"Elemental HERO Sparkman":

Anime

  • Sparkman is one of Jaden's most frequently used monster alongside "Avian" and "Burstinatrix".
  • Static Shockwave is the name of Sparkman's attack in the English Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, although Spark Storm has also been used. The video games substitute this attack name for Shining Surge Flash in the card text. In the Japanese version the attack name is Spark Flash.

  • In the 4kids dubbed version of episode 95, Jaden mistakingly refers to Sparkman as an effect monster, saying that he'll draw a card when Sparkman's destroyed. In reality, he drew a card because of Card Trooper's effect; Sparkman is a Normal monster.
  • In episode 2, Jaden summons this card during his duel with Chazz. Jaden then has this card attack and destroy "Chthonian Soldier". This however activates "Chthonian Soldier"'s effect, making Jaden take the same amount of Battle Damage that Chazz took. Chazz then attacks this card with "Elemental HERO Flame Wingman", but Jaden activates "Mirror Gate" to swap control of both battling monsters and then calculate damage. This card is then destroyed by "Elemental HERO Flame Wingman".
  • In episode 7, Jaden uses this card in his practice duel against Syrus Truesdale. Jaden then has this card destroy "Patroid". Next turn, Jaden uses "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Clayman" to create "Thunder Giant".
  • In episode 8, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Zane Truesdale. Jaden uses "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Clayman" to create "Thunder Giant".
  • In episode 13, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Wheeler. It is summoned on the first turn of the duel. Wheeler then destroys this card with "Berserk Gorilla".
  • In episode 14, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Jinzo. Jaden summons it through "A Hero Emerges". This causes a replay to occur and Jinzo then has "Emissary of the Afterlife" attack this card, resulting in both monsters being destroyed since they both had the same ATK.
  • In episode 16, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Beauregard disguised as The Duel Giant. He then equipped this card with "Spark Blaster". He then used the latter card to switch "Giant Orc" into Defense Position and the two "Half-Goblins" into Attack Position. Since he used it three times, "Spark Blaster" is destroyed. Jaden then uses "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Clayman" to create "Thunder Giant". A bit later Jaden used "De-Fusion" to defuse "Thunder Giant" back into this card and "Clayman". After "Clayman" destroyed the last "Half-Goblin", Jaden had this card attack and destroy "Goblin King", winning him the duel.
  • In episode 18, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Dimitri while the latter was using Yugi's deck. Jaden uses "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Clayman" to create "Thunder Giant". In the next episode, Jaden adds this card back to his hand with "The Warrior Returning Alive". Jaden then summons it and then he has this card destroy a Kuriboh token. After all of Dimitri's monsters are gone next turn, Jaden has this card attack Dimitri directly, but Dimitri discards "Kuriboh" to make the Battle Damage 0. This card played no other part in the duel after that.
  • In episode 20, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Blair Flannigan. Jaden has this card attack "Elemental HERO Avian", but Blair activates "Defense Maiden" to redirect the attack to "Maiden in Love" whose effect prevents its destruction. This card then gained a Maiden Counter. Blair then equipped "Maiden in Love" with "Happy Marriage" which increased "Maiden in Love"'s ATK equal to "Avian"'s ATK. This card is then attacked by "Maiden in Love" with its effect preventing its destruction. "Cupid Kiss" then gave control of this card to Blair. Blair then had this card and "Avian" attack Jaden directly. Jaden later used "Burst Return" to return "Avian" and this card back to his hand.
  • In episode 21, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Bastion. He then equips this card with "Spark Blaster". He then uses "Spark Blaster"'s effect to switch "Oxygeddon" into Defense Position. Jaden has this card attack Bastion directly after "Oxygeddon" is destroyed by "Burstinatrix". On his next turn, Jaden attempts to use "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Avian" and "Bubbleman" to create "Tempest", however Bastion uses "Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell" to negate "Polymerization" and destroy it as well as forbid Jaden from activating it for the remainder of the duel. In the same episode, this card can be seen when Jaden is shown rebuilding his Deck for his duel against Bastion. In the next episode, Jaden switches this card into Defense Position and summons "Avian" in Defense Position. This card is then destroyed by "Water Dragon" while "Mathematician" destroys "Avian".
  • In episode 23, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Belowski. Jaden then has this card destroy "Mokey Mokey". This card is later attacked by "Happy Lover" who is destroyed as it was weaker than this card. However this activates "Mokey Mokey Smackdown"'s effect, making the ATK of all "Mokey Mokey" 3000 until the End Phase. This card later attacks Belowski directly after "Elemental HERO Wildheart" destroys "Haniwa". This card is later attacked by a "Mokey Mokey" affected by "Mokey Mokey Smackdown", but Jaden activates "Hero Barrier" to negate the attack. This card is then destroyed by another "Mokey Mokey" affected by "Mokey Mokey Smackdown". In the same episode, this card can be shown when Jaden is shown rebuilding his Deck.
  • In episode 25, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Chazz. Jaden uses "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Avian" and "Bubbleman" and create "Tempest". Later Jaden uses "De-Fusion" to defuse "Tempest" back into this card, "Avian" and "Bubbleman". This card is then destroyed by "Armed Dragon LV5".
  • In episode 28, this card was in Jaden's hand during his duel with Gravekeeper's Chief. Jaden was forced to discard this card to the Graveyard because of "Royal Tribute".
  • In episode 30, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Nightshroud. He uses "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Clayman" to create "Thunder Giant". Later Jaden summons back this card with "Silent Doom". He then uses "Fusion Gate"'s effect to remove from play this card, "Avian" and "Bubbleman" and create "Elemental HERO Tempest".
  • In episode 33, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Camula. He uses "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Avian" and "Bubbleman" and create "Tempest". Jaden later uses "Dark Factory of Mass Production" to add this card and "Avian" back to his hand. After creating "Flame Wingman" with "Fusion Gate"'s effect, Jaden uses "Fusion Gate"'s effect to remove from play this card and "Flame Wingman" and create "Elemental HERO Shining Flare Wingman".
  • In episode 37, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Tania. Jaden uses "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Clayman" and create "Thunder Giant". Later Tania uses "Amazoness Call" to defuse this card back into this card and "Clayman". Jaden then has this card attack "Amazoness Swords Woman", but Tania acitvates "Amazoness Archers", decreasing the ATK of all of Jaden's monsters by 600 and forcing them all to battle. As a result, the attack backfired on Jaden, resuting in this card's destruction since it was now weaker than "Amazoness Swords Woman".
  • In episode 38, Jaden uses this card in his duel against the Admiral. He uses "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Clayman" and create "Thunder Giant". Later Jaden brings this card back to his hand with "The Warrior Returning Alive". He then Normal Summons it to the field. After Jaden uses "Elemental HERO Neo Bubbleman"'s effect to destroy "Levia-Dragon - Daedalus", Jaden has this card attack the Admiral directly, winning him the duel.
  • In episode 40, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Abidos the Third. It is added to his hand via "E - Emergency Call". Jaden then summons this card to the field. After he fails to destroy "The First Sarcophagus" with "R - Righteous Justice", Jaden has this card attack and destroy "Pharaoh's Servant". Jaden a bit later activates "Invincible Hero" to prevent this card from being destroyed by battle this turn. Abidos counter with "Thousand Energy" which increases the ATK of the two "Pharaoh's Servants" and the two "Pharaonic Protectors" by 1000. This card is then attacked by "Spirit of the Pharaoh", the two "Pharaoh's Servants" and the two "Pharaonic Protectors" with "Invincible Hero"'s effect preventing this card from being destroyed by battle. However Jaden still took Battle Damage from all the attacks. Later Jaden plays "HERO Flash!!" to allow this card, "Avian", "Burstinatrix" and "Clayman" to attack Abidos directly and win Jaden the duel.
  • In episode 46, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Amnael. It is summoned via "Hero Signal". This however activates the effect of "Helios Trice Megistus", allowing it to attack again. This card is then destroyed by "Helios Trice Megistus".
  • In episode 48, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Kagemaru. He uses "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Avian" and "Bubbleman" to Fusion Summon "Tempest". In the next episode, Jaden uses "Fusion Recovery" to return this card and "Polymerization" back to his hand. He then uses "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Flame Wingman" to Fusion Summon "Shining Flare Wingman". Later Jaden defuses "Shining Flare Wingman" back into "Flame Wingman" and this card via "De-Fusion" when "Raviel, Lord of Phantasms" powered up by its own effect attacks "Shining Flare Wingman". This card is then destroyed by "Uria, Lord of Searing Flames".
  • In episode 52, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Zane Truesdale. He uses "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Flame Wingman" to Fusion Summon "Shining Flare Wingman".
  • In episode 53, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Aster Phoenix. He uses it to attack and destroy "Ojama Yellow". This card is later destroyed by the effect of "Archlord Zerato". On the last turn of the duel, Jaden uses "The Warrior Returning Alive" to return this card back to his hand. He then uses "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Avian" and "Sparkman" to create "Tempest". After the latter destroys "Archlord Zerato" thanks to its own effect, Jaden uses "De-Fusion" to defuse "Tempest" back into its separate Fusion Material monsters. Jaden then has all three of his monsters attack Aster directly, winning him the duel.
  • In episode 58, Jaden and Aster both use this card. Jaden uses "Polymerization" to fuse his copy with "Avian" and "Bubbleman" to Fusion Summon "Tempest". Later Aster uses "Polymerization" to fuse his copy with "Phoenix Enforcer" to Fusion Summon "Shining Phoenix Enforcer". Later Jaden uses "Miracle Fusion" to banish this card and "Flame Wingman" to Fusion Summon "Shining Flare Wingman". In the next episode, Aster targets "Shining Flare Wingman" with "Misfortune", but Jaden activates "De-Fusion" and "Burial from a Different Dimension". The latter card then returns this card and "Flame Wingman" back to the Graveyard. "De-Fusion" then defuses "Shining Flare Wingman" back into this card and "Flame Wingman", negating "Misfortune"'s effect since it lost its original target. Later Jaden uses "Fusion Gate"'s effect to banish this card and "Clayman" to Fusion Summon "Thunder Giant".
  • In episode 71, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Lorenzo. He then equips this card with "Element Sword". This card then attacks "B.E.S. Tetran" with "Element Sword" giving this card 800 more ATK and "Tetran"'s effect preventing its destruction. Lorenzo however still takes Battle Damage. This also in turn gets rid of the last counter on "Tetran", allowing "Bubbleman" to get rid of "Tetran" by attacking it. Later Lorenzo uses his "B.E.S. Crystal Core"'s effect to switch this card into Defense Position. "B.E.S. Crystal Core" then destroys this card.
  • In episode 72, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Howard X Miller. This card then attacks "Trap Sluzer", but X activates "Threatening Roar" to prevent Jaden from attacking this turn. Later this card is shuffled back into Jaden's Deck due to "Level Jar". This card is later one of the cards that Jaden draws due to "Level Jar"'s other effect. Later Jaden summons this card to the field. After "Elemental HERO Electrum" attacks "Neo-Spacian Glow Moss", and does not destroy it or inflict Battle Damage due to "Super Guard" and "Recycle Barrier" respectively, Jaden has this card attack "Glow Moss" with "Super Guard" preventing "Glow Moss"'s destruction and "Recycle Barrier" preventing Battle Damage. Due to "Glow Moss"'s effect, X is forced to send the top two cards of his Deck to the Graveyard. This card played no other part in the duel after that.
  • In episode 77, Jaden uses this card in his duel against T-Bone. He then has this card destroy "Mine Golem". This card is then destroyed by "Granmarg the Rock Monarch". Jaden later brings this card back with "O - Oversoul". He then uses "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Avian" and "Bubbleman" to create "Tempest". Later Jaden uses "De-Fusion" to defuse "Tempest" back into its Fusion Material parts. Jaden a bit later sends this card to the Graveyard with "Gift of the Martyr"'s effect.
  • In episode 80, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Alice. He uses "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Clayman" to Fusion Summon "Thunder Giant". Later Jaden returns this card and "Polymerization" to his hand via "Fusion Recovery".
  • In episode 81, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Bob Banter. It is summoned on the first turn of the duel. On Jaden's next turn, he has this card attack and destroy one of Bob's set monsters which is then revealed to be "Quiz Panel Obelisk: 10". This activates its effect. Jaden fails to answer the question correctly, so this card is destroyed and he takes 500 damage. Jaden later brings this card back with "O - Oversoul". He then has this card attack and destroy one of Bob's set monsters which is then revealed to be "Quiz Panel Slifer: 10". Jaden successfully does the physical challenge and Bob takes 500 damage. This card later attacks and destroys one of Bob's set monsters which is then revealed to be "Quiz Panel Ra: 30". Jaden fails to answer the question correctly. Bob then activates "Double It!" to double the damage that Jaden would have received at the cost of preventing this card from bein destroyed by "Quiz Panel Ra: 30"'s effect. Later Bob attacks this card with "Quizzer Panel 9", but Jaden activates "Secret Mission" to negate the attack and shuffle this card and "Flame Wingman" into face-down Attack Position. Bob attacks with "Quizzer Panel 9" due to "Secret Mission"'s effect forcing him to, but it then reveals that he attacked "Flame Wingman", resulting in "Quizzer Panel 9"'s destruction. "Flame Wingman" then inflicts damage to Bob equal to "Quizzer Panel 9"'s ATK, winning Jaden the duel.
  • In episode 86, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Orlando. He then has this card attack "Yoshitsune the Goblin of Beauty", but Orlando uses the latter card's effect to switch it into Defense Position. Due to "Yoshitsune"'s other effect, it is not destroyed. This card later loses 500 ATK because of "Dramatic Pose". This card is then destroyed by "Armed Samurai - Ben Kei" powered up by the effect of "Monk Halberd" and "Dramatic Pose". Jaden later uses "Miracle Fusion" to remove from play this card and "Flame Wingman" to Fusion Summon "Shining Flare Wingman".
  • In episode 87, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Chazz. This card then destroys "White Knight Swordsman". Jaden switches this card to Defense Position next turn. This card is then destroyed by "Tribute to the Doomed". This card went to Chazz's Graveyard in the next episode due to "Cemetery Change", but since Jaden is shown using this card in episodes after this one, Chazz very likely gave this card and every card that was Jaden's back to him shortly after the duel was over off-screen since he only wanted to take back the Ojama cards he thought Jaden stole from him(in reality Jaden placed the Ojamas into his Deck to help snap Chazz out of the trance he was under).
  • In episode 93, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Alexis Rhodes. This card then destroys "Illusion Ice Sculpture". Alexis then destroys this card with "White Night Queen". In the next episode, Jaden brings this card back with "O - Oversoul". Jaden then equips this card with "Spark Blaster". He then uses the latter's effect to switch "Card Trooper" into Defense Position. This card is then destroyed by "White Night Queen".
  • In episode 99, Jaden uses this card against Ojin. He summons it on the first turn of the duel. This card is then destroyed by "Satellite Cannon" powered up by the effect of "Charge". Jaden later uses "Miracle Fusion" to banish this card and "Flame Wingman" to Fusion Summon "Shining Flare Wingman".
  • In episode 102, Jaden uses this card against Sartorius. He uses "Double Fusion" to fuse this card with "Flame Wingman" to Fusion Summon "Shining Flare Wingman". In the next episode, Jaden brings this card back with "O - Oversoul". Jaden then uses "H - Heated Heart" to give this card 500 more ATK until the End Phase. This card then destroys "Arcana Force IV - The Emperor" powered up by its own effect. This card is then destroyed by "Arcana Force XXI - The World". In the following episode, Jaden returns this card to his Deck via "Fifth Hope".
  • In episode 114, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Mr. Stein. He summons it via "Hero Signal". He then equips this card with "Spark Blaster". He then uses "Spark Blaster"'s effect to switch "Scab Scar-Knight" into Defense Position. This card then attacks "Scab Scar-Knight", but Mr. Stein uses "Victim Barrier" to redirect the attack to "Burstinatrix", destroying it instead. "Victim Barrier" then placed a Scab Counter on this card. "Scab Scar-Knight" then switched control of this card. This card then attacks Jaden directly, but Jaden activates "A Hero Emerges". Mr. Stein chooses one card in Jaden's hand and it is then revealed to be "Neos". Because of that, Jaden summons "Neos" to the field. Due to that, Mr. Stein calls off his attack. This card is later destroyed by the effect of "Scar-Knight".
  • In episode 126, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Chazz while the latter was a Duel Ghoul. Jaden then has this card destroy "Return Zombie". Jaden and this card then try to get past Chazz while he was reeling from the damage made by the attack, but Chazz quickly recovers and summons "Vorse Raider". "Vorse Raider" then destroys this card.
  • In episode 129, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Marcel. This card then attacks "Chaos Core", but Marcel uses his "Chaos Core"'s efect to send the three Sacred Beasts to the Graveyard and place three Sacred Beast Counters. Marcel then removes one Counter to prevent his monster's destruction and reduce the Battle Damage to 0. Next turn, Jaden targets this card for the effect of "Tag Request". "Necroshade" and this card then attack "Chaos Core", but Marcel removes the remaining counters on "Chaos Core" to prevent his monster's destruction and nullify the damage. Jaden then uses "Instant Fusion" to fuse his two monsters and create "Elemental HERO Darkbright". After the latter is destroyed due to "Chaos Burst", Jaden uses "O - Oversoul" to bring back this card. This card is then destroyed by "Phantom of Chaos" who had turned itself into a copy of "Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder". Jaden takes no Battle Damage due to "Phantom of Chaos"' effect, but the effect it copied from "Hamon" made up for that, inflicting 1000 damage to Jaden. In the next episode, Jaden returns this card to his Deck via "Fifth Hope".
  • In episode 133, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Scarr. He use "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Clayman" to Fusion Summon "Thunder Giant".
  • In episode 146, this card can be seen in Jaden's hand during his duel against Zane, but it was never played. Zane notes if Jaden summoned this card instead of "Clayman" and used it with "Spark Blaster" and "Hero Barrier", he might have won the duel.
  • In episode 153, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Yubel. Jaden then equips this card with "Spark Blaster". Jaden then uses "Spark Blaster"'s effect to switch "Regenerating Rose" into Defense Position. This card then destroys "Regenerating Rose". This card is then attacked by "Yubel" whose effect prevents its destruction. Jaden then takes all the Battle Damage Yubel would have taken due to "Yubel"'s other effect. Jaden then switches this card into Defense Position. This card is then attacked by "Yubel", but Jaden uses "Hero Barrier" to negate the attack. Yubel then activates "Zero Sprite" to allow "Yubel" to attack again. "Yubel" then attacks "Sparkman" again and the former is not destroyed due to its effect. Its other effect then makes Jaden take all of the Battle Damage Yubel would have taken. In the next episode, Jaden sends this card to the Graveyard via "Neo-Space Wave". In the following episode, Jaden returns this card to his Deck via "Fifth Hope".
  • In episode 158, Jaden uses this card in hsi duel against Trueman. This card is summoned on the first turn of the duel. Trueman then uses "Power Gift" to discard "Molten Zombie" and increase this card's ATK by the ATK of "Molten Zombie". Trueman then uses "Dark Archetype" to attack this card. "Dark Archetpe" is destroyed since it was weaker, but this activates the secondary effect of "Power Gift", destroying this card at the end of the Damage Step.
  • In episode 161, Jaden uses this card in his Tag Duel with Alexis against Chancellor Sheppard and Ms. Dorothy. He uses "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Necroshade" to Fusion Summon "Darkbright". After the latter attacks "Marshmallon", Jaden uses "De-Fusion" to defuse "Darkbright" back into this card and "Necroshade". Both this card and "Necroshade" then attack "Marshmallon" with the latter's effect preventing its destruction, however Sheppard and Ms. Dorothy still take Battle Damage from the attack. Since Sheppard and Ms. Dorothy's Life Points had hit 0 after the third attack, Jaden and Alexis won the duel.
  • In episode 165, Jaden uses this card in his Duel against Chazz. He then equips this card with "Spark Blaster". Jaden then uses "Spark Blaster"'s effect to switch "Ojama Yellow" into Attack Position. This card then destroys "Ojama Yellow". This card is then destroyed by "Ojama Delta Hurricane!!". Jaden later brings this card back with "O - Oversoul". After using "Double Fusion" to bring out "Flame Wingman", Jaden uses "Double Fusion"'s effect to fuse this card with "Flame Wingman" to Fusion Summon "Shining Flare Wingman".
  • In episode 167, Jaden uses this card in his Duel against Dr. Crowler. He summons it via "Crazy Summon Gear". It is then destroyed by one of Crowler's "Ancient Gear Golems". Jaden later returns this card to his Deck via "Fifth Hope".
  • In episode 168, Jaden uses this card in his Duel against a Ra Yellow student. He uses this card to attack the Ra student directly, winning Jaden the Duel.
  • In episode 172, Jaden uses this card in his duel against Jesse while he was seeing Jesse as Trueman due to darkness affecting his mind. He uses "Polymerization" to fuse this card with "Avian" and "Bubbleman" to Fusion Summon "Tempest".
  • In episode 176, Jaden uses this card in his Triangle Duel with Jesse and Yusuke. It is summoned via "Hero Signal". Since this card was LIGHT Attribute and "Clear World" was face-up on the field, Jaden had to play with his hand revealed. This card is later returned to Jaden's Deck via the effect of "Rainbow Dragon".
  • In episode 177, Jaden uses this card in his final Duel against Nightshroud. As soon as it was summoned, Nightshroud activated "Zero" whose effect activates "Infinity". The effect of "Infinity" then activates the card in between "Zero" and "Infinity" which was "Darkness 1" whose effect destroys a number of cards Jaden controls equal to the number of face-up "Darkness" Traps Nightshroud controls. Since Nightshroud controls one, one card on Jaden's field is destroyed and Nightshroud chooses to have the effect of "Darkness 1" destroy this card. This however allows Jaden to activate "Relationship" which Jaden uses to summon "Necroshade".
