Magnum Overlord (マグナム・オーバーロード Magunamu Ōbārōdo) is a series of DARK Attribute Machine Type Maximum Monsters, debuting in the Maximum Ultra Enhancement Pack. It is used by Yuga Ohdo (and his manga countepart) in the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS anime and manga, and Yudias Velgear in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!! anime.
Design[edit]
The series is inspired by the tokusatsu television genre (e.g. Super Sentai), as well as the mecha sci-fi genre (e.g. Zoids).
Magnum Overlord monsters are grouped into teams of color-coded machines that can combine together into a larger machine. The "Machine" trio are humanoid robots, the "Skystream" trio are airships, the "Wildgleam" trio are lion robots, and the "Fullsteam" trio are trains. This is inspired by the popular combining mecha gimmick of the tokusatsu genre.
The red Magnum Overlord monsters are the center Maximum Monsters. This is also inspired by the tokusatsu genre, where the red member is always the leader of a team.
