Earthdamar

Yuhi Ohdo's Earthdamar.

The Earthdamar (アースダマー Āsudamā) is a mysterious substance in Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!! that seems to be a part of Yuhi Ohdo. Yuhi had it stolen from him by Tell Kawai, and has been searching for it.[1] It is initially a mystery as to what the Earthdamar is; Yuhi refuses to explain when asked by Yudias Velgear, and Galixon Tazaki has admitted he doesn't know what it is himself.[2]

Though initially an inert substance, the Earthdamar later begins exhibiting its own ego and personality. Desiring entertainment, it breaks out of containment at the MIK Headquarters in search of Zuwijo zir Velgear. While possessing Yuamu Ohdo, Yuhi gives it the name "Damamu" (ダマムー Damamū).

The Earthdamar of Otes would eventually become The Creator.

It is eventually revealed that the Earthdamar is the embodiment of a being's ability to enjoy and that other humans also possess it. Zuwijo desires to steal the Earthdamar from Earth in order to convert the Velgearians into "true" life-forms.[3]

The Earthdamar is a translucent blackish-purple miasma-like fluid. It can take on a shape vaguely resembling Yuhi Ohdo's silhouette whenever it is let out of its container.[4]

AbilitiesEdit

The Earthdamar demonstrates a significant range of abilities over the course of Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!!.

Egil VelgearEdit

The Earthdamar has the ability to materialize Rush Duel Monsters from the solid vision world and bring them into the real world; this ability is dubbed "Egil Velgear" by Zuwijo zir Velgear. Bringing Rush Duel Monsters into the real world makes them physical beings, allowing them to interact with people and deal real damage in Duels.[5]

It is further clarified that a Duel Disk can be "soaked" in the Earthdamar to allow a Duelist to control it depending on how strong-willed they are. Chupataro Kaburagi (dismissed as weak by Mitsuko Hiramori) had his Duel Disk soaked in the substance for thirty minutes, and he suffered severe ill-effects as a result of using it; meanwhile, Zuwijo (stated to be far more strong-willed) had his Duel Disk soaked for thirty-three hours, and is largely able to use the power with minor harm.[6]

The following monsters have been brought to life with the power of the Earthdamar:

  • "Magical Sheep Girl Meeeg-chan":
  • "Voidvelgr Hecatoncheir": During Yudias's Duel with Zuwijo, Zuwijo uses Egil Velgear to bring this monster to life. The materialized "Hecatoncheir" was so heavy its weight caused the apex platform of Mutsuba Tower to tip over until it stomped on the tower to attack Yudias, thereby shifting its weight and leveling it out again. While in Attack Position, it was free to attack Yudias until it changed itself to Defense Position to activate its own effect, immobilizing itself. It was able to attack again after Yudias switched it back to Attack Position, even on Yudias's turn.
  • "Voidvelgr Requiem": During Yudias's Duel with Zuwijo, Zuwijo uses Egil Velgear Gyrudo to bring this monster to life. He then used the power of the Earthdamar to clad himself in it, manipulating the monster as if he were it. This allowed Zuwijo to continue the Duel inside "Requiem" (which also materialized a copy of Zuwijo's Duel Disk) while also attacking Yudias with its sword and tail. Zuwijo would also use Egil Velgear Gyurudo on "Requiem" during his second Duel with Yudias and his Duel with Manabu Sogetsu.
  • "Voidvelgr Gigantomachia": During Yudias's second Duel wit Zuwijo, Zuwijo once again used Egil Velgear Gyurudo on "Voidvelgr Requiem" to clad himself with it. He later fused "Requiem" with "Voidvelgr Chrysaor" into "Gigantomachia", continuing to inhabit the monster until its destruction and his defeat.
  • "Voidvelgr Apocalypse": Zuwijo used Damamu's cooperation to bring this monster to life during his Rush Duel with Manabu Sogetsu. After Manabu cracked from the stress of the UTS personal believing him a traitor, he began attacking Zuwijo, Dinois Velgear and Muda Velgear with an Anti-Cartomata Beam; Zuwijo used "Apocalypse" to shield them from its effects.

Egil Velgear GyrudoEdit

An evolution of Egil Velgear used by Zuwijo in his Duel against Yudias. Zuwijo was able to clad himself with the physically materialized "Voidvelgr Requiem", entering the monster and controlling its movements; Zuwijo was surrounded by the purple mist of the Earthdamar while inside "Requiem", viewing the outside world through a green orb, but was still able to move freely, with "Requiem" mimicking every movement he made. In this form, a larger form of Zuwijo's Duel Disk appeared on the arm of "Requiem", although the Duel Disk had no cards and Zuwijo continued to use his own Duel Disk from inside the monster. Additionally, since the Earthdamar originated from Yuhi, Yuhi's physical body fell unconscious, with his consciousness melded into "Requiem".[7] Zuwijo later demonstrates the capability to use this ability simply by being in proximity to Damamu.

PossessionEdit

The Earthdamar is capable of possessing humans. While in a human's body, the Earthdamar is capable of encasing them and others in a sphere of its own substance that can rapidly travel through space at faster-than-light speeds. Though the host and passengers will inevitably be injured once they crash-land, their injuries are usually minor.[8][9]

Positive energyEdit

The Earthdamar embodies a being's ability to enjoy something. It was capable of restoring Yudias Velgear from a shirt-like state with only brief exposure, and appears to have given him a subsequent immunity to the Anti-Cartomata Beam.[10][11]

Other abilitiesEdit

The effects of Earthdamar can be transmitted over an area at least the size of a town via radio waves, as Zuwijo tried to use Mutsuba Tower, an under-construction control facility for Rush Duel communication data, to materialize monsters all over Mutsuba Town. His efforts only partially materialized the monsters before the process was stopped by Asaka Mutsuba.[7]
