As a baby, Crowley was left in a basket in the woods. Despite there being wild animals present, he was protected by the spirit, Korozo, until he was found by a retired scholar, who assumed the role of a surrogate grandfather.[1]
Korozo, who was only visible to Crowley, stuck with him through his life. Crowley would sometimes be mistaken as being talking to himself when speaking to Korozo and some people would dismiss Koroza as being imaginary.[1]
Crowley was considered to have gotten a good upbringing and he grew into an honest young man with no grudges against the world.
