Crimson Mefist" the ability to inflict damage equal to half of its ATK when it destroys a monster by battle. When this card attacks "Blackwing - Kochi the Daybreak", however, Crow activates the effect of "Blackwing - Jetstream the Blue Sky", sending it from his hand to the Graveyard to prevent "Kochi the Daybreak" from being destroyed by the attack and reducing the Battle Damage to 0.
    • Later in the duel, Crow discovers "Black-Winged Dragon" in a hidden compartment of his Duel Runner, which formerly belonged to Robert Pearson, and successfully Synchro Summons it; Bolton activates "Synchro Rivalry" in response, which prevents "Crimson Mefist" and other monsters from being destroyed by battle this turn. After Crow sets "Blackwing Anchor" (changed to "Delta Crow - Anti Reverse" in the dub), the second effect of "Crimson Mefist" activates; the first effect of "Black-Winged Dragon" activates in response, nullifying the damage and reducing its ATK by the damage Crow would have taken (2800 -> 2500). Crow then activates the effect of "Zephyros the Elite" to Special Summon it by returning "Blackwing - Bombardment" to his hand, taking 400 damage; the first effect of "Black-Winged Dragon" activates again, nullifying the damage and reducing the ATK of "Black-Winged Dragon" by 400 (2500 -> 2100). Crow Sets "Blackwing - Bombardment", which destroys "Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite" due to the latter's second effect, then activates the effect of "Zephyros" to Special Summon it again; he repeats the process until the ATK of "Black-Winged Dragon" becomes 0. Crow then activates the second effect of "Black-Winged Dragon", increasing its ATK by an amount equal to the damage its first effect nullified while decreasing the ATK of "Crimson Mefist" by that amount. "Black-Winged Dragon" then attacks this card, which is not not destroyed due to the effect of "Synchro Rivalry", but Bolton still takes Battle Damage, reducing his Life Points to 0. After Crow's victory, Bolton apologizes for what he did to Pearson and vows to make things right.
  • In episode 134, this card appears in the Three Emperors of Yliaster's visions of the future as a hologram projection. The English dub also includes this card in the explanation for "Shadow Impulse" that was added; this is done in error, as it is not the same Type as "Black-Winged Dragon" (though they share the same Attribute).
  • Crow showed this card's image to Yusei prior to explaining his past with Pearson and Bolton.
  • This monster's attack is called Rancid Rush in the dub; when it attacks, it blows an acidic liquid at its target that dissolves them slightly before it is destroyed. When its effect activates, it throws a plasma ball at the opponent.
