"~The Beginning~ The Frontier Lands, Crash Town" is the first chapter in the video game Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's World Championship 2011: Over the Nexus.

Summary[edit]

The story starts in the deserted Crash Town. The player has a dream of becoming the best duelist, but is awakened by Klaus. He sternly reminds the player not to pursue such a lofty dream, and heads off to his Dyne mining job. Before leaving, he reminds the player that their Deck is on the table.

After collecting their Deck, the player goes outside, where they are greeted by West and his sister Nico. West is excited for the Crash Town card shop's upcoming opening. Nico invites the player to hang out at their hideout, and the player follows them there. West is eager to show the player something they developed, but Nico says that they'll need some time to prepare, so West challenges the player to a Duel to pass the time. This introduces the player to the Crash Town quick-time event that decides who goes first.

The player wins to West's frustration, but he brushes off the loss and rewards the player with the "Spore" card. Nico is still missing one card for their surprise, so West hands her one of his cards, takes over the prep work, and suggests that she Duel the player. The player wins again, and Nico gives them the "Krebons" card, saying that she doesn't feel she's good enough to use it.

Nico and West show the player that they have created a few Duel Puzzles and ask the player to try them. Completing three puzzles rewards the player with the card "Enemy Controller".

Toru then arrives to greet the player and their friends. West is annoyed that he's been spending so much time building his Duel Runner that he hasn't had time to spare to play with them. Nico wonders if Toru is done, but he explains that he's only here to pick up a tool that he left behind. The conversation is interrupted by the card shop opening, and West excitedly heads over to check it out.

At the card shop, West lets the player know of the Rental Deck tournament hosted at the shop, where the players compete with pre-made decks. One of the competitors didn't show up, so West suggests that the player enters in his place. After speaking to Iranami the tournament organizer, the player goes through three Rental Deck Duels — first against West, then Nico, then against Narumi, one of the shop staff. After emerging victorious with "Dark End Dragon" as their prize, the player meets Bronson, the no-show participant. He learns that the tournament has ended without him and angrily Duels the player. Bronson is defeated, but is delighted to know that the player won the tournament in his place and reasons that they've put on a better show than he would have. He gives the player the "Soul Taker" card and congratulates them on their victory.

The player returns to their house to find that Klaus has finished work for the day. He invites the player to join him on a shopping trip in Satellite for the next day.
