Forum:Friend Deck Help

Hey guys, need some help. You see, a friend of mine has recently gotten into Yugioh, just as I have. However, she hardly has any cards, and ATM is using Dueling Network as a substitute. She's new to the game, so we were wondering if you guys could give some Deck and strategy suggestions. Don't worry, she'll hopefully comment on the suggestions as well. Her username's Sonicrox14. Big thanks if you guys are willing to help out!--Kagimizu-Seeya 'round 01:07, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

With the recent release of the Hyperion deck, the the soon realses of the Kristia tin, for 3 Starter decks, & 2 tins, can make a fairly strong fairy deck

Well, more specific suggestions perhaps?--Kagimizu-Seeya 'round 01:16, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

Okay, here's her deck. Thoughts n' opinions?--Kagimizu-Seeya 'round 06:39, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

She's running too many 1 cards and that makes it hard to pull off combos. Maybe if you give us a price range of what you/she wants to spend on a deck we might be able to help better.

For now she's using only Dueling Network, so price range is unlimited. However, there's another stipulation: it needs to be a deck for someone who's still learning the basics, and only had her first duel last night ^^|--Kagimizu-Seeya 'round 18:17, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

well in that case try Lightsworn there easy to use and verry effective

Alright, that's a good idea. Other suggestions?--Kagimizu-Seeya 'round 18:31, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

I suggest she focus on the Chaos group of monsters (alongside Lightsworns). I think a good Twilight Deck would be simple enough to introduce her to the basic mechanics of the game, and be perfect for Duelist(?) Network. Designless Square (talkcontribs) 20:01, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

There are a number of simple decks that are good for beginners. Most are recent Structure decks, but Machina Gadgets, Gravekeeper's, The Agents, etc. Basically, decks that are very combo heavy are hard to pick up, so a simpler deck that takes it one step at a time would be good. Gravekeepers are probably fine TBH, the combos are 2 cards at most,-Resk () 20:09, August 26, 2011 (UTC)

Alright, currently Shelly's running something of an "Amazoness" deck, but she still needs help. I convinced her to put up a decklist of what she's got so far, so people can go over it and help her out.--Kagimizu-Seeya 'round 21:50, August 27, 2011 (UTC)

Okay, here's what basic advice I can give. Dragunity Brandistock, Time Wizard, Reaper of the Cards, and Polymerization are all useless in this deck. You have no way to equip Brandistock to any of your monsters, making it just a weak monster taking up a slot. Time Wizard is the same if not moreso, because its effect can either clear a field or clear your own AND reduce your lifepoints. The risks aren't worth it. Now Polymerization is quite literally the most useless of these cards. You have zero Fusion Monsters! Without Fusion Monsters, Polymerization is just a wasted card that could be replaced with something much more useful. Reaper of the Cards has no synergy with the rest of the deck. Plus nowadays, a lot of decks have ways to Special Summon and swarm monsters; Reaper of the Cards can't do that. That means you have to sacrifice a monster to summon it and for what? The chance to destroy only ONE trap.--Kagimizu-Seeya 'round 22:33, August 27, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for the advice, this should help me dueling. Also, I added three more trap cards to the bottom of the list, tell me what you think of them. --{{SUBST:Signatures/Sonicrox14}} 22:57, August 27, 2011 (UTC)

Armor Break: largely useless. Barely anyone uses Equip Cards. Dark Bribe would be useful, particularly if you use it in conjunction with Card Destruction, which would result in sending more of your opponent's cards to the Graveyard. Your own would be sent as well though, but Amazoness focus on swarming and card control, so not such a big cost. I suggest re-reading the Amazoness archetype, use some suggestions, and then think about the type of deck you want, and what strategy you want. Depth Amulet is alright I suppose. But Shelly, you need to remove some cards as well.--Kagimizu-Seeya 'round 23:03, August 27, 2011 (UTC)

There seems to be far too many single cards :3, Might I suggest something like this?

Just in case that's helpfull to you :3

Wouldn't an Amazoness deck require more monsters? Plus there aren't any tuners in there from what I can see, so no Synchros can be used.--Kagimizu-Seeya 'round 23:09, August 27, 2011 (UTC)

They don't need them, they have Solidarity, Amazoness Village, RotA, & lots of control,
-Resk () 00:26, August 28, 2011 (UTC)

The Synchros are only included in case you use "Monster Reborn" on your opponent's dead Tuner. If you really want this Deck to Synchro and you won't be satisfied if it can't, splash in 1 "Glow-Up Bulb" and 1 "T.G. Striker" for some Naturia stuff. That is all. Designless Square (talkcontribs) 17:21, August 28, 2011 (UTC)

Okay, but with Solidarity should Amazoness Tiger be removed? That's a Beast-type, which would break up Solidarity's effect. And what's RotA?--Kagimizu-Seeya 'round 20:56, August 28, 2011 (UTC)

I prefer pure warrior build, but if she wants to use tiger, can use Amazoness WillpowerAmazoness Fighting Spirit instead, Also, RoTA, is Reinforcement of the Army
-Resk ()() 22:53, August 28, 2011 (UTC)

Call of the Haunted would be better than Amazoness Willpower, as it has none of the drawbacks. Unless you meant something else? Lappyzard (talkcontribs) 23:02, August 28, 2011 (UTC)
