"Frightfur", known as "Death-Toy" (デストーイ Desutōi) in the OCG, is an archetype of DARK Fiend-Type Fusion Monsters used by Sora Shiun'in in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V anime. The "Frightfur" monsters serve as the "bosses" of both the "Fluffal" and "Edge Imp" archetypes, since the Fusion Materials used for their Fusion Summon reside in these archetypes.
Design
Appearance
"Frightfur" monsters are based off of corrupted versions of animals from "Fluffal" archetype. They feature a destroyed plush toy with the respective "Edge Imp" tools or weapons inside them, giving them a more demonic and terrifying appearance, in contrast to the "Fluffal" monsters.
Etymology
"Frightfur" is a pun on "frightful" and "fur". Their Japanese name "Death-Toy" directly describes their menacing appearances, and can also be a pun on "destroy".
Playing style
The "Frightfur" monsters can be summoned by Fusion Summon using "Edge Imp" monsters as the Fusion Material Monster. They rely primarily on "Fluffal" archetype with boosting effects. The "Des-Toy" monsters have offensive effects that either boost their ATK or grant additional attacks, destroying cards on the opponent's field, and even steal away an opponent's monster by equipping them to themselves or Special Summon them to their controller's field.
