::: Thanks. I've switched Haru for Takashi (because he's gotten the most screen time of the 3 candidates), and re-arranged them by the amount of screen time they've gotten, which how the other 3 series seem to have been arranged. Revision as of 04:00, 25 June 2011

A small reminder

Cactus Bouncer's ability works only when another plant is on your side of the field. Due to this, if you tribute Lonefire for its effect, then you are free to summon your special summoned monster. At this point, Bouncer's effect reactivates. I think this loophole should be mentioned. In Debris Hime decks, you can still use Dragon to summon another plant type monster from your grave if there aren't any others already on the field besides bouncer. This is a key time to perform your special summons such as with Lonefire, Debris Dragon, Fertilizer, etc. Hope this helps. This is my 400th post too :D NYKid8295 22:46, April 4, 2010 (UTC)

Actually, the way Cactus Fighter and similar cards tend to work is by preventing all attempts at the forbidden action. In the same way that Imperial Iron Wall flat-out prevents all effects that would remove cards from play even activating, Cactus Fighter stops Lonefire from activating its effect. It's a nice idea, but it doesn't work. However, your Debris Hime suggestion works. —This unsigned comment was made by 94.173.184.193 (talkcontribs) 11:12, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Love the new page layout!

Thank you big time to whoever reformatted the front page, I have been complaining about the front page fortwo years and love that it's been fixed! Love and Peace! --MikaIzinsky 10:23, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

Featured Card

Maybe we should have a poll to see what people like for a featured card. We could just have a page where people could post nominations, Then anyone who likes them could just leave their Signature. I nominate Chaos Sorcerer Its a solid card that works well with popular decks. Its not to hard to find, and its easy to summon. Peace MCHatandClogs 15:05, April 24, 2010 (UTC)

I was thinking about doing one card from each set as they come out. This keeps the Featured Card up to date, and not changing every day. Remember, this isn't a fan-site, per se, so voting on our favorite cards may not be the best way to do it. DemonGodAsura 19:32, April 24, 2010 (UTC)
How is this not a fan site? —This unsigned comment was made by 173.45.220.252 (talkcontribs) 17:12, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
I think MChatandClogs has a good idea, there will not be a new card out every month, and some cards that are just starting to be used again or for the first time might fill in those monthly gaps. I think we should have a page devoted to voting, and then put the votes on the forums. --Tapper930 16:47, April 26, 2010 (UTC)
Well I'm not talking about voting for your favorite card, I mean we should vote for a card based on power, adaptability, useability, and all around strength in the game. Also, mostly all the people on this site are fans of the game. MCHatandClogs 03:53, April 27, 2010 (UTC)
I agree one per month is good, but we should stay away from mainstream cards, as everyone already knows what they do. DemonGodAsura 04:18, April 27, 2010 (UTC)
What defines "mainstream"? MCHatandClogs 04:19, April 27, 2010 (UTC)
Virtually anything from the most popular meta, such as "Blackwings", "Lightsworn", or even "Gladiator Beasts", and also no Staples. They are commonly known cards. DemonGodAsura 05:04, April 27, 2010 (UTC)
Well yeah that is totally right, we shoulden't mention those. I mean cool stuff not commonly used in the meta that could increase the power of most decks ie. Elemental Hero Neos Alius, Hes got solid atk and def, hes easy to search and a light monster so it works with cards like Honest and Chaos Sorcerer. Also ya can use him with Gemini Spark to zap-fry your opponents stubborn cards. By the way, yes I do run Alius. MCHatandClogs 12:53, April 27, 2010 (UTC)
I suggest that the main page feature one of the new beast-warrior type support that will be released, may be Akz, the Pumer. We all know that beast-warriors have been neglected for a long period of time. That is why they should be featured because the new support will bring a new dimension of playability for beast-warriors that many of us still don't fully comprehend.--Hide Head Turtle 13:39, April 29, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah! Head Turtle has the right idea! MCHatandClogs 23:12, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
Maybe not "Akz, the Pumer". There isn't much it can do, even in a great build. DemonGodAsura 23:34, April 30, 2010 (UTC)
Ok, maybe not Akz, the Pumer but we are taking steps in the right direction. There are always new cards (and some old ones) that can improve your deck. So, why not post one on the main page? Or better yet have featured CARDS (plural). We could have a short list of like 4 or 5 cards. I'm not talking about "cool" cards I mean like what people think the new Blackwings or Lightsworns will be. MCHatandClogs 05:24, May 3, 2010 (UTC)
Let's just stick to 1 card. The purpose of the Featured Card is to explain the use of an unheralded card, so picking an older card that complements current Decks well is a good idea. Going with multiple cards means only a few sentences each, which doesn't give enough space to explain their use. DemonGodAsura 08:01, May 3, 2010 (UTC)
Assuming I didn't get my facts mixed up, new packs come out every 3 months and structure decks don't really have the best set release dates, but would it make sense that after a pack comes out have one card from that pack, followed by one from a recently released structure deck followed by older cards or cards from a special pack (like Duelist Pack: Kaiba)? I don't know, sounded like a good way to order it monthly. D.Kaiser 18:47, May 3, 2010 (UTC)
Well that might be cool to, but I just think that the featured card is not updated enough, I mean how long has Cactus Bouncer been up for anyway? MCHatandClogs 00:16, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

Hmmm... maybe Infernity Launcher or Infernity Beetle. -- User:Master of Dragon Knight —Preceding undated comment added 22:18, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

How about Testudo erat Numen? We seem to be going on the lines of "prevent Special Summons" with Archlord Kristya and Cactus Fighter. Ascriptmaster 02:29, June 4, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, that sounds great. It's a tech card that isn't really straightforward but has a lot of potential. Best of all, its a turtle. However, I may be biased on this one.--Hide Head Turtle 02:31, June 4, 2010 (UTC)

I was actually thinking of either "Substitoad" or "Ronintoadin", as they are key cards for a potent Deck. I think it's time to break the "anti-Special Summon" category, I mean, who wants to read about more ways to prevent Special Summons. DemonGodAsura 08:11, June 4, 2010 (UTC)
I thought the main priority here is to introduce cards that have a lot of potential but aren't understood by people. Frogs have become an essential part of the meta and a lot of people already know what those cards are capable of. We already know that they swarm relatively well and that they make for great tribute fodder, etc...--Hide Head Turtle 09:47, June 4, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, we do want to unearth the hidden gems, but "Testudo erat Numen" isn't a gem. All it does is provide small anti-Special Summon in a format where small monsters are being Special Summoned outside of Synchro Summons, and bigger Normal Summon monsters like "Flamvell Firedog", "XX-Saber Boggart Knight", and "Doomcaliber Knight" are being used. So overall, "Testudo erat Numen" provides minimal support. DemonGodAsura 21:03, June 4, 2010 (UTC)
Isn't it about time for the anniversary of Yugioh Wikia for the featured card? I have an idea of "The Gift of Greed" for a possible candidate.--Tapper930 17:23, June 13, 2010 (UTC)

Page following

Whats up with the new and the blue layout? It preventing things from working. And I have to type in the URL to get to the watchlist. What's up with that? Idiot's page Future ruler of the world's talk 18:59, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

It's Wikia's new page following feature. The link to Special:Watchlist has been replaced with one to Special:Following. -- Deltaneos (talk) 19:38, May 9, 2010 (UTC)
I've added the necessary js to restore the link to the Watchlist... but it's not working. I don't know if it's a problem with cache, or if I've made a mistake. In the meantime, anyone who wants the watchlist link back, as seen in the blog, you can go to Special:Mypage/monaco.js and paste the following:
function restoreWatchlistLink () {
  var wlLink       = document.createElement('a');
  wlLink.href      = '/wiki/Special:Watchlist';
  wlLink.title     = 'Your watchlist';
  wlLink.innerHTML = "My watchlist";
  var wlObj        = document.createElement('span');
  wlObj.id         = 'header_mywatchlist';
  wlObj.appendChild(wlLink);
  document.getElementById('userData').insertBefore(wlObj, document.getElementById('header_mytalk').nextSibling);
}
addOnloadHook(restoreWatchlistLink);
Follow the instructions on the page for how to clear your cache and the link should be back.
Also, anyone who doesn't want their watchlist to be shown publicly, remember to go to Special:Preferences#prefsection-6 and tick "Make my followed pages lists private". -- Deltaneos (talk) 20:18, May 9, 2010 (UTC)
Nevermind, the watchlist link is appearing for some people after I added the js, but not for me. -- Deltaneos (talk) 16:18, May 10, 2010 (UTC)

The trap card Appropriate?

If someone goes in their dreck and use his effect would the trap card appropriate go in effect? If not what cards would work for appropiates effect? —This unsigned comment was made by 174.210.157.180 (talkcontribs) 12:00, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Effect Changes

If the effect of a card in the anime is changed when it's made into a real card. Shouldn't that be shown in the Trivia section? Because I've seen it in the Card Appearances section a lot. EvilHeroDarkGaia (talkcontribs) 15:27, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

The appearances page is for anime, manga, book and video game details, including appearances and properties. Trivia is for information about the card that doesn't go in any of the other pages. -- Deltaneos (talk) 16:54, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

Trolling

I know that this might be a little off topic, but unregistered contributers have been trolling on these pages: Stardust Dragon Red Dragon Archfiend Dark Magician Black Rose Dragon

These are all that I found. There might be more, but I don't know. If anyone who has experience in editing, can you please put those pages back to the way they were? I don't know how to set the formats up correctly.

Spamming

I was wondering if there's a solution on permanently removing users who create and edit pages by posting random keyboard combinations and/or writhing articles that are not related to Yu-Gi-Oh in any way. I don't think it would be harsh to bann these imbeciles by their IP addresses and never let them enter this Wikia page again. Anyone else could share their visions on this problem ?! Fuel Synchron (talkcontribs) 10:13, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

They mostly just edit once and then leave. In which case it is easy to revert their edit(s). There's no point in blocking them when it is unlikely they will return. Blocking is only needed if they become a recurring problem. A block is necessary to prevent abuse, much moreso than punish it.
IP addresses should not be blocked infinitely, since they're an address not one single person. It can't be assumed that they will only be used by one person between now and forever. -- Deltaneos (talk) 23:10, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

New skin

sorry to say but i hate this new layout on 6 10 2010 but do like the facebook and talk thing place bring back old the one MikaIzinsky and me like Blackwingben!!! (talkcontribs) 19:48, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

I think you're seeing the new skin. A lot of people, me included, dislike it too, but pretty soon it's going to be the default. You can leave feedback saying what you don't like about it on one of the blogs about it here. You can go to Special:Preferences to change your skin back to Monaco or Monobook. But by the 3rd of November, you won't be able to use Monaco anymore. -- Deltaneos (talk) 20:08, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

no more old skin like monaco from 3rd of november ? i guess i must be suitable with the new skin Gemini 93 (talkcontribs) 04:21, October 10, 2010 (UTC)

Regarding the new skin. We might have to make some changes to infoboxes and tables to suit the new width. I've started a discussion here if anyone wants to comment. -- Deltaneos (talk) 01:00, October 15, 2010 (UTC)

There's also Forum:The New Wikia Layout for more general discussion on the skin. -- Deltaneos (talk) 18:03, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

Animanga footer

The animanga footer is a croswiki template used to promote anime and manga wikis within Wikia. You can see it here. It is added to the bottom on the Main Page on some anime/manga wikis. That way users interested in anime/manga are more likely to find other anime/manga wikis. It'll help them get more readers and editors, both of which are helpful.

Anyway someone has suggested stripping the template down so that it just shows the wikis who are using it. You can see the current suggested changes here, but it most likely will be updated some more.

The user suggesting those changes asked if we'd be willing to add that template to the bottom of our Main Page in exchange for being listed on the template. I don't mind too much which we way we go. If anyone else is in favour, against or has comments/questions, could they please leave some here. Thank you. -- Deltaneos (talk) 00:58, October 15, 2010 (UTC)

Why can't I enter the Newly Changed page via the button on the main page? Someone help me please. --220.255.7.164 (talk) 14:50, October 21, 2010 (UTC)

You're using Wikia's new skin. The "recent changes" link has been replaced with a link to "wiki activity", up in the top right. If you prefer the traditional recent changes, you can go click on "See all activity" from the wiki activity page. -- Deltaneos (talk) 14:57, October 21, 2010 (UTC)

Degeneration of grammar: OF vs HAVE

I've been coming to this wikia for at least 3 years now, and in general the english grammar submitted internationally has been very good. However, whilst reading Trivia for True Six Samurai Shinai, Mizuho, Hand of the Six Samurai and Spirit of the Six Samurai, I noticed the influence of a more recently common - and completely nonsensical - error in English.

There is NO SUCH PHRASE as:

  • might of
  • should of
  • could of
  • would of, etc

I can see how this silly mistake might have arisen, since people are tending to type words as they sound, rather than how they're spelled. All of the above errors are corruptions of the form "ve" as an abbreviation of 'have'. For instance, 'might of' has arisen from the mis-typing of the actual phrase "might've", being an abbreviation of "might have".

Please can moderators look out for misleading and badly-written facts, trivia, tips etc as these can confuse issues that people have come here to resolve.

Thanks. -- Shamus87 23:58, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the notification. I'll keep my eye out.
I don't know if Google is picking up everything, but after searching this site for "could of", "should of", "would of" and "might of", I found only one content page result for "should of" and none for "could of" or "would of". "Talk", "User" and "Forum" pages are users discussing, rather than encyclopedic pages and aren't worth correcting. "Might of" is usually used in a correct context, where "might" means "strength", rather than "could possibly".
P.S. When you sign your posts could you do it by typing four tildes, like this: ~~~~ at the end of your post, rather than type it manually. It'll automatically change to your name and add a timestamp in the server's default time zone. -- Deltaneos (talk) 11:07, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

Latest Sets?

Shouldn't the latest set be changed to Storm of Ragnarok? It's the latest set and it is due in a week or two. So why isn't it up there? Or am I getting it muddled and it's the latest TCG set? ~DragonXDoom (talkcontribs) 12:29, November 1, 2010 (UTC)

The last two times that section got updated were two days before the release date and on the release date itself. There's only been three sets used since that section was added. It was never quite discussed exactly when it should be updated. -- Deltaneos (talk) 11:46, November 2, 2010 (UTC)

BIG PROBLEM

BIG PROBLEM. I went to a card page and there were redlinks where some of the data was supposed to be, and wikimarkup code in random places. Someone ineptly edited/vandalized the framework of the wiki! HELP! Affected pages include:

I will continue to edit this list. Others may add any articles to the list if they experience difficulties. <font color = #ffad00>Raging Flame Sprite Rocks!!! It's my signature card!</font> (talkcontribs) 00:49, November 27, 2010 (UTC)

They haven't been vandalised or ineptly edited. It looks like Wikia staff disabled the extension SMW and then reenabled it. A lot of pages are looking as they would if SMW was still disabled, because they didn't clear the job queue afterwards. I'll give them a poke to clear the job queue. In the meantime, adding ?action=purge to the end of the url of affected pages should fix them. Making an edit to an affected page should also fix it. -- Deltaneos (talk) 14:37, November 27, 2010 (UTC)

The forum is where we usually post things like this. As for this particular glitch, it would be Forum:"Magical Stone Excavation" page has problems. However, the temporary fix on that page doesn't work this time. So I assume it's a glitch with the wikia templates/SMW. It should be fixed eventually.... Agreed, it's also all over 5D's Episode 138 and few other cards that I came access. That's one reason why I denied the fact of skin change. Old one was better than this skin. --FredCat Ta.P.F.P.J.R.W.S.Th.P.S.C. 14:11, December 13, 2010 (UTC)
I've already reported it. It's because SMW was disabled, it's nothing to do with the skin. Null editing and purging isn't working this time, because it hasn't been reenabled.
P.S. Stendika, could you tick the box labelled "Raw signature" in Special:Preferences. When that's ticked, whatever is printed in the above field is used as your signature. When its unticked, your signature becomes:
whatever's printed in the above field (talk • contribs)
-- Deltaneos (talk) 14:43, December 13, 2010 (UTC)
Okay it was disabled because an overuse of heavy #ask queries was straining the servers. We should have it reenabled soon, but we should also try and reduce the amount of heavy #ask queries. I think the biggest problem is the archetype navboxes, which use a number of queries and are used on thousands of pages. We should rewrite a simpler version of them, to stop this happening in future. For example creating an individual template for each archetype, rather than use one that generates the entries automatically. -- Deltaneos (talk) 17:15, December 13, 2010 (UTC)

I see. I've had a look through wikipedia:Wikipedia:How to fix your signature and you need to put quotes around attributes in the HTML tags. i.e. color=#ffad00 should be color="#ffad00". I've tested this by copying your signature in my own signature field temporarily and it lets me check the raw signature box after that. -- Deltaneos (talk) 00:21, December 14, 2010 (UTC)

The drop down menu for archetypes is missing...

If you go to card pages part of an archetype, like Machinas, Dark Magician, etc.

The list at the bottom which has links to cards that are part of that same archetype are missing. What's going on? —This unsigned comment was made by Makoeyes987 (talkcontribs) 09:18, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

This was touched on two sections above. Something we were doing involving heavy SMW #ask queries was causing heavy strain on servers. SMW was disabled here because of that twice recently, which is why a lot of pages were appearing messed-up for a few days.
The archetype navboxes use a number of #ask queries on thousands of pages, so they've been removed temporarily to see if they were what was causing the problem. If they're not causing the problem, they'll be re-added. If they are, we'll make a new system that uses less #ask queries. -- Deltaneos (talk) 11:53, December 19, 2010 (UTC)

Top Decks page

Is there a page about what Konami currently has listed for the top decks from YCS or regionals? If there is, where can I find it? Recently I started using Chrome 9 and I've noticed that when editing, I can't see the editing toolbar. I wonder if anyone else has that problem and if yes, is there a solution to it. Thanks. Fluf (talkcontribs) 11:08, February 19, 2011 (UTC)

Noob question: What's the editing toolbar? If it's the help thing that was on the left side, telling you how to do things, it's not on mine either. Shrev64(TalkContribs) 02:47, April 22, 2011 (UTC)Shrev64

Content Missing

There is an awful lot of content suddenly missing from the main page, such as the latest manga chapters and anime episodes, and the tabs that let you select characters articles from past series. Is this because of the tsunami? Or a revision in progress? --68.125.110.81 (talk) 01:45, March 15, 2011 (UTC)

Wikia staff is working on it. There's some sort of glitch going on and they had to remove some of those templates to work on it. There's nothing anyone here can do about it right now. Same goes for any redlinks you see on card pages. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 02:03, March 15, 2011 (UTC)
More specifically, it's because they weren't cached properly (MediaWiki extensively caches the rendered versions of pages so that it doesn't have to rerender the pages on every page load). Cast was also causing uncached hits to the server backends - a pretty big problem when it happens on one of the most-viewed pages on a wiki.
Explaining more generally what a cache is, is rather difficult, since it doesn't really have any close real-world analogs... I guess the general concept could be somewhat comparable to buying a copy of a movie on VHS, DVD, or Blu-Ray, as opposed to just watching it in theaters or on TV. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 02:32, March 15, 2011 (UTC)
Yes, we're working on getting the latest episodes & other elements removed yesterday back up. Dinoguy1000 got the gist of it right from my comments (thanks!).
Here's some additional techy explanation for those of you that might be interested: We're going to re-work the TabView extension to use jQuery instead of the older YUI library.
The problem resulted from a mix of two things: (1) a bug in TabView that prevented proper caching and (2) the use of fairly heavy SMW queries embedded into TabView. This problem is not unique to yugioh, but you guys are probably the biggest wiki (in terms of traffic) effected by this, and so the first wiki we noticed this on.
Estimated time for the fix to go live is late Wednesday evening (UTC) or early Thursday.
Be on the lookout for my edits on the main page. ;) --TOR<staff /> 18:54, March 15, 2011 (UTC)
If it hadn't been for your comments, I probably wouldn't have known any more about it than Cheesedude, truth be told. ;) Always nice to hear stuff like that is getting attention. =) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 09:19, March 16, 2011 (UTC)
Hello guys. ShadowGamer here. I made new account due to the circumstances. I have a question. What will be better when this new jQuery goes into play? And what will that new system be different then the older YUI library? --Scourge The Hedgehog (talkcontribs) 00:59, March 17, 2011 (UTC)
Hello ShadowGamer, what circumstances are you referring to? None of the problems discussed in this section have any impact on your account, so you should still be able to log in.
Probably, there really won't be much of any improvement from the perspective of a site visitor. jQuery and YUI are both Javascript libraries, but jQuery is newer and is being actively developed (YUI may also be actively developed, actually; I really don't know); it also allows for somewhat cleaner, more cross-browser code to be written with much less effort. I'm hoping this also marks jQuery being deployed for Monobook; it's already enabled on the Wikia skin, but that seems to be it so far (or am I just ignorant? =3 ). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 03:40, March 17, 2011 (UTC)
Thnak you Dinoguy. That made it more clearer. And the circumstances... well, lets just say that it was sibling disaster. It is a family talk so I wont go into details, but lets just say I had this fight with my pesky brother, and my brother is only 10, but he hacked into my account and made it unaccessable from my computer. Lol. --Scourge The Hedgehog (talkcontribs) 19:32, March 17, 2011 (UTC)
It's been a few days since the expected time for the fixes to go live. Is it okay if we re-add the tabview stuff? -- Deltaneos (talk) 11:44, March 21, 2011 (UTC)

Is there a reason why we can't just use the old code? --68.125.110.175 (talk) 23:35, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

You mean, why can't we continue using YUI? Because jQuery is actively maintained, that means it has bugfixes and features that YUI might not. In addition, AFAIK, jQuery allows for simpler code than YUI does (simpler code is better because it's easier to spot errors in it). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 02:13, March 21, 2011 (UTC)
Why did we switch over in the first place?--68.123.111.20 (talk) 03:32, March 21, 2011 (UTC)
We had no role in the decision to switch over. That decision was made by Wikia's technical staff, and most likely occurred/is occurring across the entirety of Wikia, and not just here. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 04:19, March 21, 2011 (UTC)

And it's all back. A little late, for which I apologize, but we did tackle the issue and fixed it. You'll notice that the tabs should now also react way faster than they did previously. Just an added bonus. ;) Thank you for your patience and understanding and again – sorry for the inconvenience. Happy editing! --TOR<staff /> 01:39, March 29, 2011 (UTC)

Hi everyone, I was wondering when SD 2011 would release. It says on the main page that it will come out on May 31st, but I couldn't find a such date. Could someone please reply with the link(s) where this info can be found? Thanks! Shrev64(TalkContribs) 18:34, April 30, 2011 (UTC)Shrev64

I do not really know what you are asking. The info is right here: "[2]" Or, if this is not what you are looking for, you can reask the question a more... understandable. Hope this helped. --Scourge The Hedgehog (talkcontribs) 04:27, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

New Card Text

So, according to this and this Konami is overhauling a lot of their terminology and such. Should we note this in the Current Events, or change the card text to match up, or just not work at all? --174.55.48.236 (talk) 01:21, May 24, 2011 (UTC)

We don't need to update card lores until revised versions of the cards are actually unveiled/released, but the overall change definitely needs to be noted, and should probably get its own article - how does July 2011 Card Effects update sound for an article title? (that's a general question for everyone reading this, not just the anon OP specifically) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 04:27, May 24, 2011 (UTC)
I don't think updating the card lores need to be huge priority anyway, as long the redirects still exist. And no, that title isn't right. It needs to be July 2011 card effects update instead. <_< On the same note, I'm shocked; I actually like the new wordings. Also, we need implement this in a way that makes sense. We do not need to change all the text in anime/manga articles. The English dub/editions used the old terms, so so should the articles (same deal as how we still call Spells Magic in DM articles). Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 04:47, May 24, 2011 (UTC)
So do I; "banish" is so much easier to work with than "remove[d/s/ing] from play" (both in understanding card effects, and in linking). Also, just so everyone knows who wouldn't otherwise for one reason or another, this is also being discussed in the forum at Forum:New Keyword Errata. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 04:51, May 24, 2011 (UTC)

JS tabs

I'm sure most Monobook users have realised that the tabs on this page don't work properly in Monobook anymore. This happened when Tabview was updated. I've been told that Wikia have no plans of updating it to work in Monobook. Would anyone else be in favour of switching to Tabber? It's a bit different, but works in both skins.

This is what the Main Page looks like in Monobook and below is what the characters section would look like if we switched to Tabber.

They sorta worked, so I never noticed it. Instead of switching tabs, the characters just appeared under it. If tabber works as intended for both skins, then the question should be why not? as in, what is a down side to using Tabber?
(On another note; ever since (I think it was) <div class="tabview"> broke, I was wondering how tabs worked.) -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 13:35, May 30, 2011 (UTC)
I'm not aware of much disadvantages. There's a few differences for the minority who disable JavaScript or use the wikiaphone skin.
  • If you have JavaScript disabled, both display wrong. Tabber produces each item in a list without tabs and Tabview changes the tabs to links. When you click a link it shows you the content of the tab like this. Depending on which fallback you prefer that could be an advantage or a disadvantage.
  • The wikiaphone skin (for people accessing Wikia on their phone) works better with with Tabber than Tabview. Tabber displays properly (kinda) and Tabview displays the same as if you had JavaScript disabled. I think there's another phone skin, but I can't remember its name.
'Not sure what you're saying in your last line. -- Deltaneos (talk) 18:02, May 30, 2011 (UTC)
I agree, if it works in both skins, switch to it. On the other hand, it looks to me like we could get TabView working properly in Monobook again with the proper CSS and JS (depending on the details of how TabView actually works, JS may not even be necessary), though it would obviously be prone to breaking if the way TabView works is changed in the future. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:35, May 30, 2011 (UTC)
Would you know how to go about fixing it with custom CSS/JS yourself? -- Deltaneos (talk) 18:05, May 30, 2011 (UTC)
I could probably fix the appearance by stealing from the Wikia skin and tweaking as necessary, but I'd be much less confident if any Javascript is in fact necessary. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 18:08, May 30, 2011 (UTC)

ZEXAL Characters On Main Page

Should it not be one of Tokonosuke/Takashi/Cathy shown in the front page instead of Yuma's grandmother? I fail to see the logic in putting Yuma's grandmother as one of the main characters. Burnpsy (talkcontribs) 21:18, June 13, 2011 (UTC)

Template:Cast/Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL was made back when the series started before it was clear which characters would have the biggest roles. Back in May it was also suggested to replace Haru with Akari. I'm in favour of having it updated if people more up-to-date than me on ZEXAL can say who should be on it. -- Deltaneos (talk) 21:32, June 13, 2011 (UTC)
Akari and Haru are both equally unimportant at this point. Out of Tokunosuke, Takahsi and Cathy, Takashi has appeared the most at this point, though he's also had the least Dueling time, with Tokunosuke having had the most. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 01:44, June 14, 2011 (UTC)
How does one edit the ones that are on the main page? Burnpsy (talkcontribs) 02:18, June 25, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks. I've switched Haru for Takashi (because he's gotten the most screen time of the 3 candidates), and re-arranged them by the amount of screen time they've gotten, which how the other 3 series seem to have been arranged. Burnpsy (talkcontribs) 04:00, June 25, 2011 (UTC)
