Zoroa (ゾロア Zoroa) is a character appearing in the Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Stories manga. He is the character version of the card "Zoroa, the Magistus of Flame".

Design

Appearance

Personality

Zoroa is a calm and powerful mage. He was once a caring individual, who even helped create Graybeard for shunned magic users. However his quest to learn the truth of magic caused him to compromise on moral principles, resulting in him acting manipulatively and losing empathy for others.

Abilities

Zoroa is a powerful mage and is very intelligent. He is capable of teleportation, levitation, and uses flame-based magic for combat. When he uses the "Absolute Flame Divine Lance" attack, Aleister claims it is incomparable to the other Magistus' own magic. When Endymion assumes it is power obtained from another world, Zoroa states that it is merely the true extent of his original power.

Biography

Zoroa and Spoon founded the town Graybeard, as a haven for spellcasters, at a time when people were fearful or disdainful towards spellcasters.[1] The town was to be as a place where spellcasters would be free to conduct their magic research safe from oppression[2]

Zoroa, after betraying his companions

During a feast, Zoroa noticed Endymion scoffing at Aleister Crowley's theories on another world, which magic power flows from and the possibility to summoning spirits from that world. He warned Endymion to not be so dismissive, as magic was still a broad topic, which worth studying in every area as anything could be possible.[1]

Zoroa showed up at the spring where Crowley, Endymion, and Rilliona encountered a spirit summoned from another world just after Korozo caused the spirit to disappear by absorbing all its magic power.[1]

Zoroa eventually went on to become a Magistus, as did Crowley, Endymion, and Rilliona. However Zoroa betrayed the others.[1] Because of Zoroa, all Magistus ended up opening Theurgy, the gate to other worlds. This was to result in a flow of magic power into their world. Despite knowing this would result in the deaths of many people and other lifeforms, Zoroa saw their deaths as part of a natural process necessary for the commencement of a new era, regarding the search for truth as being more important.[2]

Crowley, Endymion, and Rilliona attempted to combine their powers to close Theurgy, but were confronted by Zoroa, whom they failed to reason with. He launched an attack on the trio, who then responded by summoning their sacred guardians.[2]
