- In episode 109, Axel Brodie contemplated Special Summoning this card via his face-down "Volcanic Force" during his duel against Jaden Yuki, but opts for a different strategy with "Wild Fire". This leads to him losing the duel since he did not count on Jaden's set card being "Elemental Mirage".
- In episode 131, Axel Summons this card to aide in opening the portal to the alternate dimension.
- In episode 142, Axel uses this card against Skull Knight. He Special Summons it by sending his "Tri-Blaze Accelerator" to the Graveyard. He then activates "Volcanic Mine", Special Summoning four "Bomb Tokens" to Skull Knight's field. This card then destroys "Lycanthrope". This card's effect then destroys the four Bomb Tokens on Skull Knight's side of the field and inflicts 500 damage to Skull Knight per Token. Since four were destroyed, Skull Knight takes 2000 damage, winning Axel the duel.
- In episode 143, Axel uses this card against The Supreme King. He Special Summons it by sending "Tri-Blaze Accelerator" to the Graveyard. This card then destroys The King's "Evil Hero Infernal Sniper". Later "Evil Hero Malicious Edge" equipped with "Vicious Claw" attacks "Volcanic Hammerer", but this card's effect redirects the attack to this card, causing the attack to backfire, but The King saves his monster from destruction by returning his "Vicious Claw" to his hand. "Vicious Claw"'s other effect then destroys "Volcanic Hammerer" and inflicts 600 damage to Axel. On the last turn of the duel Axel uses this card to attack The King's "Malicious Edge", but The King activates his face-down "Super Polymerization" to fuse "Malicious Edge" with the "Evil Token" he had Special Summoned to Axel's side of the field via "Vicious Claw" to Fusion Summon "Evil Hero Malicious Fiend". A replay occurs, but "Malicious Fiend"'s effect then forces this card to attack it, destroying it, but Axel then removes the "Volcanic Counter" in his Graveyard from play to inflict the same amount of damage that he took from the attack to the Supreme King, ending the duel in a draw.
- In episode 169, Axel uses this card in his Duel against Trueman. He Special Summons this card by sending "Tri-Blaze Accelerator" to the Graveyard. He then attacks directly with it, but Trueman removes the "Volcanic Shell" in his Graveyard from play via "Firewall" to negate the attack. Trueman later forces Axel to choose between saving this card or "Volcanic Queen" via "The Unselected One". Axel chooses this card so his set Traps and "Volcanic Queen" are destroyed. "Volcanic Queen" then goes to Trueman's side due to its effect. On his next turn, Axel uses this card to attack the "Volcanic Queen" now under Trueman's control, but Trueman activates his face-down "Volcanic Curse", increasing "Volcanic Queen's" attack points by 1000(500 for each Pyro-type monster in both players' Graveyards at the timing "Volcanic Curse" was activated). This lets "Volcanic Queen" destroy this card and defeat Axel.

- In episode 65, this card is shown when Trudge explains the rulings for the World Racing Grand Prix that is going to be held soon as well as how dueling has changed since the integration of New Domino City and Satellite.
- Strangely, Volcanic Doomfire can only be Special Summoned by sending a face-up Tri-Blaze Accelerator from the controller's field to the Graveyard. Since Tri-Blaze Accelerator is a Spell Card which cannot be used in Turbo Duels because of the restriction effect of Speed World.
