Yu-Gi-Oh! GX[edit]

  • In episode 2, this card appears in a flashback Chazz Princeton has when he notes to his friends that Jaden is the one who defeated Crowler in the Entrance Exam.
  • In episode 18, Dimitri uses this card during his duel against Syrus Truesdale. He Tribute Summons this card by Tributing two "Wicked Tokens". Dimitri then uses this card to attack Syrus's Jetroid, but Syrus uses the effect of "Jetroid" to activate "Magic Cylinder" from his hand, allowing Syrus to negate the attack and inflict damage to Dimitri equal to this card's ATK, which wins Syrus the duel.
    • This card appears in a flashback Jaden has when he remembers Crowler summoning this card back in the Entrance Exams.
  • In episode 31, Crowler uses this card during his duel against Camula. He Tribute Summons this card by Tributing "Ancient Gear Castle". This card then attacks "Vampire Bat", but Camula discards another "Vampire Bat" from her Deck to prevent the first copy's destruction, however Camula still takes Battle Damage. Later "Vampire Genesis" (whose ATK was 3200 due to the effect of "Vampire Bat") attacks and destroys this card.
  • In episode 50, Crowler uses this card during his duel against Chumley Huffington. He Tribute Summons this card by Tributing two "Ancient Gears". This card then attacks and destroys Chumley's set "Des Koala". This card then inflicts piercing damage to Chumley. The Flip Effect of "Des Koala" then activates, allowing Chumley to inflict 400 damage to Crowler for each card in his hand. Since Crowler has two cards in his hand, he takes 800 damage. On Crowler's next turn, this card attacks and destroys "Eucalyptus Mole". This card then inflicts piercing Damage to Chumley. The effect of "Eucalyptus Mole" then activates, allowing Chumley to Special Summon "Big Koala" from his Deck. Later Chumley activates "Wild Nature's Release" to increase the ATK of "Big Koala" by its DEF. "Big Koala" then attacks and destroys this card. On Crowler's turn, he activates "Ancient Gear Factory" to banish this card, "Ancient Gear Soldier" and the two "Ancient Gears" from his Graveyard in order to allow himself to Normal Summon a second copy of this card with no Tributes. This card then attacks and destroys "Big Koala". Chumley then activates "Animal Trail" to add "Des Kangaroo" from his Deck to his hand. Later Chumley activates "Ayers Rock Sunrise" to Special Summon "Big Koala" from his Graveyard and decrease the ATK of this card by 200 for each Beast-type monster in his Graveyard. Since Chumley has two, this card loses 400 ATK. Chumley then activates "Polymerization" to fuse "Big Koala" with Des Kangaroo" in order to Fusion Summon "Master of Oz". "Master of Oz" then attacks this card, but Crowler activates "Limiter Removal" to double this card's ATK until the End Phase. This card then destroys "Master of Oz", winning Crowler the duel.
  • In episode 62, this card appears in one of the many flashback bubbles Jaden sees in as he travels into Neo Space.
  • In episode 66, this card appears in a flashback Jaden has when he sees Wheeler as Dr. Crowler and Wheeler's furniture as this card which makes Jaden remember his Duel against Crowler.
  • In episode 69, Crowler uses this card during his duel against Jean-Louis Bonaparte. He Tribute Summons this card by Tributing "The Trojan Horse" (who counts as two Tributes for the summon of an EARTH monster). Bonaparte then activates "Toy Cannon" to switch this card to Defense Position. He then activates "Gulliver Chain" to prevent Crowler from switching this card's battle position. After Crowler activates "Ancient Gear Castle", this card gains 300 ATK due to the effect of "Ancient Gear Castle". After Crowler Tributes "Ancient Gear Castle" (which had one counter on it) in order to Tribute Summon "Ancient Gear Engineer", this card loses the ATK boost from "Ancient Gear Castle". "Ancient Gear Engineer" then attacks and destroys "Toy Soldier". The third effect of "Ancient Gear Engineer" then activates, allowing Crowler to destroy "Gulliver Chain". Crowler then activates "Zero Gravity" to switch the battle positions of all monsters on the field. Because of this, this card switches to Attack Position while "Ancient Gear Engineer" and "Toy Emperor" are switched to Defense Position. This card then attacks and destroys "Toy Emperor". This card then inflicts piercing damage to Bonaparte, winning Crowler the duel.
  • In episode 92, Crowler uses this card during his Triangle Duel against Bonaparte and Maximillion Pegasus. He Tribute Summons this card by Tributing two "Ancient Gear Soldiers". Pegasus then activates "Toon Briefcase" to return this card to Crowler's Deck, but Bonaparte activates "Malfunction" to negate "Toon Briefcase" and return it to its original position. Crowler then equips this card with "Ancient Gear Fist". This card then attacks "Toon Dark Magician Girl", but Pegasus uses the second effect of "Toon Kingdom" to prevent "Toon Dark Magician Girl's" destruction, however he still takes Battle Damage from the attack. The effect of "Ancient Gear Fist" then activates, destroying "Toon Dark Magician Girl" at the end of the Battle Phase. On the last turn of the Duel, Pegasus equips this card with "Comic Hand", which switches control of this card to Pegasus and treats this card as a Toon Monster. Pegasus then activates "Doppleganger" to take "Ancient Gear Explosive" from Crowler's Graveyard and add it to his (Pegasus's) hand. Pegasus then activates "Ancient Gear Explosive" to target this card and inflict damage to Bonaparte equal to half of this card's ATK, defeating him. This card then attacks Crowler directly, winning Pegasus the duel.
  • In episode 131, this card is shown in a flashback Chancellor Sheppard has when he explains there was reason why he had paid attention to Jaden since his freshman days. This card is shown on Sheppard's monitor while he was observing Jaden's Duel against Crowler.
  • In episode 167, Crowler uses this card during his Duel against Jaden. He Special Summons three copies via "Spell Gear". The three copies then attack and destroy "Elemental HERO Clayman", "Elemental HERO Wildheart", and "Elemental HERO Sparkman". Two of the copies then inflict piercing damage to Jaden since "Clayman" and "Wildheart" were in Defense Position. Later "Elemental HERO Flare Neos" (whose ATK was 3700 due to its own effect) attacks and destroys one copy. On Crowler's next turn, he activates "Ancient Gear Workshop" to return the copy in his Graveyard to his hand. Crowler then activates "Polymerization" to fuse all three copies together and Fusion Summon "Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem". After "Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem" and "Elemental HERO Air Neos" destroy each other in a Double KO and Jaden activates the effect of "Cyclone Wing" to destroy "Unfinished Time Box" (which returns the banished "Elemental HERO Flame Wingman" to the field), Crowler activates the final effect of "Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem" to revive one copy of this card. Jaden then activates "Demise of the Land" to activate "Skyscraper" from his Deck. "Flame Wingman" then attacks this card. Due to the effect of "Skyscraper", "Flame Wingman" gains 1000 ATK during damage calculation only. "Flame Wingman" then destroys this card and inflicts damage to Crowler equal to this card's ATK, winning Jaden the Duel and mirroring the end of Crowler and Jaden's first Duel, a coincidence not lost upon Crowler.
    • This card is also shown in a flashback Crowler has when Jaden reminds him that the current monsters on the field make it look just like their first Duel.
  • This card's attack name is Mechanized Meleé in the dub and Ultimate Pound in the original.

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's[edit]

  • In episode 67, Rudolph Heitmann uses this card during his Standing Duel against Yusei Fudo. He Special Summons three copies of this card via the effects of three "Ancient Gear Statues", ignoring the summoning conditions. Yusei then activates "Tuner's Barrier" to prevent "Flamvell Guard" from being destroyed until the end of the next turn. All three copies then attack "Flamvell Guard". None of the attacks destroy "Flamvell Guard", but the three copies then inflict piercing damage to Yusei. Heitmann then activates "Level Thunder" to inflict damage to Yusei equal to the combined Levels of all face-up monsters on his side of the field times 100. Since the total combined levels of all face-up monsters on Heitmann's side of the field is 24, "Level Thunder" inflicts 2400 damage to Yusei, but Yusei discards "Hanewata" from his hand via its own effect to make the effect damage he takes 0. On the last turn of the Duel, Yusei activates "Tuner's Explosion" to destroy all three copies and inflict 1000 damage to Heitmann for each destroyed monster. Since three monsters were destroyed, Heitmann takes 3000 damage.
    • Heitmann stated that the Ancient Gear Deck is a special Vintage Deck that only the elite instructors at Duel Academy are allowed to use.
