Christopher Thorndyke[edit]

Chris is as close to Yugi as a twin brother would be.

Chris met Yugi Muto and his friends, Joey Wheeler, Tristan Taylor, and Téa Gardner. Joey and Tristan used to bully Yugi but Chris saved him. Yugi, Chris and Joey once visited Burgerpalooza, only to find Téa working there. Téa feared that if they told, she would get expelled as it's against school rules to have part-time jobs. She also worried about getting fired, as they could have revealed that she was under 18, the required age to work there. She splattered their burgers in ketchup, warning them not to tell. They told her that they did not even know she worked there, and they wouldn't say a word. Chris wanted instead was protect Téa.

Yugi and Chris later found Téa in a warehouse, with a mugger who threatened to reveal she was working at Burgerpalooza and tricked her by writing a note, pretending Yugi and Joey had given her a dance studio. Yugi tackled the man, but got thrown against a wall. Téa was also knocked unconscious after trying to attack him. When Chris tackled the man without get thrown against a wall, Yugi then transformed into Yami Yugi, who defeated the man in a card draw game and Mind Crushed him. Yugi came to believe that he had saved Téa himself, although he didn't remember how he did it.

Duelist Kingdom[edit]

Chris watches Yugi defeated Joey in Duel Monsters at school and decided to invite Joey, Téa and Tristan to see his Grandpa's rare card, the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", after school. Seto Kaiba, who overheard, kidnapping Grandpa and forced him into a Duel for his "Blue-Eyes", as he refused to trade or sell it. Yugi and his friends caught up after Solomon had already been defeated, and witnessed Kaiba tear-up the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" in front of them. Outraged, Yugi challenged Kaiba to a Duel, and Solomon gave Yugi his Deck. Chris is cheering Yugi while dueling Kaiba as Yami Yugi and discovered Kaiba had the other three "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" in his Deck but defeated him using "Exodia", taking Kaiba's title as the Duel Monsters World Champion.

Using a fireproof suit, Chris saves Yugi (with his Millennium Puzzle shielded him) from PaniK's fire by activating the Duel Arena's self-destruct. Chris had a dream about Téa fails to convince Yami Yugi to call off the attack. Chris saves Kaiba from falling to his death and successfully convinces Yami Yugi to call off the attack. Chris tricks Kemo and helps the gang to enter the castle. The newly shorts Tea is seen wearing under her skirt were modified into looking like white sweat pants.

Battle City[edit]

When Yugi asked Téa if she could go out with Yami, Chris borrowed Bulma's Micro Band, so he can shrink and travel with her in her shorts pocket when they went on a date. The Supervolt batteries in the switch go dead. Chris tricks Roland and helps the gang again to enter the blimp.

During this time, Marik's heart finds its way to Téa, in his own Awakening, and his heart passes on into Téa's body. This allows Marik to control her.

Virtual World[edit]

Yugi takes Yami to the Soul room, leaving Chris behind while dueling Noah. He starts thinking of the time he first met Yugi, and how he was always there for Chris, but thinks he should start doing things on his own. Chris activates the "Monster Reborn" to revive "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" and fuses two in his hands into "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" that kills "Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi" and then sacrifices "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" to summon "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon". Danny accidentally shatters Robot monkey Tristan, who was turned into stone by dropping him from his shoulders, releasing his heart. Doing the same on everyone, Chris commands his "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" to use its "Shining Nova" effect, which allows it to sacrifice itself to destroy anything on the field - and he sacrifices Yugi's friends, releasing their hearts. Chuck recreates everyone with his newest program, completed with a shields and Chris allows the hearts to return to his friends' bodies. Awakened as her heart is restored, a now-revived Téa runs towards Chris, but as soon as her fingers touch his chest, his soul gets sucked into the Millennium Puzzle. Yugi activates the "Monster Reborn" to revive "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon".

Noah tries to help the gang to escape from the Virtual World after Gozaburo reveals his plans. However, Noah tricked all of them so he could escape using Mokuba's body, only to be followed by Chris,. When Noah organized a missile attack to destroy the fortress, including the servers for the virtual world, Chris contacted the group and explained that they must get out quickly before the virtual world is destroyed. Franz told them to go the arcade. Yugi, Duke and Joey fought off more of Gozaburo's monsters, while Téa, Serenity, Frances, Danny and Tristan went there. Noah's plan is slowly thwarted. Chris taunted Noah and caused him to have a change of heart.

Battle City Finals[edit]

Chris is now suspicious of Marik because he wanted to claim Yugi's Millennium Puzzle. He also hear Téa acting weird. When Chris defends Téa, True Marik convinced him that he controlling Téa and it was Yami Marik.

Tuffle race[edit]

Heart[edit]

A Heart is a source of the spirits. Because the same as Kingdom Hearts, if one's body remains intact when the heart is lost, the person will enter a state similar to catatonia until the heart is restored. Hearts are also able to merge with others or be split, as seen when Yami Yugi's heart merges with Yugi's. A much later instance of this would be Marik's heart merging with Téa's, since Yami Marik took over his body, and he controls her.

In the Virtual World arc, the hearts are a keys to the soul room and bodies are a locks: If the statue is destroyed and not repaired, the victim will die due to severing of body parts, his/her heart was released. Tristan's heart was released after Danny broke him while he was turned into a statue. Doing the same on everyone, Chris sacrifices Yugi's friends with "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" to release their hearts. Chuck recreates everyone with his People Recreation Program and Chris allows the hearts to return inside of his friends' bodies, regaining their conscious.

All seven hearts together have same colors as the Rainbow Crystals from Sailor Moon.

  • Red Heart: Duke Devlin
  • Orange Heart: Tristan Taylor
  • Yellow Heart: Serenity Wheeler
  • Green Heart: Joey Wheeler
  • Blue Heart: Téa Gardner
  • Indigo Heart: Danny
  • Purple Heart: Frances

Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon[edit]

  • The attack of this card is called "Shining Neutron Blast" in the English version while in the Japanese version it is "Shining Burst" 「シャイニング・バースト」. The effect of this card is called "Shining Nova" in both version. Its negating effect is called "Shining Diffusion" in the English version, while in the Japanese version it is "Shining Flare" 「シャイニング・フレア」 . It was created by Maximillion Pegasus as a counter to the God cards. In the Japanese version only, it ultimately destroyed itself to defeat Anubis as explicitly stated by Pegasus himself. It was made by Solomon Mutou.
  • After Chris obtained this card from Yugi's grandfather, he added it in his Deck. He first summoned this after tributing his Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. It then gained 300 ATK for each dragon in his graveyard. (Hyozanryu was destroyed by Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi since it only gained 1500 ATK from the 5 other dragons in the graveyard). It was then used to destroy Noah's "Krokodilus". This card later gained 300 more ATK when Seiyaryu was sent to the graveyard because of Zera the Mant. Next turn Chris used this card to destroy "Zera the Mant". Its effect destroys the "Meteor of Destruction". After a few turns, Chris feels a positive energy from Team Lyoko. He sacrifices Yugi's friends with Shining Nova which destroyed this card itself in the process, releasing their hearts. Yami brought it back with "Monster Reborn" (regaining its 4800 ATK from the 5 other dragons in Chris' graveyard) and used its Shining Neutron Blast to destroy the Millennium Shield. He later used Shining Nova effect again to wipe out Noah's Life Points.
  • After Kaiba obtained this card from Pegasus, he used it in his duel against Yami. He first summoned this after tributing his Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. It then gained 300 ATK for each dragon in his graveyard. (Paladin of White Dragon was oddly not counted as a dragon type for some reason since it only gained 1500 ATK from the 5 other dragons in the graveyard). Its effect prevented Sorceror of Dark Magic's effect from decreasing its ATK. It was then used to destroy Yugi's "Sorceror of Dark Magic". Next turn Kaiba used this card to destroy "Big Shield Gardna". This card later gained 300 more ATK when Spear Dragon was sent to the graveyard because of Card of Demise. After a few turns, Anubis tried to tell Kaiba to finish Yugi now as he had almost nothing left to defeat him, however Kaiba wanted a perfect victory by using Yugi's Egyptian Gods against him. He attempted to destroy the Pyramid of Light with Shining Nova which destroyed this card itself in the process. Unfortunately Anubis protected the card and the effect was useless. Later Yami brought it back with "Monster Reborn" and used its Shining Nova effect again. This time it worked since Yugi was able to expose its weak point.

Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Pyramid of Light[edit]

Like Dr. Wheelo, Anubis says two minor curse words. When Chris joins forces with Yugi, Anubis says "What the hell is that kid helping the Pharaoh?" and right when Yugi and Chris strikes the death blow with combination of "Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon" and the Egyptian God Cards, Anubis says "Damn you Pharaoh!"

Serenity Wheeler[edit]

Serenity joined Team Lyoko for "making" her wish on the Black Star Dragon Balls: the eternal youth for Team Lyoko, for all memories of a mob of duelists wanting to face Yugi for the Egyptian Gods to be erased, and Bonz, Sid, and Zygor to be released from the Shadow Realm (the power of the Black Star Dragon Balls can only temporarily reverse the effects of the Millennium Items).

Serenity has a new outfits: she is wearing a sleeveless yellow sweater and a blue shorts and a white belt and dark purple shoes. She also wears a yellow sweater with white collar and a pink skirt and blue shoes.

Kaiba Craft 3[edit]

The Kaiba Craft 3 was salvaged by Dr. Eggman and reconstructed into the Eggman Craft 3. Eggman abandoned it for the Egg Carrier.

Fixed Errors and Mistakes[edit]

Without errors and mistakes, the cards are corrected.

FUNimation version of Yu-Gi-Oh![edit]

  • Americanization of character names (e.g. Katsuya Jounouchi, Hiroto Honda, and Anzu Mazaki became Joey Wheeler, Tristan Taylor, and Téa Gardner, and Miho Nosaka became Melody in the Dungeon Dice Monsters video game respectively)
  • Replacing each of the Japanese opening themes (Rock/Pop songs by various groups) with the original opening themes for the Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT (in this case, Rock the Dragon and Step into the Grand Tour). The Japanese ending themes are also replaced with a single (occasionally altered) instrumental song done on a synthesizer.
  • When Chris sacrifices Yugi's friends with Shining Nova, a theme of Sora's Sacrifice is played (English and Japanese both versions).
  • Do not remove all reference to blood
  • Reworking the plot in certain parts of numerous episodes and story arcs, mostly for censorship reasons, but also for unknown reasons.
  • Do not remove all instances of weapons (like guns and knives, which are often prevalent).
  • Do not remove scenes where two or more characters are fighting.
  • Keep scenes where characters die or are in real danger of death and characters are later threatened with the possibility of going to the Shadow Realm, or in some cases they are "captured".
  • Do not remove or edit scenes where monsters undergo some form of violent death (such as being eaten or being stabbed)
  • Do not remove scenes where characters make obscene gestures
  • Do not remove assorted sexual innuendo.
  • Do not remove much writing in Japanese and English (this resulted in the unusual design of the Duel Monsters cards in the English version of the series).
  • Do not remove any kind of references that could be accused of causing children to develop bad habits (truancy for example).
  • To get around FCC rules concerning advertising in shows, as well as to make the show more marketable in non-English countries, all the cards in the show have been painted over to feature only the card illustration, card element and the attack/defence of the card if it is a monster card.
  • Domino City is set in America and is next to Station Square.
  • A new filler arc, The Dream Land.
